Goal-setting skills: Personal lifestyle choices

You are important and special. You have an individual gift to give to the world and all the things you do in life
are important. You can achieve any of the goals you set for yourself. We want you to be equipped to reach all
your goals develop intellectually, socially, economically, emotionally spiritually ,physically and live a responsible
way of live. We want you to know that hard work equals success and that the amount of effort you put into life,
equals the benefit you get out of life! We want you to love yourself and love your life! Please take your life
seriously at all times and commit yourself to a positive balanced and healthy lifestyle!

Always understand that you can become whatever you want and you can achieve any goal you can imagine, if
you just believe.

Knowing your
 values: clarifies your priorities in life and helps you to know what to say no to e.g. substance abuse.
 role models: gives you hope that you can achieve because others achieved.
 talents: helps you to focus and develop your strengths in order to succeed in life
 turning points in life: assures you that since you have conquered through tough times in the past, you
can face and conquer current tough times.
 Vision: helps to guide your life and keeps you future focused.

1.2. My goals/dreams for the future : Collage (20)
Design a collage representing your goals/dreams for the future. Goals are like a map that
shows you where you want to go with your life. (Set goals in all areas of your life like school,
personal life, for your health, career, financial and spiritual life). Cut out and paste pictures and
words from magazines on an A3 page (dbl A4) that describe or represent these mentioned
aspects. Your personal qualities and traits are developed in childhood and through life
experiences.

Your collage must be organised according to headings and must not be a random pasting of pictures!!!
The following must be included in your collage:
1. Your own personal qualities/characteristics/traits.
1.1. Strengths (positive aspects that can be very efficiently
used to bring you the competitive advantage
that you need: your education, networking successes,
any work experience and specific skills such as
communication, leadership and teamwork.)
1.2. Weaknesses (negative aspects of the internal
environment: negative personal traits, lack of goals, poor grades etc.)
2. A personal mission. (A strongly felt aim or calling)
