1. Brief description of duties/tasks entrusted.(in about 200 words)

I have been assigned under Design-V Bridges in Directorate of Design and mainly
entrusted the works of Phulbani (R&B) Division, Boudh (R&B) Division, Balliguda (R&B)
Division. Apart from this Works of Malkanagiri (R&B) Division, Angul (R&B) Division,
Kalahandi (R&B) Division, Deogarh (R&B) Division, Bargarh (R&B) Division, Bhubaneswar
(R&B) Division No-II were also assigned. The works primarily includes GAD Drawings,
Foundation and Sub structure Design of Open Raft and Pile foundations , Sub structure
Designs of Wall Type piers , Corbels , Circular RC Piers , Pier Cap. The observations on
submitted Hydraulic Particulars and Soil Investigation Reports were scrupulously studied
and assisted for seeking compliance in case of any data inconsistency and inadequacy
prior to take up of any GAD and Design Works . Also, assisted to the Departmental
Investigation Team for Paga-Narsignhpur Road failure and submitted the report jointly to
E.I.C.( Civil), Odisha with other team members.

3.(i) Significant work, if any, done

Timely delivery of GAD and Designs as assigned during the period of reporting.
(ii) Work Done For Implementation of 5TS (Transparency,Teamwork,Technology,Transformation and Time):
Analysis , verification of Hydraulic particular, Soil Reports and Design calculations have been put up in respective files
for review and approval of higher officials . Some critical cases in deciding type of foundations , Formation Level etc
were carried out in consultations with higher officers and my colleagues in the Directorate to arrive at a timely and
sustainable solution. Use of Microsoft Excel Spread sheet, STAAD Pro, LEAP Bridge soft ware in Design and analysis
have been learnt and were used appropriately for rational and economy in design. Impromptu delivery of works assigned
to me , had saved time to carry out further way forwards at Field Levels.
4. Hindrance

Due to paucity of colleagues and staffs at Directorate soon after my joining and a fresher to
join for learning Codes available spread sheets and techniques and subsequently
discharging assignments in time was definitely a cumbersome task but with the guidance
of Higher Officers in the Directorate and Colleagues in the Cell have eased my difficulty to
some extent. Still capacity building and thorough study on software , various IRC and IS
codes , specialised trainings are necessary .
