LEARNING TO KNOW,

LEARNING TO DO,

LEARNING TO LIVE TOGETHER

AND LEARNING TO BE

‘Learning to know’ includes the development of the faculties of memory, imagination,

reasoning, problem-solving, and the ability to think in a coherent and critical way.
In the changed times one cannot succeed by merely rote learning few facts or
equations, rather one must learn how to think creatively, critically, and holistically,
and how to deeply understand the information that is presented. Globalisation has
ensured that one can no longer remain as an island but connect with others and
appreciate the diversity of the human race and an awareness of the similarities
between, and the interdependence of, all humans. ‘Learning to Be’ refers to being
truly human. It refers to the role of education in developing all the dimensions of
the complete person: to achieve the physical, intellectual, emotional and ethical
integration of an individual into a complete wo/man.

Through the medium of this magazine, we have tried our best to brings out the
latent creative talents of the students and thus helps them to form the habit of
reading and writing. It also helps them to hone their intellectual skills as well as
benefits in widening the horizons of knowledge. Further it gives a chance to the
other students to be inspired by their peers’ experience.

I express my heartfelt gratitude to our Principal Madam for entrusting me with this
responsibility to be a part of the Editorial Board and all teachers and students who
relentlessly worked to bring out this magazine.

I heartily wish all the readers my best wishes and hope this magazine will enjoy
your critical acclaim and prove itself to play a vital role in the all-round development
of the children.

Coordinator's Desk
School is not only to pursue academic excellence, but also to motivate critical
thinking among their students and to make them proactive members of the
society. We, at Apeejay School, always try to provide our students an atmosphere for
multifaceted development, where pupil is encouraged to multiply their potential in
the era of excellence. As a School Coordinator, I serve as a liaison between teachers
and management to resolve and facilitate issues, creating and delivering effective
curriculum, achieving department goals, meeting benchmarks and learning outcomes.
It has been a wonderful experience in search of excellence and fulfilment.

We have a commitment to develop these young minds, inculcate strong fundamentals

in them and guide these pilots of change to success. As education providers we offer
the young minds a pure ambience within the school in order to be passionate towards
their surroundings, and inculcate values, beliefs and healthy habits in them. While
academic excellence is our major thrust, the school is also devoted to prepare our
students for the life, groom them to face the challenges of tomorrow, and encourage
them to be socially relevant.

As an educationist I always want all children to be successful learners. Therefor we

strive to create a classroom atmosphere that is stimulating, encouraging, and adaptive
to the varied needs of students.

Our mission is to develop this school with integrity, impart holistic education instilling
true values in every single child and to deliver the best all round education.

I would like to end with the words of Albert Einstein, who once said, “Imagination is
more important than knowledge. For while knowledge defines all we currently know
and understand, imagination points to all we might yet discover and create.”

Pre-primary Coordinator‛s Desk
"Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire." —W.B. Yeats

The years of pre-primary education are the crucial years that shape a child for the
future. The foundation years therefore had to be addressed in a holistic manner.

Thematic learning is the cornerstone of Apeejay’s bequest. From nursery to the third
standard, we follow this method. It lays the foundation of a child’s learning through our
detailed curriculum with pre-planned topics and our CEPS books—a complimentary
process that enhances a child’s creative and academic growth.

To fulfil this pedagogy, we involve and encourage our students in group activities—
both in the classrooms that reflect the themes of a particular topic as well as offer
guidelines for the parents to follow at home.

The purpose of activity-based learning is to encourage a child’s active participation

and help them visualise the nuances of a particular theme.

At Apeejay the teaching faculty work in a collaborative process where discussions with
one another and regular feedback help us structure a well integrated lesson plan that
has the most positive impact on a child.

Our common vision is to lay the right foundation for early learners and is committed
to this dream.

to shape more conscious and aware individuals. The importance of consumption of
healthy food is imparted to the students by organizing “Nutrition Week”. Different
festivals are celebrated in the school to help the children understand their cultural
importance.

participate in classroom discussions. This benefits the students to not only clear their
doubt but also learn the art of expressing their ideas and sharing their thoughts.

