Businesses nowadays need to carefully plan and create a distinct marketing strategy to
penetrate their target markets and increase customer base while providing quality products
and services that will help the business to continue to grow and develop in a direction that
will allow it to achieve its goals. Marketing strategies are instrumental to helping businesses
to grow into strong competitors in their respective industries.
Provided below is an example of a checklist that you can utilize to check if your business’s
current marketing strategy is an efficient and effective strategy. This list may be modified as
needed to suit your convenience.
A. THE CLIENTS
❏ What is the criteria or the set of factors to be used as basis for identifying the target
market?
❏ What are the top 3 or 5 factors for the identification process (Examples: Gender, Age,
Occupation, Income Level)?
❏ What demographic surveys or tests will be done in order to analyze the number of
prospective clients available within the area of business?
❏ What tools or equipment are necessary to conduct such demographic surveys or tests?
❏ How long will it take to conduct, gather, analyze, and interpret all the information
obtained from such demographic surveys or tests?
❏ Are there other possible locations that offer a better percentage or number of
individuals who fit your business’s target market?
B. MARKETING STRATEGIES
❏ Will the product or service be able to bring joy or satisfy the customer once utilized?
❏ What is the business’ mission, vision, and set of values and how are these incorporated
into your products and/or services?
❏ Are the business’ current marketing strategies in accordance with the company goals?
❏ Are you able to accurately summarize our business strategy in no less than 15 to 30
seconds in a way easily understood by any individual, even non-officers or staff
members of your business?
❏ How will business improvement be rated? How will such improvements be incorporated
into the current marketing strategies?
❏ Are they able to compete well against prices offered by competitors in the industry?
❏ Are there any offers such as sales, premiums, discount prices, free offers and trials, and
so on that motivate customers to act quickly in purchasing the said product or service?

❏ Do customer service personnel respond to any inquiry or concern regarding the business
or its products and services in a prompt and professional manner?
❏ What is/are the main method/s of obtaining feedback from customers regarding the
products and services offered by the business?
❏ Does the business provide the customer with a contact number, email address, or any
other contact details that the customer may use to relay his or her feedback to the
business?
❏ Does the business continuously develop or find new methods for retaining customers?
❏ Does the business make use of flyers, posters, direct mail marketing, billboards,
television commercials, and radio advertisements to help spread the word about the
product or service currently offered?
❏ Have they considered joint marketing ventures to increase their sales or providing a joint
offer to the customers for a limited time?
❏ Is the business able to utilize social media to its advantage by creating pages on popular
websites such as Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and Pinterest to continuously update
customers on new products or services and allow for a direct feedback channel?
