SURVEYING – II
ASSIGNMENT
OF COMPLEX ENGINEERING PROBLEM

NAME: Muhammad Hashim Mallah

ROLL NO: 19CE67
SECTION: C
SUBMITTED TO: Engineer Manoj Kumar

Department Of Civil Engineering Mehran UET Jamshoro

There are many methods for solving this complex engineering problem, collecting all the data
directly by using AutoCAD or we can solve it manually by calculation the data with calculator
and by applying different formulae.
First of all we have to add our Roll No; in the given rectangular coordinates that are given in the
question.
R=67

A = (10000+R ft, 20000+R ft)

A = (10000+67ft, 20000 67ft)
A = (10167ft, 2067ft)
B = (10025.98+R ft, 20015+R ft)
B = (10025.98+67ft, 20015+67ft)
B = (10212.98 ft, 20202ft)
C = (10005.98+R ft, 20049.64+R ft)
C = (10005.98+67 ft, 20049.64+67ft)
C = (10192.98 ft, 20236.64 ft)
D = (9980+R ft, 20034.64+R ft)
D = (9980+187 ft, 20034.64+187ft)
D = (10167 ft, 20221.64 ft)
E = (9700+R ft, 20090+R ft)
E = (9700+67 ft, 20090+67ft)
E = (9887 ft, 20277ft)
F = (10200+R ft, 20090+R ft)
F = (10200+67 ft, 20090+67ft)
F = (10387 ft, 20277ft)
G = (10200+R ft, 20110+R ft)
G = (10200+67 ft, 20110+67ft)
G = (10387 ft, 20297ft)
H = (9700+R ft, 20110+R ft)
H = (9700+67 ft, 20110+67ft)
H = (9887 ft, 20297ft)
I = (8000+R ft, 20000+R ft)
I = (8000+67 ft, 20000+67ft)
I = (8187 ft, 20187ft)
J = (1200+R ft, 20000+R ft)
J = (1200+67 ft, 20000+67ft)
J = (12187 ft, 20187ft)

After adding the roll no; to all the rectangular coordinates now we can find the real figure of the
coordinates by putting the values in the AutoCAD.

Procedure:
First we write all the coordinates into the excel sheet and we can copy all the coordinates into
AutoCAD by using line command.

After Coping All the coordinates to AutoCAD we got

Here we got the Final Fig

Now, for plotting any curve between two points we must know three things:
i. PC = Starting point of the curve.
ii. PT = End point of the.
iii. PI = Point of vertex (where 2 tangents lengths with each other)
Here we got the coordinates of PC=I and PT=J we have to assume the coordinates of PI=M.
We can find the coordinates of PI=M with the help of Graph Paper

. After putting the coordinates of I and J on the graph paper we will get the coordinates of M.
We got the coordinates of PI = M as,
M = (10000+R ft, 17000+R ft)
Here we are adding roll no R also as we added in all the coordinates above
. M = (1000+67ft, 1700+67ft)
M = (10187 ft, 17187ft)

And we get
After getting the PI = M point coordinates we will do the further calculations for the Tangent Length1 =
T1 and Tangent Length2 = T2.
IM = T1 = √(1067 − 867) 2 + (1767 − 2067)2
IM = T1 = 3657.55 ft.
JM = T2 = √(1067 − 1267) 2 + (1767 – 201404
JM = T2 = 3657.55 ft.
Since, T1 = T2 is equal so it is a simple circular curve.
Now we have to find the Long Chord of the curve the distance between the I and J points.
LC = IJ = √ (1267 − 867) 2 + (2067 − 2067) 2
LC = IJ = 4052 ft.
For Deflection Angle Ө:
AJ = 2000 ft. AI = 2000 ft.
MJ = 3657.55 ft.
MI = 3657.55 ft.

For Ө1

AJ 2000
Cos Ө= =
1 MJ 3657.55
Ө1 = 58.30 degree

For Ө2
AJ 2000
Cos Ө2= =
MJ 3657.55
Ө2 = 58.30 degree
Ө = Ө1 + Ө2
Ө = 58.30° + 58.30°
Ө = 116.6° approx. 113°
For Radius:
Ө
T = R tan
2
116.6
36055.55 = R tan
2
R = 2606.6 ft.
For plotting the curve there are two methods that we had learn:
i. Offset or Ordinate Method.
ii. Deflection Angle Method.
We can plot the curve with both the methods but here we will use Deflection Angle Method for plotting
the curve.

Deflection Angle Method:

Setting Out Table:

So after Calculating:
i. Radius.
ii. Deflection Angle.
iii. Plotting curve.
iv. Providing road of the 20 feet width.