Every child is gifted. They just unwrap their packages at different times. It is very
important to let a child have the opportunity to grow, develop and above all, create!
The colourful and happy world of the Preprimary welcomed the tiny tots with open
arms. But this time with a difference, as the children were to experience the outside
social world for the first time but with covid protocol as much as possible, until we all
crossed the hurdles to be free. It is usually a difficult task for the school teachers to
settle down the children in an all-new environment. But to ease that, the Preprimary
department, with its magical touch, decorated the world of these tiny tots and made
the children experience the best period of their life.
All the activities throughout the year revolve round various themes, which helped the
children learn and know more about its importance through practical and experiential
learning.
Activities like Role play of Our community Helpers made the children aware of the
importance of our helpers in the society and also to value and respect the duties

emotional development.
The event was celebrated between September 6-9 and was well-aligned with this
year’s theme of “Celebrate a World of Flavours”.
The Nutrition Week commenced with a special assembly by Class XII students on the
theme “Eat healthy, live healthy”. The students of class XI prepared an informative
PowerPoint presentation themed “Health is Wealth”. The students of class IX and X
participated in slogan-writing and poster-making activities on the occasion.
The middle school took part in the “My Healthy Plate Exhibition –Celebrate a World of
Flavours”. All the children enjoyed doing the activity and reflected a deep understanding
of the health benefits of the recipe by sharing the nutritive value of the dish with the
class.
Keeping oneself physically fit is equally important for overall well-being. The students,
therefore, gathered to celebrate ‘Yoga Day for Happier Gut” where they learned simple
yoga poses for gut health. class X students presented a talk on the topic: “Stay hydrated”
to discuss the benefits of drinking water and how it forms an essential part of a healthy
diet.
The primary section also celebrated Nutrition Week, which began with a “food platter”
activity where they decorated their plates with healthy food items. They also enjoyed a
“food pyramid-making” activity where they got to know about the correct proportion
of nutrients through food pyramids and charts and learned teamwork in the process.
The students of classes V-A and V-B presented a special assembly on the topics “The
new tradition is good nutrition” and “Unlock your potential with good nutrition”
respectively.
Overall, it was a highly enriching and thrilling experience for the students.

Apeejay School Kharghar celebrated this day with great enthusiasm and joy. Childhood
is the most beautiful gift for everyone and thus, to celebrate this blissful phase we
celebrate children's day. The day commemorates the birth anniversary of our first Prime
Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, who was fond of children and their innocence.
On this occasion teachers of Primary Group put up a special performance for children
with a hilarious skit, a medley of melodious songs and a foot tapping dance performance.
Children's joy knew no bounds when they saw all their teachers performing. The event
was culminated with the release of colourful balloons in the sky signifying the great

Straight from the Head

I first became a part of the school in 2009. That’s fourteen years, fourteen years
of learning, of growth and of spectacular fiendships and experiences. Ever since
the start, I had always been very involved in extracurriculars and the school and
the teachers have always supported my endeavours, academic or otherwise and
I am very grateful for that. It helped myself as well as other students to develop
attributes of confidence, clarity and a passion for excellence. Of course, academics
have always been an integral part of Apeejay School, Kharghar, albeit they did
not shy away from other aspects of our education, exposing me to healthy
competition, making me articulate and has helped me do well even in National
level competitions.

The school has awarded me the position of head boy, a position that gives me
the opportunity to interact with students and find solutions to their problems to
make the school a more cohesive and joyous environment. It also truly made me
Dirshak Deepak Patro understand the gravity of responsibility and the role it has to play in my life as well
XII - B as others and it has left me a more understanding human. It has helped me raise
Junior Head Boy the opinions of others as well as learning from them by connecting to them and
helping them wherever I can.

The end of my journey here will materialise in 2023, which seems rather
inconceivable now. The most accurate manner in which I can describe my journey
here is:

Imagine stepping into an elevator. Imagine teachers, friends, classmates entering

and leaving on every floor as you keep rising up the building. Imagine reaching
the top level after an absurd amount of time… for the elevator doors to ding open
into a corridor with a bright sky above and endless doors, all opened- endless
opportunities, all in reach, as your teachers still stay in the elevator, smiling,
wishing the best for you from the bottom of their hearts but still staying because
they have more students to aid in reaching the top floor. As I’ll walk through my
‘door’ of choice, I’ll always remember everything about here. After all, “Soaring
high is my nature. Now and forever.”

