1 System description
1.1 Handpiece
Radial, low-energy pulses (D-ACTOR) are administered into the body by means of
a freely movable handpiece, and encompass the entire pain zone. Radial pulses are
often also referred to as radial pressure waves – which is indeed physically correct. The
handpiece is placed on the pain zone that has been established by diagnosis.

3.7 Treatment
Before using the device, the user must make sure it is functioning safely and in proper
condition.
Each time after the device has been transported, make sure that all functional
checks have been performed on the device before you start treatment. Read about
this in chapter 3.5 functiOnal checkS.

3.7.2 Setting parameters
Treatment should always start at a low energy level. This also applies to resuming
treatment after an interruption. The pulse energy should be increased gradually
during treatment. The low levels are used less for therapy and more for familiarising
the person to be treated.
Select a low energy level and frequency
OR
Load an indication and administer the treatment according to the
recommendations of the treatment parameters stored in the system)
NOTE
The selection of energy levels is based on the opinion of the operator adminis-
tering treatment. The maximum energy level used during treatment must not
cause the person to be treated undue pain under any circumstances.
Avoid excessive pressure of the transmitter to the patient‘s skin. Excessive pressure
is not needed for the success of the treatment.

Make sure that the pulse counter is at zero and a low energy level has been set.

4 Cleaning, Maintenance, Overhaul
4.1 Cleaning
Regular cleaning ensures perfect hygiene and operation of the D-ACTOR handpiece.
The handpiece, in particular the transmitter, must be thoroughly cleaned and disin-
fected after each therapy session.
CAUTION !
Disconnect the handpiece from the control unit before starting any
cleaning or maintenance work.
ATTENTION !
its tubing.
Clean the coupling gel off the handpiece using a cleaning agent that is suitable for
surface cleaning.
23
Disinfect the handpiece with an alcohol-based disinfectant that is suitable for
surface cleaning (follow the manufacturer’s instructions).
19 920 02 0614
4.1.1 Changing the transmitters
NOTE
The handpiece is equipped with a projectile safety catch device in order to prevent the
projectile from being ejected in case a pulse is released while the transmitter and the
transmitter screw cap are removed.
The safety catch is also activated if the transmitter screw cap is not screwed on tightly, if the
sealing ring between the cap and the transmitter is missing or if two sealing rings (old and
new) come together at the rear of the transmitter.
CAUTION !
Disconnect the handpiece from the control unit before starting any
cleaning or maintenance work.

4.1.3 Cleaning the transmitters
Unscrew the transmitter screw cap and remove the transmitter insert from the
transmitter screw cap.
NOTE
The transmitter insert with the D20-S, D20-T and D35-S can only be dismantled
and the sealing rings can only be removed using special tools. You should avoid
doing this because it could result in damage to the transmitter. It is not necessary
for cleaning purposes.
27
Clean and disinfect not only the transmitter insert but also the transmitter screw
cap with the usual alcohol-based cleaning agents and disinfectants.
Dry the transmitter and transmitter screw cap before screwing them together.
19 920 02 0614
Push the insert into the front cap and screw the two cap parts together until
NOTE
Make sure that the two cap parts of the D20 and the D35 transmitters are
shaft.
Check the screw connection of the transmitter screw cap and cap parts during
prolonged treatment phases
4.2 Overhaul
Pulses are generated mechanically. Due to the effects of friction, the handpiece com-
ponents are continuously exposed to mechanical stress, which will cause minor wear.
NOTE
The D-ACTOR handpiece should be overhauled about every 1,000,000 pulses.
This can be done quickly and easily by the user of the device. All that is required is
the overhaul kit, which includes all required wear parts.
The overhaul kit can be ordered from your dealer quoting part number 17212.
Cleaning, Maintenance, Overhaul
NOTE
The sealing rings, the projectile and the guide tube must always be replaced each
time the handpiece is overhauled. Observe the O-ring Guide when selecting the
sealing rings to be used. It is contained in the overhaul kit.
19 920 02 0614
4.2.2 Overhauling the handpiece
CAUTION !
Disconnect the handpiece from the control unit before starting any
cleaning or maintenance work.
ATTENTION !
An open-end spanner has to be used to release or to assemble handpiece
shaft when overhauling the handpiece.
