TOPIC: THE DEPICTION OF THE PALESTINE-ISRAELI WAR: IS THE

MAINSTREAM MEDIA BIASED?
Introduction
-What is the war about?
The war that happened in the beginning of 7th October 2023 split the world in half in
terms of opinions, support, and opposition. The main agenda was a territorial dispute
regarding the Israeli occupation and siege of the Gaza strip in which Hamas fought back in
retaliation to regain control
-How did it happen?
The war started when a group of Hamas soldiers secretly crossed the Gaza border in
the middle of the night, launching a surprise attack on southern Israel after the Israelis’
occupation on the Gaza strip. Following this event, Israel launched an attack on the Gaza
strip from the skies, lands, and seas. The president of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu officially
announced to the public that Israel and Palestine in now in a state of war.
-The use of social media as a digital weapon for influence and propaganda
The start of the war and the events that happened after it can only be experienced
first-hand by the people of Palestine and Israel. As an external and a third-party, the rest of
the world can only gain information regarding the conflict through the eyes of our screens
and televisions, the social media. However, what has been fed to us via social media is in the
hands that controls it. Carefully selected narrations and events has been played out through
our screens to control our initial perspective and thoughts. Just as listeners to a story, the
moral of the story can be redirected by the reader.

Body 1: Historical Context

-History of the conflict?
To some of the newer generations today, the youth may have heard this conflict for
the first time in their lives. But in fact, this is not the only conflict Palestine has faced in the
hands of the Israelis. Dating back to the 19th century, after the events of World War 2, Israel
was declared as an official state with the help and support of the United Nations which was
opposed by the neighbouring Arab countries. This resulted in the Arab-Israel war in 1948
through which Israel managed to capture the Sinai Peninsula, Gaza Strip, West Bank, and
East Jerusalem. As a result, many local Palestinians were forced to flee their own country and
territory leaving many Palestinian refugees.
-Events that led up to today
Throughout the years from 1948, many peace agreements were signed such as the
Camp David Accords in 1978, the Oslo accords in 1993, and the Camp David Summit in
2000. Conflicts between these 2 states persisted with issues regarding Israel’s force expansion
in Palestinian borders and Israeli attacks on Palestinians in the Al-Aqsa mosque.
Body 2: The one-sided media coverage of the conflict by Israel
-Media coverage of the victims and destruction done on Israel by Hamas but not on
Palestine by Israel soldiers
With most of the telecommunication’s buildings belonging to Israel, the social media
coverage of the events and happenings in Israel and Palestine is biased on Israel’s side.
Evidence of this was that during the period of the war. The advertisements in Youtube were
swarmed with depictions of the violence of Hamas and the number of Israeli victims killed in
Hamas’s attacks but very rarely the opposite. Most advertisements on Gaza depicts that the
refugees need help and many has died but not that they were killed.
Another depiction in Youtube advertisements in the kidnapped Israeli citizens in the
custody of Hamas. But on the other hand, Palestinians citizens were also held in Israeli prison
but was not mentioned in media. Proof of this stems from the fact that a cease-fire was held
to allow an exchange of prisoners and citizens between both parties. This shows that the one-
sidedness of the Israeli media is clear and apparent with a purpose to call and persuade the
viewers to take Israel’s side without showing the whole picture.
-Techniques and methodologies used by Israel to control and influence the viewers via
social media
Israel has taken an aggressive stance against individuals or groups that show support
to the Palestinian by stating that their actions are anti-Semantic and a form of hate speech.
This can be seen as an attempt to shut down and silence Palestinian supporters by instigating
public hatred to the individual. In 2021, Gigi Hadid and Bella Hadid, both who had a
Palestinian father, Mohamed Hadid were labelled as anti-semantic after voicing their support
for Palestine.
-Propaganda techniques employed by Israel (showing supposedly kidnapped victims on
Youtube trailers etc)
The Israeli government spent about 13.5 billion dollars on the Youtube platform on
th
30 of October showing clips and videos of Hamas’s attacks on Israel in the form of Youtube
advertisements. The distribution of the video propaganda is concentrated in 3 countries.
France with the highest amount of money spent (8.4 million dollars) with the videos
appearing 959 million times. Next is Germany with 3.8 million dollars spent and 459 million
video appearances. The 3rd is the United Kingdom with 1.3 million dollars and 274 million
video appearances. The rest is distributed among other European countries with 0.3 million
dollars and about 43 million video appearances. France being the highest seemed like a
calculated approach and investment by the Israeli government due to France having high
concentration of Islamophobia among its local citizens. The French president Emmanual
Macron is publicly known due to his stance in the trespassing of Muslim rights in France like
the hijab controversy last year.
Another method that was used was in the form of kidnapped and missing posters in
social media and paper printouts all over the walls and streets of the European countries.
Following the surprise attack by Hamas on October 7, 2023, many victims were kidnapped as
a means for releasing Palestinian hostages detained in Israeli prison. The immediate response
Israel took was to spread all the victims’ names on posters and advertisements not only in
Israel but also to other European countries. On the walls of the streets of London were fully
covered with the names of the kidnapped victims. The media does not say however, that in
the past years, many innocent Palestinian civilians were arrested in jails without any serious
charges but for just throwing stones at Israeli soldiers as the head of the Prisoners’ Affairs
Authority in Palestine, Qaddoura Fares explained. Fares said that there are about 85 women
and 350 minors in prison among the 7800 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prison.
Both sides were responsible for the detainment and kidnapping of the opposite but as
to the reason why each side acted on it, it shows a clear distinction that Hamas’ plan for the
kidnapping was for a future release of their own innocents while Israel lacks solid reason for
detainment of Palestinian locals at such a magnitude.

