CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION
1.1 About AICTE Activity Program
The objectives of AICTE student activity is to expose students to the real time life challenges,
to provide opportunity to gather data, analyse data, propose solutions and implement solutions,
provide an opportunity for personal development, to create engineers who are proud volunteers
having a sense of achievement and ready to take up projects having social impact and to create
digital awareness. We the 4th year Computer Science engineering students of the department
have conducted AICTE activity point program in government schools and other rural areas.
We have considered Chintamani, Chikaballapur and kaghati for our program. It was planned
to divide the students into different batches and the scheduling is made in sucha way that the
batches can carry out all the activities.
Some of the activities scheduled are:
• Cleaning the school premises and surroundings.
• Sanitization of classrooms.
• Giving an awareness of covid-19.
• Cleaning the primary health center premises.
• Working towards skilling of rural population.
• Monitoring Hygiene of Villages.
• Sanitizing the Village and Hospital premises.
• Managing Efficient Garbage Disposal System.
• Involving in agricultural practices.
• Planting saplings and promoting Green Earth.
• Conveying importance of health and hygiene to students

1.2 Necessity of AICTE Activity Program

AICTE Council has mandated all the 4-year Technical Degree Enrolled students to Earn -
development in Urban Infrastructure. Except the pollution and increased expenses for
lifestyle, the Urban India has all basic infrastructures such as Education, Health, Transport,
Employment, Food and Special Services at the reachable levels. At the same time, Rural India
has not seen any development in the accessibility of the basic infrastructures. They must travel
long distance to access even a small basic infrastructure. Though pollution and expenses for
AICTE Activity Program Introduction
lifestyle is very less in Rural Areas, people are migrating to the Urban areas as they need Basic
Infrastructures than the other facilities available in Rural India.
As per the experts, if at all Urban India has seen enormous development it is due to the
• Engineering Solutions
• Engineering Implementations
• Engineering Employments
Though engineering contribution is more in the development there are other segments that
contributed to the sustainable Urban Infrastructure such as
• Health
• Education
• Transport
• Dwelling Places
• Government Policies
In comparison, Engineering Solution is seen in less than 10% in the following segments of
Rural India:
• Rural Development
• Agriculture
• Animal Husbandry
• Agriculture Marketing
• Rural Employment Promoting Local Tourism
• Women Empowerment
• Reducing Malnutrition

If an Engineer can bring automation to the non-living environment in urban areas, he can bring
such solutions to the unexplored segments. Experts say, the Engineering Solution occupies
50% in the development of any segment. If we look back from 1970‟s, Engineers has not
contributed much to the Rural Development. After Rajiv Gandhi’s scheme of introducing
computer in India, people started learning Engineering but concentrated much on Urban
Solutions. The probable reasons are:
• Lack of Revenue in Rural India
• Unorganized Rural India
• Failure to foresee the potential of Rural India
• Failure to reach Engineering Solution due to more illiterates in Rural India.
As a result, today India has given better scientists and entrepreneurs to the world. Today

at least one CEO of top 10 companies in world is from India. But India itself is struggling
to solve the social problems.
People interested to solve Rural Problems are:
• Lacking the technology knowledge
• Lacking the Implementation Strategy
• Lacking the introduction of Sustainability to the Projects
• Lacking the public involvement
• Lacking the professionalism in the projects.
People with expertise in above segments are not interested to solve Rural Problems as:
• They prefer commercialization than Service
• Implementation has to start from elementary stage
• Lack of Public support in Rural Areas Lack of Infrastructures in Rural Areas
• Decreasing population in Rural Areas
• Unorganized segments are seen in Rural Areas
Hence AICTE, a Technical Education Monitoring Council has come up with a planof AICTE
Activity Points that needs.
• Identifying the Problem in Indian Society particularly in Rural India
• Explore the available Solution for the Problems
• Analyze the effectiveness of such solutions in the practical India.
• Identify the reasons for the failure of solution
• Propose an engineering solution to such problem
• Conduct activities regarding such solutions if the project is considered for 80 Hours
• If same project is considered for more than 300 Hours, a prototype of such
solution must be implemented.
This is a motivational concept by AICTE to bring Social Innovation in Engineers at their
education level to
• Address the Social Challenges of India
• Propose a practical solution to such challenges
• Bring more Social Innovations and Research
• Blend the available technology for effective solutions.

AICTE Activity Points is very essential in shaping India for the sustainable lifestyle. The
AICTE Activity Points project has the focus on applying engineering skills to solve the social

CHAPTER 2

ACTIVITY 1

Helping local schools to achieve good result and enhance

their enrolment in Higher/Technical/ Vocational Education
2.1 Abstract
Mentoring and educating students in local schools play pivotal roles in shaping the
academic, social, and emotional well-being of young learners. In tandem with mentoring,
quality education forms the cornerstone of student success. Local schools serve as dynamic
learning environments where students acquire knowledge, critical thinking skills, and
essential competencies. Educators employ innovative teaching methods to engage students
and promote active learning. By addressing diverse learning needs and fostering a culture of
inclusivity, schools create opportunities for all students to thrive academically.

