PART A –– (5 x 20 = 100 Marks)

Q.No. Questions M CO# BTL
1. (a) One focus of an ellipse is at a distance of 50 mm from its
directrix. Draw the ellipse, given the eccentricity as 2/3.
20 CO1 L3
Draw a tangent and a normal at a point 50 mm from the
center of the ellipse
(OR)
(b) Construct a cycloid, given the radius of rolling circle as 25
mm. Also draw a tangent and normal at any point on the 20 CO1 L3
curve.

2. (a) A line EF, 85mm long has its E, 25mm above the HP and
20mm in front of the VP. The top and front views of the
line have length of 55mm and 70mm respectively. Draw 20 CO2 L3
the projections of the line and find its true inclinations
with the VP and the HP
(OR)
(b) A square lamina PQRS of side 40 mm rests on the ground
on its corner P in such a way that the diagonal PR is
20 CO2 L3
inclined at 45° to the HP and apparently inclined at 30° to
the VP. Draw its projections.

3. (a) Draw the projections of a hexagonal prism of base side 20

mm and axis length 50 mm when it rests on the ground on
20 CO3 L3
one of its base edges and the axis inclined at 35° to the
ground and parallel to the VP.
(OR)
(b) A hexagonal prism of base side 30 mm and axis length
70 mm rests on one of its ends on the HP with two base sides
parallel to the VP. It is cut by a plane perpendicular to the
20 CO3 L3
VP and inclined at 300 to the HP. The cutting plane meets
the axis at 40 mm from the base. Draw the plan, elevation,
sectional top view and the true shape of the section

4. (a) A hexagonal pyramid of base side 25 mm and altitude 50

mm is resting vertically on its base on the ground with two
of the sides of the base perpendicular to the VP. It is cut by a
20 CO4 L3
plane perpendicular to the VP and inclined at 40° to the HP.
The plane bisects the axis of the pyramid. Draw the
development of the lateral surfaces of the pyramid.

(b) A waste paper basket is in the form of a frustum of a
hexagonal pyramid with base 80 mm hexagon and top 120
mm. Draw the isometric view, if its height is 200 mm. The 20 CO4 L3
thickness of the basket can be taken as 12 mm. Adopt a
suitable scale.

5. (a) Draw the Front view, top view, side view of the object
shown in fig.