-The framing of the hospital bombing by Israel by showing hospital staffs’ shift and
timetable
Israel denied claims that their rocket was targeted towards Al-Ahli Baptist hospital
located in the Al-Zaytoun neighbourhood in Gaza City on the 17th of October. The Israeli
government posted on “X” formerly known as Twitter a video of a flying missile claiming
that it was a Palestinian missile aiming for Israel which missed and landed near the hospital.
New York Times launched an investigation of the video from other sources. New York Times
reviewed the video from 5 other video clips using Al-Jazeera footage filmed at the same time
and concluded that the missile was launched towards Gaza from an Israeli town called Nahal
Oz before the hospital explosion and all missiles launched by Hamas towards Israel were
intercepted by Israel’s air defence, the “Iron Dome”. A Russian military expert Igor
Korotchenko explained that Israel did not provide sufficient evidence to defend Israel’s
narrative that Hamas was behind the hospital bombing. Igor also stressed the need for an
international investigation where all information and evidence regarding the hospital
bombing on both Israel and Palestine’s sides be submitted to an external body like the United
Nations Security Council for investigation.

-The significant impact of media misinformation on the viewers

Body 4: Efforts of countries and communities to stop the war.

-Call for a Palestine-Israel cease-fire by other countries
Throughout the war, many countries have put in the effort to stop the war whether it
be on Palestine or Israel’s side. The United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres
called for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. Many countries presented their drafts for
the ceasefire between Palestine and Israel in the United Nations summit meeting on the 25 th
of October 2023. An American draft was presented but was rejected by the Russia and most
of the countries as draft did not include any unconditional terms for a ceasefire. The United
States supports humanitarian support but not a ceasefire as the state of Washington believes
that the ceasefire serves the interest of Hamas. The United States is not in a neutral position
and is a direct ally for Israel, otherwise the ceasefire draft treat would be accepted
immediately regardless of if it serves the people of Palestine or Hamas.
-Donations and help to the Palestinian victims in Gaza

