Bonsai

All that I love

I fold over once
And once again
And keep in a box
Or a slit in a hollow post
Or in my shoe.

All that I love?

Why, yes, but for the moment ---
And for all time, both.
Something that folds and keeps easy,
Son’s note or Dad’s one gaudy tie,
A roto picture of a young queen,
A blue Indian shawl, even
A money bill.

It’s utter sublimation

A feat, this heart’s control
Moment to moment
To scale all love down
To a cupped hand’s size,

Till seashells are broken pieces

From God’s own bright teeth.
And life and love are real
Things you can run and
Breathless hand over
To the merest child.

- Edith L. Tiempo

G.Comprehension check
I hope you enjoyed the poem and now it
is your turn to read any volunteer?

All that I love

I fold over once
And once again
And keep in a box
Or a slit in a hollow post
Or in my shoe.

What does the first stanza all about?

It is all about something that a writer
keep Ma’am.

Yes, it is about a thing that a writer

keep . We are keeping a thing because it
is important for us right?
Class have you notice the first line?

It says “All that I love” Ma’am.

Actually class this poem is written by a
mother who keeps random things of her
family because of the sentimental
value. Those things may look old, torn
and useless but because of memories it
has a especial place in her heart.
Next stanza kindly read.

All that I love?

Why, yes, but for the moment ---
And for all time, both.
Something that folds and keeps easy,
Son’s note or Dad’s one gaudy tie,
A roto picture of a young queen,
A blue Indian shawl, even
A money bill.

What are the things that a writer keep

class?

Son’s note or Dad’s one gaudy tie,

A roto picture of a young queen,
A blue Indian shawl, even
A money bill Ma’am

According to the random things that is

mentioned class what personality do you
think the author has?

Adventurous Ma’am because there are a

lot of different items that she keeps.
Okay possible any other answer?

Sentimental Ma’am because she

cherished even simplest things.
Thank you for that,we can notice here
the overflowing love of a mother for her
family because like what you’ve said
that she keep even the simplest things,
how about your mother class did they
keep a letter from you?

Yes Ma’am my mother keep my

personalized greeting card for her
birthday ,I was only 5 years old when I
did that.

That is so sweet, how about others?

My mother keeps my first valentines

card for her Ma'am and it is our activity
during my kindergarten years.

That is the simplest and yet deepest

way of appreciation right class? Keeping
the memories of our love ones.
Let us proceed to the next stanza who
wants to read?
It’s utter sublimation
A feat, this heart’s control
Moment to moment
To scale all love down
To a cupped hand’s size

What do you think is the 3rd stanza

wanted to imply? I think Ma’am the love that cannot be
measure that the mother have for her
family.

Excellent answer,it express the

unmeasurable love of the mother for her
family but to be able to give it we must
reduce it in our self like how the bonsai
plants needs to be trim to be in perfect
form. Ma’am the time I get sick and
Any situation class that you feel or hospitalize I witness my mothers
realize how your mother loves you? sacrifice

Thank you for sharing, let us proceed to

last stanza please read.
Till seashells are broken pieces
From God’s own bright teeth.
And life and love are real
Things you can run and
Breathless hand over
To the merest child

In my own opinion Ma’am it is how God

create the love and life.

Any insight about the last stanza?

Correct it the last stanza implies the Yes Ma’am every time I'm in helpless
power of God over the life and love. Is situation and suddenly a help will come.
there any instances that you feel like
being loved by God?

Every time I receive any blessing Ma’am.

Indeed we all feel the power of our God

at every unexpected situation.
Any other?

Yes,all of us has different blessing

received from our God and we must be
thankful always. Bonsai
