“Read the Words, Say the Word”
Directions:
 The class shall be divided into fout groups.
 A group of words will be flashed
through Cartolina paper.
 The group will choose one
representative to answer every word
on Cartolina Paper
 Read silently the word or group of words.
 Once you know the correct answer,
raise your flag, and say the words
before your final answer.
 If you are incorrect, other groups have a
chance to steal.
 The group with the highest score shall
receive a reward.
These are the following words:
1) ALT-TEAR-NEAT IN-TEAR-YOUR
2) ALT-TEAR-NEAT EX-TEAR-YOUR

Exactly _________
D. Activity TRUE OR FALSE
(3 minutes) Direction: Write True if the statement is true, otherwise
FALSE.

1. Alternate interior are NOT always congruent. False

2. Alternate exterior are always congruent. True
3. Corresponding angles are always congruent. True
4. Interior angles on the same side of the transversal True
are supplementary.

E. Analysis Let’s Proceed to our discussion.

(4 minutes)  Parallel Lines Cut by Transversal
In Geometry, when any two parallel lines are cut by a
transversal, many pairs of angles are formed. There is a
relationship that exists between these pairs of angles.

PAGE 4 of NUMPAGES 5
 Parallel lines are straight equidistant lines that
lie on the same plane and never meet each
other. When any two parallel lines are
intersected by a line (known as the transversal),
the angles that are subsequently formed, have
a relationship.

 The various pairs of angles that are formed on

this intersection are Corresponding angles,
Alternate Interior Angles, Alternate Exterior
Angles and Consecutive Interior Angles.
Observe the figure given below which shows
two parallel lines 'a' and 'b' cut by a transversal
'l'.

Corresponding angles
When two parallel lines are intersected by a transversal,
the corresponding angles have the same relative
position. In the figure given above, the corresponding
angles formed by the intersection of the transversal are:

∠1 and ∠5
∠2 and ∠6
∠3 and ∠7
∠4 and ∠8
It should be noted that the pair of corresponding angles
are equal in measure, that is, ∠1 ≅ ∠5, ∠2 ≅ ∠6, ∠3 ≅
∠7, and ∠4 ≅ ∠8
Example:
If m∠1=1200 then ∠5 is also 1200 Yes sir!

PAGE 4 of NUMPAGES 5
Understand class?
Alternate Interior Angles
Alternate interior angles are formed on the inside of two
parallel lines which are intersected by a transversal. In
the figure given above, there are two pairs of alternate
interior angles.

∠3 and ∠6
∠4 and ∠5
It should be noted that the pair of alternate interior
angles are equal in measure, that is, ∠3 ≅ ∠6, and ∠4 ≅
∠5
Example:
If m∠3=1200 then ∠6 is also 1200 Yes sir!

Understand class?
Alternate Exterior Angles
When two parallel lines are cut by a transversal, the
pairs of angles formed on either side of the transversal
are named as alternate exterior angles. In the figure
given above, there are two pairs of alternate exterior
angles.

∠1 and ∠8
∠2 and ∠7
It should be noted that the pair of alternate exterior
angles are equal in measure, that is, ∠1 ≅ ∠8, and ∠2 ≅
∠7
Example: Yes sir!
If m∠1=1300 then ∠2 is also 1 300

Understand class?
Same side interior angles
are two angles that are on the interior of (between) the
two lines and specifically on the same side of the
transversal. The same-side interior angles sum up to
180 degrees.
It should be noted that unlike the other pairs given
above, the pair of consecutive interior angles are
supplementary, that is, ∠4 + ∠6 = 180°, and ∠3 + ∠5 =
180°.
Example:
If ∠4=130 then ∠6 = 50

Understand class?
Key ideas: Yes sir!
1. Alternate interior are always congruent.
2. Alternate exterior are always congruent.
3. Corresponding angles are always congruent.
4. Interior angles on the same side of the transversal
are supplementary.
F. Abstraction TRUE OR FALSE
(13 minutes) If TRUE, write your crush's name, if FALSE, write your
first name.
1. ∠1 ≅ ∠8,if m∠1=20 then m∠8=30.
2. Alternate interior are always congruent.
3. Interior angles on the same side of the transversal
are supplementary.
4. Corresponding angles are not always congruent.
5. If ∠4 = 1 10 0 then ∠6 = 7 00

G. Application

Find the following:

 Alternate interior
 Alternate exterior
 Corresponding angles
 Interior angles on the same side