2.2 Introduction
A quality education is one that focuses on the whole child- the social, emotional, mental,
physical, and cognitive development of each student regardless of gender, race, ethnicity,
socioeconomic status, or geographic location. It prepares the child for life, not just for
testing. This type of education provides resources and directs policy to ensure that each child
enters school healthy and learns about and practices a healthy lifestyle; learns in an
environment that is physically and emotionally safe for students and adults; is actively
engaged in learning and is connected to the school and broader community; has access to
personalized learning and is supported by qualified, caring adults and is challenged
academically and prepared for success in college or further study and for employment and
participation in a global environment.
Many people take for granted training they have received in healthy, hygiene practices
often during childhood, but information and knowledge about bacteria, hygiene and disease is
not widely available in many areas of the world. Unsafe practices at the water source like a
well, hand pump or spring can contaminate the drinking water for the whole community.
Through quality education, an individual can seek better job opportunities, progress with
sustainable livelihoods, and have a healthy lifestyle. Best delivered education spurs innovative
minds.

Spreading awareness under rural outreach programs

4.1 Abstract
Rural outreach programs bridge the gap between knowledge and rural communities. By
understanding the specific needs and communication preferences of these communities,
outreach workers can design engaging activities to spread awareness on crucial topics like
healthcare, agriculture, and technology. These programs empower rural populations by
fostering participation, dialogue, and ultimately, positive social change.
Through interactive activities and clear communication, these programs address
challenges like limited access to information and traditional mindsets. By fostering awareness
and understanding, they empower communities to actively participate in the democratic
process, ensuring their voices are heard in shaping their future.

4.2 Introduction
In rural outreach programs, it becomes imperative to bridge the gap in awareness regarding
elections and the pivotal role of voting. Through concerted efforts, we embarked on a mission
to enlighten rural communities about the electoral process and instil a sense of responsibility
towards exercising their voting rights. In these sessions, we emphasized the fundamental
principles of democracy, elucidating how each individual's vote holds the power to shape the
course of governance. We underscored the importance of active participation in the democratic
process, elucidating that every vote cast carries weight in influencing policy decisions and

CHAPTER 5

ACTIVITY 4

Promotion of appropriate technologies

5.1 Abstract
Embracing digital transactions, digital menu boards, solar light bulbs, and waste segregation
heralds a transformative era in our society. By promoting digital transactions, we advance
financial inclusivity and streamline monetary transactions, fostering economic growth.
Digital menu boards not only enhance customer engagement but also reduce paper waste,
aligning with sustainable business practices. Solar light bulbs illuminate pathways to a
greener future, curbing energy consumption and mitigating carbon footprints. Moreover,
waste segregation promotes environmental stewardship by diverting recyclable materials
from landfills, fostering a circular economy. Together, these initiatives epitomize our
commitment to innovation, sustainability, and responsible citizenship, forging a path towards
a brighter, more resilient future.

5.2 Introduction
In recent years, digitized money transactions have become increasingly popular due to their
convenience, security, and cost-effectiveness. With the advancement of technology, more and
more people are turning towards digitized payment methods such as mobile wallets, online
banking, and other digital payment platforms. This trend has led to the development of new
and innovative technologies that make it easier than ever before to conduct financial
transactions in a fully digitized environment.
Digital menu boards make menus look fancy and interesting, catching people's
attention in restaurants. They can change easily, showing new items or deals, which helps
restaurants work better. They look cool and don't waste paper, which is good for the
environment. Using digital menu boards makes customers happy and helps restaurants make
more money.
Solar bulbs use sunlight to make light. They work by collecting sunlight during the
day and storing it in batteries. Then, when it gets dark, they use that stored sunlight to light
up. Solar bulbs are good because they don't need electricity from the grid, which saves money
and is good for the environment. They can be used in outdoor areas like gardens, pathways,
AICTE Activity Program Activity 4

or even inside houses where there's not much light. Using solar bulbs helps save energy and
reduces pollution.
Keeping a vegetable shop clean involves separating trash. We put food waste in one bin
and packaging like plastic and cardboard in another. Food waste can be turned into compost
for plants. Recycling packaging helps reduce garbage. Regularly cleaning bins keeps the
shop smelling fresh and stops bugs. This helps keep the environment clean and healthy.

