I am an African female, currently employed at the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a
Manager in the Professional Affairs Unit, dealing with Pharmacy Practice matters.

My qualifications include, a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree, a Diploma in Business Administration


and Management as well as a Bachelor of Laws degree.

During my service in the public sector, I have gained substantial knowledge and experience in the
management of Pharmaceutical Services at all levels of health care. My professional career
commenced at a District Hospital in Ekurhuleni District, as a pharmacist intern, then had an
opportunity to perform community serve at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital. Following that, I
joined the management team at a Regional Hospital in Sebokeng. After which I was appointed in
the Essential Medicines Directorate at the National Department of Health.

I am a registered pharmacist with the South African Pharmacy Council for 18 years post internship.
I have served 17 years of my career at the different levels of care within the Public Sector. I have
been in the management echelon since 2005 when I was Responsible pharmacist and manager of
a Regional Hospital Pharmacy. I then joined the Department of Health at National level where I
was a Principal Pharmacist in the Essential Medicines Programme, responsible for the Adult
Essential Medicines List Committee. I then took an opportunity to serve at the Department of
Health in Gauteng, within the Johannesburg Health District as a District Pharmacist. This role
included the management of pharmaceutical services wholistically within the biggest District in the
Province of Gauteng. I joined the Statutory body responsible for the practice of pharmacy, the
South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) on the 16 March 2020. My duties at SAPC, include the
follows:

1. Manage all activities related to the accreditation of courses and providers in accordance
with Good Pharmacy Education Standards (GPES);
2. Manage all activities related to monitoring of providers in accordance with the GPES;
3. Responsible for the monitoring and compliance of all categories of pharmacies in line with
Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP);
4. Assumes responsibility for the management of the process and activities involved in the
pre-registration year for persons with SAPC;
5. Responsible for the management of registration of persons, courses providers, and
pharmacies;
6. Develop and review Professional Standards, accreditation criteria and tools, monitoring
tools (universities and pharmacies) and guidelines;
7. Assume responsibility for the amendments and maintenance to the registers of persons
and organizations as well as the verification and printing thereof;

8. Consult and communicate with the profession and other stakeholders regarding all
professional affairs matters in a friendly and professional manner;
9. Drafting of agendas, minutes and facilitate the activities of the committees/ task groups
relating to the Practice Unit; and
10. Supervise all activities of all personnel under my supervision.