Body 5: The diverse opinions between the east and west and discerning the truth.
-Voices of support and opposition is apparent is distinguishable in both the western
community’s response and eastern community’s response.
There are many individuals with their own opinions regarding the Palestine-Israel
war. Some are brave and courageous to show their support, and some prefer to remain silent.
This may be due to the decline of the Israeli supporters in the west. What stands out is that
individuals and celebrities that shows support for Palestine via social media do not change
their decision or posts even after being attacked and insulted online while the supporters of
Israel are quick to change their approach and decisions. One such case was when Mark
Ruffalo, an American actor posted in “X” on his support for Palestinian victims of the hands
of the Israeli government. He even asked his followers to sign a petition for the American
government to condemn and sanction the Israeli government for its aggression in Sheikh
Jarrah neighbourhood in May 2021.
On the other hand, Oleksandr Zinchenko, an Arsenal player from Ukraine voiced his
support for Israel in Instagram. Many of his followers pointed out his hypocrisy and double
standards of supporting an occupying state while his state is also being occupied by Russia
and how Ukraine’s occupation is not as tragic and Palestine’s occupation for 80 years.
Oleksandr soon deleted his post and blocked his account from the public. Another example is
an American journalist, Kylie Jenner, who removed her post in Instagram within one hour of
posting her support for Israel due to the backlash and harsh criticism. The increasing number
of Palestinian supporters in the west puts public pressure on supporters of Israel.
A Gallup poll was done in the United States which reported that most of the newer
generations sympathize more with the Palestinians rather than the Israeli with a result of 49%
and 38% respectively. This is because the younger generations born in the 20th century are
more active and braver of voicing out their opinions and to take a side compared to the
generations born in the 19th century who are more silent and passive. As to why the support
for Palestine is more than Israel. The answer to that can be related to “The Boy Who Cried
Wolf” where the community will believe the boy at first but soon lost trust and stopped
believing him when he keeps lying until he was killed by a wolf. And in this real-life story,
the whole world can see the lies and falsehoods that Israel spreads.

-Ways of discerning between truth and falsehoods shown by external sources

Conclusion
-Recap the key points mentioned
To summarise, there are violence on both sides of the spectrum. One in Israel and the
other in Palestine. But when one side has more overwhelming advantage in terms of military
support and media influence, there are more destruction done by one side and the blame can
be shifted to other side without much opposition as there are no obstacles preventing the
spread of biased news. Israel with physical military support from the United States can wreak
more havoc on Gaza than the reverse. The spreading of misinformation and biased news can
cause a paradigm shift to the youth and ignorant who are unaware of the whole picture.
-Personal thoughts on the matter
Personally, media and news report must be double-checked by a 3rd party from various
unbiased countries before posting them on social media or any media outlets. Furthermore,
war reporters must cross-check their statistics and their facts with other reporters to avoid a
one-sided report undermining the other.
-Encouragement of the writer to the reader to act or a take a stand.
Many of us that are not involved directly can only watch and listen from our seats.
However, that does not mean there is nothing that we can’t do. Many non-government official
parties started a fund raising and donation of money, food, clothing, and shelter to help the
people in Gaza. We may not be able to help them directly but a good heart with good
intentions can change the world.

