6. Read the following passage carefully then answer the questions that

The History of Tanzania can be traced back from 6th century when this area was
divided into chiefdoms and kingships. In 1920 after the first world war, the area
was named as Tanganyika by the British colonialists. The British ruled Tanganyika
from 1919 to 1961. During this time, Zanzibar was not part of Tanganyika.

Before Germany rue our country was under the Arabs and Portuguese rulers at
different times. The foreign rulers came during the chiefdoms. Before the first
world war, the territory was part of German colony known as Germany East
Africa. After the first world war , Tanganyika became under the British rule until
1961 when the country got independence under the leadership of late
Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere. Zanzibar got her majority independence
on 12 January 1964 after Zanzibar revolution under the leadership of Sheikh
Abeid Aman Karume. On 26, April 1964 Tanganyika and Zanzibar united to form
the united Republic of Tanzania.
