Building a paragraph
1. Task 1: Hand copy the sample reports below:
Sample 1:
The diagram below shows the various stages involved in the production of beer.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons
where relevant.

The diagram illustrates the different steps in the procedure of mass producing beer in a factory.
Overall, the process includes ten steps, starting with handing malted barley as the input ingredient and
ending in packaging and delivering beer as the final product.
First, the malted barley is milled before being mashed with added water. The process continues with the
lautering stage for the mixture, in which spent grain is used for feeding farm animals. At the next phase,
once being boiled with the addition of sugar and hops, the liquid is now transfered to a whirlpool.
Subsequently, the mixture is taken out of the whirlpool to be cooled, prior to the fermenting stage, where
yeast and carbon dioxide are generated. It is then placed into large tanks for maturing purpose in order to
enter the filtering step later. Finally, beer as the finished product is packaged into bottles and barrels, which
are distributed to the market on trucks. (155 words).

Sample 2:
The diagrams below show the stages and equipment used in the cement-making process, and how
cement is used to produce concrete for building purposes.
Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons
where relevant.

The given diagrams illustrate the procedure of how cement is produced and subsequently used for making
concrete for the purposes of construction.
Overall, the cement manufacturing process involves four main stages, starting with crushing the input
ingredients and ending in packaging cement as the final product. It is also evident that cement merely
occupies a minor proportion of the concrete mixture.
At the first stage of cement production process, limestone and clay are crushed together into fine powder
before being transferred to a mixer. Afterwards, the mixture is placed into a rotating heater with the heat
entering from one end, to be ready for the grinding stage. Finally, cement, as the ground powder, is
packaged into bags for concrete making later.
The main ingredient of the concrete mixture, gravel, which is basically small stones, accounts for 50%,
double the percentage of sand. Meanwhile, the rates of cement and water are seen to be relatively low,
contributing only 15% and 10% respectively. All of these materials are placed together in a concrete mixer,
where they are well blended into concrete. (179 words)

topic sentence cho mặt lợi, 1 câu topic sentence cho mặt hại. Mặt nào có sức nặng hơn thì nói sau,

2.3. Nowadays, more and more older people who need employment compete with the younger
people for the same jobs. What problems does this cause? What are the possible solutions?