It's better to conquer yourself than win a thousand battles- Gautama Buddha.

Holding on to the revered position of the head girl of Apeejay School Kharghar, I
realised that all our dreams could come true if we dared to pursue them. I was a
bird in my sweet nest. But my teachers made me leave my comfort zone by toiling
myself in activities & values. Hence, not just to fly but soar high like an eagle.

John. F. Kennedy said, 'Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other.'
Being the head girl is to meet the little trust and faith of the students with
liveliness, steering them through the rash storms. It's about acknowledging that
'If you only do what you can do, you will never be more than you are now.' Thus,
instilling progress for a purpose.

Our prefectorial board always strives to make students comfortable in discussing

Annushree Mittal their concerns. Consequently, reviving the feeling that sticks in a bundle are
unbreakable.
XII - A
Senior Head Girl I'll like to thank my mentors and our principal, Mrs Tejaswini S. Katdare, for her
belief in all my endeavours. They showed us that education is not the preparation
for life; education is life itself. Just keep swimming!!

Straight from the Junior
‘A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way and shows the way'

It’s in deed a great privileged for me as a junior Head boy to carry out the
assigned resposibilities in a sincere, systematic and dedicated manner. Apeejay
has been my home since nursery and I have only flourished from day one. After
the short listing procedure and rigorous interview session, when Principal ma’am
announced my name Atiksh Rawat as Junior Head boy, I was overwhelmed with
joy. I had mixed feeling of happines as well as satisfaction as my dedication and
hardwork was recognized. The whole class started the victory dance and came to
congratulate me. And now for me , being the head boy was definitely a blessing
and a great honour. It brought both a sense of pride and responsibility. Many of
my good friends too had got selected for the perfectorial Board. I was happy that
I would be working with my friends and also children of the other section. For me,
being the junior head boy is not about position or the title but it is about action
Atiksh Rawat and example which can make a difference. I stand here as a leader not just to lead
V-D but to work in collaboration to achive the best for our school . I will try my best and
Junior Head Boy work persistently for the exellence of our school. Being a head boy has shaped
me into a better personality which, i’m sure, will help me in my future years. It has
also taught me how to be organized and be a better leader and also taught me
patience and how to be a confident person to face every problem with a strong
will.

And at last, I express my gratitude towards the enlightening and indwelling vison
of our school head, our Principal ma’am, Primary Co-odinator, our teachers for
seeing the potential of making a change in me. Keeping in sync with the school’s
moto “Soaring High is My Nature” .

I promise to keep working towards improving myself and continue to make my

school, teachers and parents proud .

Thank You

"A Journey of 1000 miles starts with a first step". My Journey with Apeejay started
as Junior KG student and now I am proud to be Junior Head Girl.

It was a memorable moment I got my badge on the Investiture ceremony. I had

always been a part of co curricular activities which has helped me gain confidence,
explore and learn new things. Apeejay has also taught us the importance of team
work and co operation which is essential for success. Our school had encouraged
us to share out thoughts without any hesitation.

Through this opportunity of being a Head Girl I have learnt to strike a balance
between academics and co curricular activities. School always believes in holistic
development.

These learnings and development is made possible with the support of our
Sanvi V Vedam Principal Madam, Co ordinator Madam and our beloved teachers. They are our
V-C pillars of success. I promise to keep up their faith. Looking forward for many such
opportunities.

“Language is the blood of the soul into which thoughts run and out of
which they grow.”-Oliver Wendell Holmes

Language gives the world insight into human mind. A step beyond
simple communication, allowing the mind to express thoughts,
emotions and intellect. It changes the way in which the world is
perceived.

It is true that expressing ourselves and our thoughts is such an

essential part of our life.

Kids are youthful souls filled with creativity and curiosity. We can often
find them indulged in some or the other form of art. Be it drawing,
modeling, or writing.

Through art, they can freely express themselves and explore their
strengths and interests. It also allows them to learn from their mistakes
and inquire into a variety of different forms to showcase themselves.

They get freedom and their feelings are encouraged to flow as they
express themselves.

I believe that through this section, we have given them an opportunity

to show their imagination.

Wish you a joyful reading of the creative writing in this section.

Who was afraid to engage.
My responsibilities increased, This is a ride you must enjoy!"