‫الحرب التي حدثت في بداية السابع من أكتوبر ‪ 2023‬قسمت العالم إلى النصف من حيث اآلراء والدعم والمعارضة‪ .‬كان‬
‫جدول األعمال الرئيسي هو نزاع إقليمي بشأن االحتالل اإلسرائيلي وحصار قطاع غزة الذي قاومت فيه حماس انتقاما‬
‫الستعادة السيطرة‪ .‬ما أعقب ذلك كان سلسلة من األحداث التي قامت بها كل من حماس والقوات اإلسرائيلية التي تقود‬
‫العالم تستيقظ من نومها وعملها‪.‬‬
‫بدأت الحرب عندما عبرت مجموعة من جنود حماس سرا حدود غزة في منتصف الليل‪ ،‬وشنت هجوما مفاجئا على‬
‫جنوب إسرائيل بعد احتالل اإلسرائيليين لقطاع غزة‪ .‬وعقب هذا الحدث‪ ،‬شنت إسرائيل هجوما على قطاع غزة من السماء‬
‫واألراضي والبحار‪ .‬أعلن رئيس إسرائيل بنيامين نتنياهو رسمًيا للجمهور أن إسرائيل وفلسطين في حالة حرب اآلن‪.‬‬
‫إن بداية الحرب واألحداث التي وقعت بعدها ال يمكن إال أن يختبرها شعبا فلسطين وإسرائيل مباشرة‪ .‬بصفتنا طرًفا‬
‫خارجًيا وثالًث ا‪ ،‬ال يمكن لبقية العالم الحصول على معلومات تتعلق بالصراع إال من خالل عيون شاشاتنا وأجهزة التلفزيون‬
‫ووسائل التواصل االجتماعي‪ .‬ومع ذلك‪ ،‬فإن ما تم تغذيته لنا عبر وسائل التواصل االجتماعي هو في أيدي من يتحكم فيه‪.‬‬
‫تم عرض الروايات واألحداث المختارة بعناية من خالل شاشاتنا للتحكم في منظورنا وأفكارنا األولية‪ .‬تماًما مثل‬
‫المستمعين إلى قصة‪ ،‬يمكن للقارئ إعادة توجيه معنويات القصة‪.‬‬
‫بالنسبة لبعض األجيال الجديدة اليوم‪ ،‬ربما سمع الشباب هذا الصراع ألول مرة في حياتهم‪ .‬لكن في الواقع‪ ،‬هذا ليس‬
‫الصراع الوحيد الذي واجهته فلسطين في أيدي اإلسرائيليين‪ .‬يعود تاريخها إلى القرن التاسع عشر‪ ،‬بعد أحداث الحرب‬
‫العالمية ‪ ، 2‬تم إعالن إسرائيل كدولة رسمية بمساعدة ودعم من األمم المتحدة التي عارضتها الدول العربية المجاورة‪ .‬أدى‬
‫ذلك إلى الحرب العربية اإلسرائيلية في عام ‪ 1948‬والتي تمكنت من خاللها إسرائيل من االستيالء على شبه جزيرة‬
‫سيناء وقطاع غزة والضفة الغربية والقدس الشرقية‪ .‬ونتيجة لذلك‪ ،‬اضطر العديد من الفلسطينيين المحليين إلى الفرار من‬
‫بلدهم وأراضيهم تاركين العديد من الالجئين الفلسطينيين‪.‬‬
‫على مدار السنوات من عام ‪ ،1948‬تم توقيع العديد من اتفاقيات السالم مثل اتفاقات كامب ديفيد في عام ‪،1978‬‬
‫واتفاقات أوسلو في عام ‪ ،1993‬وقمة كامب ديفيد في عام ‪ .2000‬استمرت النزاعات بين هذه الدول ‪ 2‬مع القضايا‬
‫المتعلقة بتوسيع القوة اإلسرائيلية على الحدود الفلسطينية والهجمات اإلسرائيلية على الفلسطينيين في المسجد األقصى‪.‬‬
‫نظًر ا ألن معظم مباني االتصاالت السلكية والالسلكية تابعة إلسرائيل‪ ،‬فإن تغطية وسائل التواصل االجتماعي لألحداث‬
‫واألحداث في إسرائيل وفلسطين متحيزة من جانب إسرائيل‪ .‬كان الدليل على ذلك خالل فترة الحرب‪ .‬كانت اإلعالنات في‬
‫يوتيوب مليئة بتصوير عنف حماس وعدد الضحايا اإلسرائيليين الذين قتلوا في هجمات حماس ولكن نادًر ا ما يكون‬
