Margaret Thatcher was the first woman to become a Prime Minister not only in the United Kingdom but also in
all European countries. She was also the only Prime Minister to serve 3 successive terms in the UK from 1979
to 1990. Margaret was born on October 13, 1925, in Lincolnshire, England. She was an excellent student
at school and was admitted to the University of Oxford. She studied chemistry there before graduating in

to manage government-owned corporations such as British Gas and British Telecom as she believed that
private companies could run those services better. Thatcher was famous for being tough and sticking to her
decisions. Although not all her policies received support from British people, Margaret Thatcher has been still
remembered as one of the most important politicians in modern British history.
