The Republic of Ghana, is a country located along the Gulf of Guinea and Atlantic Ocean, in
the subregion of West Africa. Spanning a land mass of 238,535 km2 (92,099 sq mi), Ghana is
bordered by the Ivory Coast in the west, Burkina Faso in the north, Togo in the east, and the Gulf of
Guinea and Atlantic Ocean in the south. Ghana means "Warrior King" in the Soninke language.
Ghana's population of approximately 30 million spans a variety of ethnic, linguistic and
religious groups.[4] According to the 2010 census, 71.2% of the population was Christian, 17.6% was
Muslim, and 5.2% practised traditional faiths.Its diverse geography and ecology ranges from coastal
savannahs to tropical rain forests.

Coat of Arms: The coat of arms of Ghana is composed of a blue shield displaying a St. George's cross

freedom of Africa.

Ghana Traditional and Society


 Traditional Clothes
Kente is a ceremonial cloth hand-woven on a horizontal treadle loom and strips measuring
about 4 inches wide are sewn together into larger pieces of clothes. Clothes come in various
colours, sizes and designs and are worn during very important social and religious occasions.

 Music and Dance

Ghanaian music such as the talking drum ensembles, Akan Drum, goje fiddle and koloko lute.
Ghanaian dance is as diverse as its music, and there are traditional dances and different
dances for different occasions.The dances include the Adowa, Kpanlogo, Azonto, Klama,
Agbadza, Borborbor and Bamaya.

 Festival

Festivals in Ghana are celebrated for many reasons pertaining to a particular tribe or culture,
usually having backgrounds relating to an occurrence in the history of that culture. The
Panafest celebrates roots, and African-Americans with roots from the region, often visit and
celebrate their heritage.

 Religion

Ghana religion has Christian,Muslim, and traditional religion.