‫العكس‪ .‬معظم اإلعالنات عن غزة تصور أن الالجئين بحاجة إلى المساعدة ولكن ليس أنهم قتلوا‪ . .‬تصوير آخر في‬
‫إعالنات يوتيوب للمواطنين اإلسرائيليين المختطفين المحتجزين لدى حماس‪ .‬لكن من ناحية أخرى‪ ،‬كان المواطنون‬
‫الفلسطينيون محتجزين أيًض ا في السجن اإلسرائيلي ولكن لم يتم ذكرهم في وسائل اإلعالم‪ .‬وينبع الدليل على ذلك من عقد‬
‫وقف إلطالق النار للسماح بتبادل األسرى والمواطنين بين الطرفين‪ .‬وهذا يدل على أن انحياز وسائل اإلعالم اإلسرائيلية‬
‫واضح وواضح بهدف استدعاء المشاهدين وإقناعهم باالنحياز إلى جانب إسرائيل دون إظهار الصورة كاملة‪.‬‬
‫اتخذت إسرائيل موقًفا عدوانًيا ضد األفراد أو الجماعات التي تظهر دعًما للفلسطينيين بالقول إن أفعالهم معادية للداللة‬
‫وشكل من أشكال خطاب الكراهية‪ .‬يمكن اعتبار ذلك محاولة إلغالق وإسكات المؤيدين الفلسطينيين من خالل التحريض‬
 ‫على الكراهية العامة للفرد‪ .‬في عام ‪ ،2021‬تم وصف جيجي حديد وبيال حديد‪ ،‬وكالهما كان لهما أب فلسطيني‪ ،‬محمد‬
‫حديد‪ ،‬بأنه معاد للداللة بعد التعبير عن دعمهما لفلسطين‪.‬‬
‫أنفقت الحكومة اإلسرائيلية حوالي ‪ 13.5‬مليار دوالر على منصة ‪ Youtube‬في ‪ 30‬أكتوبر لعرض مقاطع ومقاطع‬
‫فيديو لهجمات حماس على إسرائيل في شكل إعالنات على ‪ .Youtube‬ويتركز توزيع الدعاية بالفيديو في ‪ 3‬بلدا‪ .‬فرنسا‬
‫التي أنفقت أكبر مبلغ من األموال (‪ 8.4‬مليون دوالر) مع ظهور مقاطع الفيديو ‪ 959‬مليون مرة‪ .‬التالي هو ألمانيا بإنفاق‬
‫‪ 3.8‬مليون دوالر و ‪ 459‬مليون ظهور بالفيديو‪ .‬بدت فرنسا األعلى وكأنها نهج محسوب واستثمار من قبل الحكومة‬
‫اإلسرائيلية بسبب تركيز فرنسا العالي على اإلسالموفوبيا بين مواطنيها المحليين‪ .‬الرئيس الفرنسي إيمانويل ماكرون‬
‫معروف علًن ا بسبب موقفه من التعدي على حقوق المسلمين في فرنسا مثل الجدل حول الحجاب العام الماضي‪.‬‬
‫طريقة أخرى تم استخدامها كانت في شكل ملصقات مختطفة ومفقودة على وسائل التواصل االجتماعي ومطبوعات ورقية‬
‫في جميع أنحاء جدران وشوارع الدول األوروبية‪ .‬في أعقاب الهجوم المفاجئ الذي شنته حماس في ‪ 7‬أكتوبر ‪ ،2023‬تم‬
‫اختطاف العديد من الضحايا كوسيلة لإلفراج عن الرهائن الفلسطينيين المحتجزين في السجن اإلسرائيلي‪ .‬كان الرد‬
‫الفوري الذي اتخذته إسرائيل هو نشر أسماء جميع الضحايا على الملصقات واإلعالنات ليس فقط في إسرائيل ولكن أيًض ا‬
‫في دول أوروبية أخرى‪ .‬على جدران شوارع لندن كانت مغطاة بالكامل بأسماء الضحايا المختطفين ومع ذلك‪ ،‬ال تقول‬
‫وسائل اإلعالم إنه في السنوات الماضية‪ ،‬تم اعتقال العديد من المدنيين الفلسطينيين األبرياء في السجون دون أي تهم‬
‫خطيرة ولكن لمجرد إلقاء الحجارة على الجنود اإلسرائيليين كرئيس لهيئة شؤون األسرى في فلسطين‪ ،‬أوضح قدورة‬
‫فارس‪ .‬وقالت فارس إن هناك حوالي ‪ 85‬امرأة و ‪ 350‬قاصرا في السجن من بين ‪ 7800‬سجين فلسطيني في السجن‬

