MACHINE KNITTING

 Machine knitting is a process in which knitting is

performed by automated machines rather than by hand.
These machines use various needles and mechanisms to
create knitted fabric, allowing for faster and more
consistent production compared to traditional hand knitting
methods.

 There are two types of machine knitting: -

 Weft knitting
 Warp knitting
WEFT MACHINE
KNITTING

 Weft machine knitting refers to a method of creating knitted

fabric on a knitting machine where the yarn (also known as
the weft) runs horizontally across the fabric. The needles on
the machine interlock the weft yarn to form the fabric. This
technique is commonly used in textile manufacturing to
produce various types of garments, accessories, and
textiles.

 There are two types of weft knitting machines: -

 Flat knitting machine
 Circular knitting machine
FLAT KNITTING MACHINE

 A flat knitting machine is a type of knitting machine that

creates knitted fabric in a flat, horizontal manner. It consists
of a bed of needles that move back and forth, creating rows
of stitches. Flat knitting machines are often used for
producing garments with relatively simple shapes, such as
sweaters, scarves, and blankets. They are versatile and can
be manual or computer-controlled, allowing for various
stitch patterns and designs to be created.

 There are two types of beds in flat machine knitting:

 Single bed
 Double bed

SINGLE BED
A single bed flat knitting machine is a type of knitting
machine with only one bed of needles. It produces knitted
fabric in a flat, horizontal manner using a single set of needles
to create basic stitch patterns. However, they are limited in
their ability to perform more complex techniques compared to
double bed knitting machines.
DOUBLE BED

 A double bed flat knitting machine is a type of knitting

machine that consists of two beds of needles positioned
vertically, one above the other. This design allows for more
intricate and complex knitting techniques, as the two beds
of needles can work together to create various patterns,
textures, and even structures like ribs or cables. Double bed
flat knitting machines can produce a wider range of designs
and are often used for creating more detailed and
sophisticated knitted fabrics, garments, and accessories.

 There are two types of double beds in flat knitting machine:

-
 V- bed
 Purl knit

V-bed knitting machine have two rib gated, diagonally
approaching needle beds and the machine consists of 2 flat
needle beds arranged in an upside-down “V” formation. These
needle beds can be up to 2.5 meters (8 ft. 2 in) wide.

Purl knitting machine

A flat bed purl machine is a type of knitting machine designed
specifically to create purl stitches in knitted fabric. This
machine is commonly used in the production of textured
fabrics and for creating reversible patterns where both sides of
the fabric look similar.
CIRCULAR KNITTING
MACHINE
 A circular knitting machine is a type of knitting machine
that creates tubular or seamless knitted fabric in a
continuous loop. The fabric is produced by a set of needles
arranged in a circular manner. Circular knitting machines
are commonly used for making items like socks, hats,
sleeves, and other cylindrical or seamless garments. They
offer efficient and rapid production of knitted fabric due to
their continuous loop operation, making them a staple in the
textile and fashion industry.

 There are two types of circular knitting machines:

 Single cylinder circular knitting machine
 Double bed cylinder dial
Single cylinder circular
knitting
A single cylinder circular knitting machine is a specific type
of circular knitting machine that is used to create tubular or
seamless knitted fabric by knitting in a continuous loop. It is
particularly suitable for producing garments and textiles with
simple designs and structures, such as basic jerseys and ribbed
fabrics.

Double bed cylinder dial

 A double bed cylinder dial knitting machine has two sets
of needles arranged in a circular manner, with an
additional dial component that enhances the machine's
capabilities for producing complex knitted fabrics. It
contains extra needles and can move independently from
the cylinder, enabling even more intricate stitch patterns,
textures, and designs.
 There are two types of double bed cylinder dial
 Rib

 Interlock
Rib double cylinder knitting
machine
A rib double cylinder knitting machine creates ribbed knitted
fabric. This machine features two separate cylinders, each
with its own set of needles which can create alternating
columns of knit and purl stitches, resulting in the
characteristic ribbed texture commonly seen in cuffs, collars,
and other parts of garments. They are commonly used in the
textile and fashion industry to create a variety of garments and
accessories with ribbed patterns.

Interlock double cylinder

An interlock double cylinder knitting machine creates
interlock knit fabrics. The two cylinders work together to
create interlock knit fabric with alternating columns of knit
and purl stitches. Interlock knit is a type of fabric with a
smooth surface on both sides and excellent stretch and
recovery properties.