5.3 Activity Conducted and Observations

During the period from 10/03/2023 to 24/03/2023, we conducted a series of promotional
activities to encourage the adoption of appropriate technologies in various sectors. These
activities included:
Digital Transactions Promotion in Small Shops: We organized awareness campaigns and
training sessions for small shop owners on the benefits and methods of conducting digital
transactions. These involved demonstrations of payment apps and UPI systems tailored to
their needs.
Implementation of Digital Menu Boards in an Ice Cream Cafe: We promoted installation
digital menu boards in an ice cream cafe and also informed about the convenience of viewing
digital menus, which results in improved customer engagement and faster decision-making.
Installation of Solar Light Bulbs in Houses and Shops: We facilitated the installation of
solar light bulbs in houses and shops, highlighting their cost-saving benefits and
environmental advantages. Residents and shop owners were educated on how solar energy
works and how it can reduce electricity bills.
Importance of Waste Segregation in a Vegetable Shop: We guided the vendors on
separating different types of waste, like vegetable scraps and packaging materials, which
helps keep the shop clean and hygienic. This ensures a pleasant shopping experience for
customers and a healthier environment for staff.

5.4 Outcomes
The promotional activities will result in notable outcomes. Small shop owners on adopting
digital transactions enhances convenience. Implementation of digital menu boards will
improve customer engagement in the ice cream café. Solar light bulb installations will lead
to reduced electricity bills and sustainability promotion. Waste segregation efforts in the
vegetable shop ensures cleaner workspaces and environmental responsibility.

electricity bills and was good for the environment. And in a vegetable shop, sorting out trash
properly made the place cleaner and better for working. Overall, these activities made life
easier and better for people, and also helped take care of the environment.

CHAPTER 6

ACTIVITY 5

Contribution to national level initiative of Government of

India-Swachh Bharat
6.1 Abstract
The Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, a national initiative by the Government of India, aims to promote
cleanliness and hygiene across the country. Garbage disposal plays a crucial role in this
initiative, offering a convenient way to manage household waste and maintain clean
surroundings. By efficiently pulverizing food scraps, garbage disposal systems contribute to
the prevention of waste accumulation and the spread of diseases. Their ability to keep kitchens
clean and odour-free aligns with the objectives of Swachh Bharat, fostering a healthier living
environment for citizens. As part of this initiative, promoting the adoption of garbage disposal
units can significantly reduce the burden on traditional waste management systems and
promote sustainable practices. Choosing the right garbage disposal unit based on household
needs ensures effective waste management and supports the broader goals of Swachh Bharat.
Through widespread adoption of such technologies, households can actively contribute to the
cleanliness drive and help realize the vision of a Swachh Bharat.

6.2 Introduction
“A clean India would be the best tribute India could pay to Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th birth
anniversary in 2019,” said Shri Narendra Modi as he launched the Swachh Bharat Mission at
Rajpath in New Delhi. On 2nd October 2014, Swachh Bharat Mission was launched throughout
length and breadth of the country as a national movement. The campaign aims to achieve the
vision of a ‘Clean India’ by 2nd October 2019.
Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (SBA) or Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) is a nation-wide
campaign in India for the period 2014 to 2019 that aims to clean up the streets, roads and
infrastructure of India's cities, towns, urban and rural areas. The campaign's official name is in
Hindi and translates to "Neat and Tidy India Mission" in English. It is India's largest cleanliness
drive to date with three million government employees and students from all parts of India
participating in 4,043 cities, towns and rural areas. The mission has two thrusts: Swachh Bharat
Abhiyan ("gramin" or 'rural'), which operates under the Ministry of Drinking Water and

Sanitation; and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan ('urban'), which operates under the Ministry of
Housing and Urban Affairs.

6.3 Activity Conducted and Observations

From feb 12th to feb 25th, 2024, me and my friends teamed up to embark on a Swachh
Bharat activity in the chikaballapur area of bangalore. The primary objective of our initiative
was to contribute to the cleanliness and overall wellness of the community by cleaning the
roads and plots in the area. We wanted to make our neighbourhood cleaner and nicer for
everyone, so we decided to clean up the roads and empty plots. The activity commenced with
thorough planning and coordination among the members. We divided ourselves into teams,
assigned specific areas to clean, and gathered the necessary cleaning equipment and supplies.
With a shared commitment to making a positive impact, we set out each day with
determination and enthusiasm.
Upon reaching the designated areas, we began our cleanup efforts by removing litter,
debris, and other waste from the roads and surrounding plots. We paid special attention to areas
prone to accumulation of garbage, ensuring no corner was left untouched. Additionally, we
took proactive measures to ensure public safety during the cleanup process, such adhering to
traffic regulations. As we worked tirelessly under the sun, the response from the public was
overwhelmingly positive. Passersby expressed gratitude and appreciation for our efforts in
beautifying their neighbourhood. Some even joined us in our cleanup activities, further
amplifying the sense of community participation. Throughout the week-long initiative, we
encountered various types of waste, ranging from plastic bottles and wrappers to organic debris.
This experience underscored the importance of ongoing efforts to raise awareness about waste
management and promote responsible disposal practices among the residents.
During the Swachh Bharat activity, we noticed a strong sense of community spirit as
residents joined us in cleaning the neighbourhood. The positive feedback and gratitude from
the public highlighted the impact of our efforts in beautifying Hanumantha Nagara. The
transformation of the area from litter-strewn streets to a cleaner environment underscored the
effectiveness of collective action in promoting cleanliness and well-being.