‫ونفت إسرائيل االدعاءات بأن صاروخها استهدف مستشفى األهلي المعمداني الواقع في حي الزيتون في مدينة غزة في‬
‫‪ 17‬تشرين األول‪/‬أكتوبر‪ .‬ونشرت الحكومة اإلسرائيلية على موقع «إكس» المعروف سابًق ا باسم تويتر مقطع فيديو‬
‫لصاروخ طائر يزعم أنه صاروخ فلسطيني يستهدف إسرائيل أخطأ وسقط بالقرب من المستشفى‪ .‬بدأت نيويورك تايمز‬
‫تحقيقا في الفيديو من مصادر أخرى‪ .‬راجعت صحيفة نيويورك تايمز الفيديو من ‪ 5‬مقاطع فيديو أخرى باستخدام لقطات‬
‫لقناة الجزيرة تم تصويرها في نفس الوقت وخلصت إلى أن الصاروخ أطلق باتجاه غزة من بلدة إسرائيلية تسمى نحال‬
‫عوز قبل انفجار المستشفى وجميع الصواريخ التي أطلقتها حماس باتجاه إسرائيل تم اعتراضها من قبل الدفاع الجوي‬
‫اإلسرائيلي «القبة الحديدية»‪ .‬أوضح الخبير العسكري الروسي إيغور كوروتشينكو أن إسرائيل لم تقدم أدلة كافية للدفاع‬
‫عن رواية إسرائيل بأن حماس كانت وراء تفجير المستشفى‪ .‬كما شدد إيغور على الحاجة إلى إجراء تحقيق دولي يتم فيه‬
‫تقديم جميع المعلومات واألدلة المتعلقة بتفجير المستشفى على الجانبين اإلسرائيلي والفلسطيني إلى هيئة خارجية مثل‬
‫مجلس األمن التابع لألمم المتحدة للتحقيق‪.‬‬
‫طوال الحرب‪ ،‬بذلت العديد من الدول جهوًد ا لوقف الحرب سواء كانت من جانب فلسطين أو إسرائيل‪ .‬دعا األمين العام‬
‫لألمم المتحدة أنطونيو غوتيريش إلى وقف فوري إلطالق النار في قطاع غزة‪ .‬قدمت العديد من الدول مشروعاتها لوقف‬
‫إطالق النار بين فلسطين وإسرائيل في اجتماع قمة األمم المتحدة في ‪ 25‬أكتوبر ‪ .2023‬تم تقديم مسودة أمريكية ولكن تم‬
‫رفضها من قبل روسيا ومعظم الدول كمسودة لم تتضمن أي شروط غير مشروطة لوقف إطالق النار‪ .‬تدعم الواليات‬
‫المتحدة الدعم اإلنساني ولكن ليس وقف إطالق النار حيث تعتقد والية واشنطن أن وقف إطالق النار يخدم مصلحة‬
‫حماس‪ .‬ومن الواضح أن الواليات المتحدة ليست في موقف محايد وهي حليف مباشر إلسرائيل‪ ،‬وإال فإن مشروع معاملة‬
‫وقف إطالق النار سيقبل فورا بغض النظر عما إذا كان يخدم شعب فلسطين أو حماس‪.‬‬
‫هناك العديد من األفراد الذين لديهم آرائهم الخاصة فيما يتعلق بالحرب الفلسطينية اإلسرائيلية‪ .‬البعض شجاع وشجاع‬

