Proper/designated use
Claims for defects or liability, regardless of the legal foundation, do not apply
with incorrect or improper installation, commissioning, usage, handling,
storage, maintenance, repair, use of unsuitable components or other
circumstances for which HYDAC is not responsible.
HYDAC is not responsible for the installation, integration, selection of
interfaces to / into your system nor for the use or functionality of your system.
Use the unit only for the application described in the following.
The VEU-F is a stationary filtration unit used for filtering hydraulic or
lubricating oils in bypass flow.
Proper or designated use of the product extends to the following:
• Observing all instructions contained in the instruction manual.
• Performing inspection and maintenance work.
Depending on the version (see model code), you may use the VEU-F only in
connection with the following media:
WARNING
Fire hazard
NOTICE
DANGER
Any use extending beyond this or deviating therefrom shall not be considered
intended use. HYDAC Filter Systems GmbH will assume no liability for any
damage resulting from such use. The user alone, shall assume any and all
associated risk.
Improper use or use deviating from intended may result in hazards and/or will
damage the unit. Examples of improper use:
• Operation in potentially explosive atmospheres.
• Operation with a non-approved medium.
• Operation under non-approved operational conditions.
• Operation when the safety devices are defective.
• Modifications to the power unit made by the user or purchaser.
• Inadequate monitoring of parts that are subject to wear and tear.
• Improperly performed repair work.

Δp ≈ 6.8 * L / d4 * Q * V * D
Δp = Pressure differential in [bar]
L = Pipe length [m]
d = Internal pipe diameter [mm]
Q = Flow rate [l/min]
V = Kinematic viscosity [mm²/s]
D = Density [kg/dm³] Mineral oil based hydraulic fluid has a
density of ≈ 0.9 kg/dm³.
NOTICE
► The maximum pressure on the suction port IN must not be more than -
0.4 to 2.0 bar.
NOTICE
If rotation is in the opposite direction, change the phases in the terminal box
or rotate the phases in the connection plug using the phase inverter in the
connection plug.
WARNING
Hydraulic system is under pressure
Before commissioning, open the filter housing and check that the filter
elements are firmly in place and that the locking cap is installed, or insert the
filter elements if necessary. You can find details about changing the filter
elements on page 35.
Put the unit into operation only after all preparations for commissioning are
complete.
Performing maintenance
WARNING
Hydraulic systems are under pressure
The unit is equipped with a differential pressure manometer. This shows you
the differential pressure at the filter element.
NOTICE
A suction strainer is fitted into a piece of pipe of the suction line to protect the
pump from coarse contamination.
Clean the suction strainer at regular intervals, e.g. by flushing it with solvent
or blow-flushing it with compressed air.
Test and clean the suction strainer immediately in the event of insufficient
suction or delivery action.
Cleaning / Flushing the plate heat exchanger on the cooling water side
Clean the heat exchanger contaminated on the cooling water side by
flushing. This loosens and removes the majority of soft deposits clogging the
inside.
The solution used for flushing is a weak acid with concentration less than 5%,
for example citric acid.
If acidity is too high, the copper and stainless steel, which is inside the plate
heat exchanger, might be etched or corroded. Before restarting the system,
flush the plate heat exchanger with large amounts of fresh water to remove
any remaining acid solution.
