Title : MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS PROGRAM

RATIONALE

The Guidance Center is an integral part of the Institution which helps clientele in
developing their emotional well-being, managing healthy relationships, coping with problems,
dealing adjustment difficulties and other development issues. The Guidance office renders
services purposely designed to help the clientele set healthy life goals and develop productive
behaviors of the students which is necessary for the maximum development of their potentials.

For all of us mental and physical health is vital and interwoven strands of life. As our
understanding of this relationship grows, it becomes even more apparent that mental health is
crucial to the overall well-being of individuals, societies and countries. As mental health defined
as a state of well-being enabling individuals to realize their abilities, cope with the normal
stresses of life, work productively and fruitfully, and contribute to their communities. But it was
sad to note that in most parts of the world, mental health is not accorded the same degree of
importance as physical health. Rather, they have been largely ignored or neglected.

Mental health awareness is an important issue for all educators and to students as well.
As according to the research that a student’s mental health has an impact on their learning and
achievement. Hence, the Guidance Center realizes that there’s a great deal that can be done to
help students to prevent mental health issues and concerns. As a mental health advocate, we
welcome the fact that Mental Health Awareness is finally becoming an important part of a
school’s function and curriculum.

Thus, this activity is purposely designed to achieve the above benefits of educational
and psychological development of the students.

OBJECTIVES

 Increase awareness of mental health issues and the importance of mental well-
being;
 Reduce stigma associated with mental illness;
 Promote help-seeking behaviors;
 Provide participants with information and resources on mental health;
 Empower participants to take care of their own mental health and the mental health
of others.
PROCESS AND METHODOLOGY

The Guidance Office Personnel will be in charge of this seminar, along with the
Teachers, Staff, and Administration. A guest speaker will be speaking during this two-hour
talk. The seminar will be delivered through lectures. The guest speaker will be a mental
health advocate who has a thorough understanding of the topics to be discussed.

PARTICIPANTS

All teachers and students of San Roque National High School are expected to
participate.
