TOPIC PRESENTATION
Topic No. 1

I. General Subject Area

Creating a Management System for Tagaytay City Cemetery will help people
locate their loved ones' gravestones more efficiently.
II. Specific Topic
Development of Web-based 2D Mapping and Management System for Tagaytay
City Cemetery

III. Specifics of Research

A. Introduction

Modern cities are supposed to have efficient strategies for managing and
accessing the cemetery records. However, just like many other cemetery
managers, those of Tagaytay City Cemetery in the Philippines struggle with
pinpointing grave locations, keeping the record of dead persons and even
ensuring that visitor’s movement is simplified. For that reason, a Web-Based 2D
Mapping and Management System designed for Tagaytay City Cemetery has
been recommended.

The system will come up with advanced cartographic techniques equipped with
user-friendly interfaces hence providing an all round way finding experience such
as block and lot identification, grave locations as well as recording deceased
people. In addition to this the system will also possess several interactive
functionalities including when one selects a name of a dead person on the list
provided goes ahead to indicate it graphically on map which further simplifies
navigation. The project aims at improving accessibility, accuracy of location
services while it also seeks to leverage contemporary web technologies and use
spatial data management methods in order to improve efficiency in cemetery
management as well as enhancing visitors’ experience.

B. Background of the Study

The Tagaytay City Cemetery was established primarily for the burial of the dead in
Tagaytay City and its neighboring communities. Members of the community,
especially during special days like All Saints’ Day, come here to pay respect to
their family members. As a cultural place, the cemetery’s architecture stands as a
representation of a particular culture and has become a landmark indicating the
culture of Tagaytay City with relations between the living and the dead. Other
Relatives and someone who is related to deceased individuals find it quite difficult
to search for graves physically most of the time they are never certain of the exact
location.

With this in mind, the creation of a Web-Based application for the Tagaytay City
Cemetery will be done to solve this problem. Through this Web-Based
Application, people will be able to locate the place most especially the lot number
and block number of a deceased person. It is possible to locate it through the
Web-Based Application by entering the name of the deceased relatives, block,
and lot number.

C. Research Description

 Objectives (General and Specific)

The primary goal of this study is to develop a Web-Based 2D Mapping and
Management System for Tagaytay City Cemetery. To help people to Identify
the grave and make it easier for them to find the lot and block number, Name,
Death and Birth date of Deceased Person.

Specifically, it aims to:

1. Conducting research, to gain a deep understanding of how

traditional management practices are implemented by the
administration and staff in a cemetery.

2. Evaluate the impact of the Web-Based 2D Mapping and

Management System for Tagaytay City cemetery. Researchers will
gather data through a survey to understand the perspectives
needed for the application's creation

3. Design and develop a devotional application titled " Development of

Web-Based 2D Mapping and Management System for Tagaytay
City Cemetery " that is capable of:
a. Identify the block and lot no.
b. Identify the name of a certain grave.
c. Add new record of a deceased person.
d. Locate a specific grave.
e. Archive an information of deceased person.

4. Create a testing plan to check the functionality, usability, and

performance of the Web-Based 2D Mapping and Management
System

5. Evaluate the Web-Based 2D Mapping and Management System to

Tagaytay City Cemetery, to determine its alignment with the
cemetery’s requirements.

6. Implementation and deployment of the Development of Web-based

2D Mapping and Management System for Tagaytay City Cemetery.

 Manageability (Scope and Limitations)

The Administrator is the only person who can access and edit the
Cemetery system to ensure its accuracy and reliability. Through editing, the
Administrator can add, edit, and archive information of a deceased person.
Our system features a user-friendly interface that helps users understand its
operation. Users can search for the name of a deceased person to find the
location, block and lot number, and view a gravestone picture displaying their
name, birthdate, and death date.

 Importance of the Study

The development of a web-based application for Tagaytay Cemetery is

crucial as it simplifies the process of locating graves for users. By searching
for names, users can save time and reduce the difficulty of finding gravesites.
Additionally, the application's 2D map feature allows users to identify
available lots within the cemetery that are unowned. This enhances efficiency
and transparency in managing cemetery plots. The following shall benefit
from the results of this study:

Visitors and Families: Families and visitors searching for specific graves
can easily locate their loved ones' resting places by searching names and
using the 2D map, saving time and reducing emotional stress.

Cemetery Administrators: Administrators can efficiently manage and

maintain cemetery plots, track occupancy, and plan for future expansions or
maintenance with the aid of accurate data provided by the application.

Local Authorities: Local government agencies responsible for cemetery

management can use the application to enhance operational efficiency and
ensure transparent management of cemetery resources.

Historical Researchers: Researchers interested in cemetery records and

genealogical studies can access accurate historical data through the
application, contributing to local history preservation.

The development of a web-based 2D Mapping and Management System for

Tagaytay City Cemetery will follow an iterative approach. The project will be
divided into manageable stages, with each stage including planning, design,
implementation, testing, and evaluation. The strategy begins by creating basic
infrastructure and a rough map layout before gradually adding functionality
like plot management features, user authentication, and more advanced
search functions in later cycles. This system is designed to be responsive to
stakeholders' needs through continuous feedback, which guides subsequent
iterations to improve the system based on real-world use and feedback. The
methodology promotes flexibility, risk mitigation, and continuous
improvement, resulting in a strong and easy-to-use cemetery management
system.
