Division
Division as Repeated Subtraction
Repeated subtraction is a method that subtracts the equal number of items from
a group, also known as division.
Long Division
Representation of Fractions
A Fraction is generally represented as:
ℎ
ℎ ℎ ℎ
=
Fraction of a collection
Simply divide the number of objects with the denominator and then multiply the
answer with the numerator.
Fraction in measurement
Length: Length can be measured in meters and centimeters.
Boundary: The line around the outer edge of a shape is considered a boundary.
Measure of Boundary:
• The finding of the length or size of something is measurement.
The Mathematical term 'Perimeter' can be used instead of a boundary.
• Suppose if a farm is in a rectangle shape then take the length of all sides then
by adding all these sides we get the perimeter.
The terms “heavy” and “light” are used to indicate the weight of an object.
Weight can be defined as the measure of how heavy something is.
Light Objects:
The objects with less weight are called light objects.
The lighter objects can be lifted easily because of their lightweight.
Examples of such objects are Feather, Cotton etc
Heavy Objects:
The objects with more weight are called heavy objects.
The main property of heavy objects is, that they cannot be easily lifted by a human
being usually, with great difficulty they can be lifted.
Examples of such objects are Iron balls.
Heaviest Objects:
The main property of such objects is that it is practically impossible to lift them by
an individual
The objects with huge weights are called the heaviest objects.
Examples of such objects are rocks, mountains, buildings etc.
Measurement of Weight:
Parts of a Circle
Centre
• A fixed point at an equal distance from every point on the circumference of the
circle is known as the centre.
Radius
• The line joining the centre and any point on the circumference of the circle is
called the radius of the circle.
ℎ
• The radius is half of the diameter of a circle. Radius of the circle = 2
