400 Series 22 Issue 2

New Gasket for the Cylinder Head March 2008

This service bulletin applies to 400 series engines models HP and HR. The new gasket was introduced on
engine model HR from the engine serial numbers that are listed in Table 1.

Note: All other build list except those in Table 1 cut in at HR-----U989708P for Peterborough product and
HR-----N717485P for Griffin product.
The new cylinder head gasket was introduced on engine model HP from engine serial number
HP-----U926328P after December 2007 on all build lists in Table 2. All other HP build lists are not affected.

Due to Perkins continuous product improvement program a new and improved multi layered steel gasket for
the cylinder head has been introduced.
For engines models HP and HR in service, gasket (FGW part number 915-049 and 998-394) has been
replaced with the new gasket (FGW part number 10000-13340).
The torque figures and tightening sequence for the cylinder head has not changed.