‫هذه الحاالت عندما نشر مارك روفالو‪ ،‬الممثل األمريكي في «‪ »X‬دعمه للضحايا الفلسطينيين في أيدي الحكومة‬
‫اإلسرائيلية‪ .‬حتى أنه طلب من أتباعه التوقيع على عريضة للحكومة األمريكية إلدانة ومعاقبة الحكومة اإلسرائيلية على‬
‫عدوانها في حي الشيخ جراح في مايو ‪.2021‬‬
 ‫تم إجراء استطالع للرأي أجرته مؤسسة غالوب في الواليات المتحدة أفاد بأن معظم األجيال الجديدة تتعاطف أكثر مع‬
‫الفلسطينيين وليس مع اإلسرائيليين بنسبة ‪ ٪49‬و ‪ ٪38‬على التوالي‪ .‬هذا ألن األجيال الشابة التي ولدت في القرن‬
‫العشرين أكثر نشاًط ا وشجاعة في التعبير عن آرائهم واالنحياز إلى جانب مقارنة باألجيال التي ولدت في القرن التاسع‬
‫عشر والتي كانت أكثر صمًت ا وسلبية‪ .‬لماذا الدعم لفلسطين أكثر من إسرائيل‪ .‬يمكن أن تكون اإلجابة على ذلك مرتبطة بـ‬
‫«‪ » The Boy Who Cried Wolf‬حيث سيصدق المجتمع الصبي في البداية لكنه سرعان ما فقد الثقة وتوقف عن‬
‫تصديقه عندما يستمر في الكذب حتى يقتله ذئب‪ .‬وفي قصة الحياة الواقعية هذه‪ ،‬يمكن للعالم بأسره أن يرى األكاذيب‬
‫واألكاذيب التي تنشرها إسرائيل‪.‬‬
‫من ناحية أخرى‪ ،‬أعرب أولكسندر زينتشينكو‪ ،‬العب أرسنال األوكراني‪ ،‬عن دعمه إلسرائيل على إنستغرام‪ .‬وأشار‬
‫العديد من أتباعه إلى نفاقه ومعاييره المزدوجة في دعم دولة االحتالل بينما تحتل روسيا دولته أيًض ا وكيف أن االحتالل‬
‫األوكراني ليس مأساوًيا واحتالل فلسطين لمدة ‪ 80‬عاًم ا‪ .‬سرعان ما حذف أولكسندر منشوره وحظر حسابه من الجمهور‪.‬‬
‫مثال آخر هو الصحفية األمريكية‪ ،‬كايلي جينر‪ ،‬التي أزالت منشورها على ‪ Instagram‬في غضون ساعة واحدة من نشر‬
‫دعمها إلسرائيل بسبب رد الفعل العنيف واالنتقادات القاسية‪ .‬يضغط العدد المتزايد من المؤيدين الفلسطينيين في الغرب‬
‫على مؤيدي إسرائيل‪.‬‬
‫تلخيص‪ ،‬هناك عنف على جانبي الطيف‪ .‬واحد في إسرائيل واآلخر في فلسطين‪ .‬ولكن عندما يتمتع أحد األطراف بميزة‬
‫ساحقة أكبر من حيث الدعم العسكري والنفوذ اإلعالمي‪ ،‬فهناك المزيد من الدمار الذي يقوم به أحد الجانبين ويمكن تحويل‬
‫اللوم إلى جانب آخر دون معارضة كبيرة حيث ال توجد عقبات تمنع انتشار األخبار المتحيزة‪ .‬يمكن إلسرائيل بدعم‬
‫عسكري مادي من الواليات المتحدة أن تعيث فساًد ا في غزة أكثر من العكس‪ .‬إن نشر المعلومات المضللة واألخبار‬
‫المتحيزة يمكن أن يتسبب في تحول نموذجي للشباب والجهالء الذين ال يدركون الصورة بأكملها‪.‬‬
‫شخصًي ا‪ ،‬يجب التحقق من وسائل اإلعالم والتقرير اإلخباري من قبل الطرف الثالث من مختلف البلدان غير المتحيزة قبل‬
‫نشرها على وسائل التواصل االجتماعي أو أي وسائل إعالم‪ .‬عالوة على ذلك‪ ،‬يجب على مراسلي الحرب التحقق من‬
‫إحصائياتهم وحقائقهم مع المراسلين اآلخرين لتجنب تقرير من جانب واحد يقوض اآلخر‪.‬‬

‫يوجد شيء ال يمكننا القيام به‪ .‬بدأت العديد من األحزاب الرسمية غير الحكومية في جمع األموال والتبرع بالمال والغذاء‬
‫والمالبس والمأوى لمساعدة الناس في غزة‪ .‬قد ال نتمكن من مساعدتهم بشكل مباشر ولكن القلب الطيب ذو النوايا الحسنة‬
‫يمكن أن يغير العالم‪.‬‬
