II. PROGRAM BACKGROUND AND RATIONALE

High school students are at a stage in their lives when they are beginning to make
important decisions about their future. They need information to make informed choices about
their health, relationships, and lifestyle. This information drive aims to provide preventive
education, empowering students with knowledge to avoid the negative consequences of drug
abuse, unplanned pregnancies, and involvement in violence. Prevention is often more effective
than intervention. Educating students early can help prevent the initiation of drug abuse and the
perpetration or victimization of violence. It's a proactive approach to fostering healthy behaviors
and relationships.
Moreover, creating awareness about these issues helps ensure the safety and well-being of
students. They learn to recognize signs of danger and can access resources for help if needed.
Addressing topics related to reproductive health and violence prevention emphasizes the
importance of respectful relationships, consent, and gender equality, which are essential values
for building a safe and inclusive society. This program empowers students to take control of their
lives and be advocates for positive change in their communities. They will learn that they can
make responsible choices and influence the behavior of their peers. The information drive creates
a platform for open and non-judgmental dialogue, breaking the silence around sensitive issues.
Students can ask questions, share their concerns, and receive guidance. Students become aware
of the resources, counselors, and support systems available to them within their school and
community, enabling them to seek help when needed.
By addressing violence against women and children, the program encourages students to
take responsibility for creating a society where everyone is treated with dignity and respect, and
where violence is not tolerated. Covering these three critical topics in a single program allows
students to see the interconnectedness of health, relationships, and social issues. It promotes a
holistic approach to personal well-being and societal health. A half-day program is a convenient
and efficient way to introduce students to these topics without disrupting their regular class
schedules. It maximizes the use of available time. In summary, a half-day information drive on
anti-illegal drugs, reproductive health, and violence against women and children is a strategic
and impactful way to address these critical issues among senior high school students. It equips
students with the knowledge and awareness they need to make informed decisions, build healthy
relationships, and actively contribute to a safer and more equitable society.
