TOPIC PRESENTATION
Topic No. 1
A. Introduction
Modern cities are supposed to have efficient strategies for managing and
accessing the cemetery records. However, just like many other cemetery
managers, those of Tagaytay City Cemetery in the Philippines struggle with
pinpointing grave locations, keeping the record of dead persons and even
ensuring that visitor’s movement is simplified. For that reason, a Web-Based 2D
Mapping and Management System designed for Tagaytay City Cemetery has
been recommended.
The system will come up with advanced cartographic techniques equipped with
user-friendly interfaces hence providing an all round way finding experience such
as block and lot identification, grave locations as well as recording deceased
people. In addition to this the system will also possess several interactive
functionalities including when one selects a name of a dead person on the list
provided goes ahead to indicate it graphically on map which further simplifies
navigation. The project aims at improving accessibility, accuracy of location
services while it also seeks to leverage contemporary web technologies and use
spatial data management methods in order to improve efficiency in cemetery
management as well as enhancing visitors’ experience.
The Tagaytay City Cemetery was established primarily for the burial of the dead in
Tagaytay City and its neighboring communities. Members of the community,
especially during special days like All Saints’ Day, come here to pay respect to
their family members. As a cultural place, the cemetery’s architecture stands as a
representation of a particular culture and has become a landmark indicating the
culture of Tagaytay City with relations between the living and the dead. Other
Relatives and someone who is related to deceased individuals find it quite difficult
to search for graves physically most of the time they are never certain of the exact
location.
With this in mind, the creation of a Web-Based application for the Tagaytay City
Cemetery will be done to solve this problem. Through this Web-Based
Application, people will be able to locate the place most especially the lot number
and block number of a deceased person. It is possible to locate it through the
Web-Based Application by entering the name of the deceased relatives, block,
and lot number.

The Administrator is the only person who can access and edit the
Cemetery system to ensure its accuracy and reliability. Through editing, the
Administrator can add, edit, and archive information of a deceased person.
Our system features a user-friendly interface that helps users understand its
operation. Users can search for the name of a deceased person to find the
location, block and lot number, and view a gravestone picture displaying their
name, birthdate, and death date.
Visitors and Families: Families and visitors searching for specific graves
can easily locate their loved ones' resting places by searching names and
using the 2D map, saving time and reducing emotional stress.
