2. Scope Objectives

This Method statement details the procedure for the flooring and wall dado works and will
include all the operations related to flooring and dado works in order to maintain the
required standard.

5. Responsibility:

The Project Manager will be responsible for the delegation of work and to designate the
responsibilities to the concern persons.

6. Procedure/ Method of Application:

A. Marble cutting and protection sealer works :-


Details of application of stone sealer: -

• Ensure that 70% of back fiber or /as approved by project head is removed for better
adhesion, if a square fiber mesh is applied on the back side of the marble by the
supplier, application of the primer can be done directly above the mesh, without
removing the same to keep the stone intact.

• Ensure the stone surface is clean where primer is to be applied & also free from loose
particles
• Apply neatly the primer on the back side of the marble & the side edges using a soft
bristle brush. Leave it to soak for Smin and wipe excess primer with remaining on the
marble.
• Allow 30 min drying time between coats. Apply one or more coats as necessary
depending on the porosity of the marble.
• Allow it to dry for 22hrs before laying the marble.

Approved product: Under Tile & Stone Primer (Water based) of Ardex Endura or approved make

B. Marble laying works

• The floor area shall be cleaned and free from dirt, dust, loose particles prior to start
of flooring activity by the flooring contractor Reference level to be transferred from
standard level at lift shaft which has to be cross

• checked by Site Engineer

• Level pads to be fixed with respect to the reference level.

• Bedding of required thickness to be laid as per the manufacturer's specification of


the approved floor screed vendor Or The mixing ratio 1:6 (01. Cement: 02 Crushed
sand: 04 Natural sand) to be checked by site engineer. In any case, if the bedding is
more than 40mm, then M20 grade IPS has to be done by the principal contractor
(debited to civil contractor)
• Dry layout of marble (with water sprinkling over top) has to be done and the same
has to be cross checked by site Engineer.
• Post approval of Dry laying, the marble sisb shall be fine trimmed by diamond cutter
at all the edges
• Stack the approved dry lay in proper sequence (with number on back side of marble
slab) on the adjacent wall and spread white cement slurry on the bedding.
• Maintain a 5 mm gap on all sides near the wall (Below the skirting)
• Spread the neat slurry of approved make/white cement slurry back buttering with
thin white cement paste must be done and lay the marble as approved in the dry lay
and press the same with light tamping with rubber mallet, so that they are fixed
properly.
• Skirting area marble surface resin to be removed with hand machine before fixing of
the skirting in floor area.
• Post fixing the skirting in place, chamfer cutting to be done of uniform width & the
skirting to be polished during the phase of floor polishing.
• Polishing activity can start after 14 days of marble laying.
• Curing to be done for three days & afterward crosschecking for any hollowness or
faults in marble laying has to be checked prior to start of polishing activity and same

has to be repaired.

• The marble flooring has to be checked post laying and the same has to be protected
with flute board or equivalent PVC sheets of min 500GSM. The protection sheet has
to be fixed with PVC tape. In case of any plaster activity to be done after marble
fixing. plywood of 8mm thickness to be provided as a protection, in addition to the
flute board.
• After completion of other activities, the protection board has to be removed and the
• further marble polishing process can commence. The polishing should start with
Surie Polyex stone of 0 number & 1X stone with tabletop polishing machine
depending on existing polish conditions.
• Marble Joints and cracks (if any) needs to be filled with Tenax & thin layer of
approved epoxy grout to be applied over all the marble to seal all the micro cracks &
pores.
• Further polishing of marble is to be done with 2X, 3X, 4X and SX polish stones
depends upon an existing polish condition.
• Final Polishing of marble needs to be carried out with Technique stone along with tin
oxide powder/liquid.
• After final polishing the marble must be sealed with sealer coat (Pro seal or
equivalent) & checked for its gloss with Gloss meter. Minimum gloss required for
acceptance is 80 on Gloss meter.

C. Fixing of Marble on wall dado:-

• The Wall area shall be cleaned and free from dirt, dust, loose particles prior to start
of wall dado activities by the tiling contractor
• Check the existing Bull Marking (dhada) and Level pads & marble marking for line,
level & right angle with reference, any deviation shall be noted & brought to the site
Engineer for correction & rectification/solution (marking of marbles on plastered
wall & fixing of level pad/bull marking shall be done prior to start plumbing work).
• Pre-wet the plaster surface prior to application of wall marble
• Apply neat white cement paste behind the marble for back buttering & after setting
of back buttering material fixed the marble with neat white cement paste & press it
evenly with light tamping so that the marble is fixed properly. Care should be taken
that the marble joints of floor and wall dado are in line and matching or has to be as
per approved drawing.
• After 24 hrs. of wall dado works of level (1M), pour white cement slurry grout behind
the wall dado marble for each level(1M). Sufficient supports have to be provided
before grouting.
• Complete the above procedure till the wall marble work is completed.
• Clean the entire marble area with a clean cloth. Open the joints with steel patra patti
and fill the same with Tenax approved colour.
• Final Polishing of marble needs to be carried out with Technique stone.

A. Request for inspection and permit to work to be approved.


B. Personal protective equipment to be worn by the workers.
C. Toolbox Talk/ job specific training program to be conducted before start of activity.
D. Safe working practices

a. All activities shall be planned, supervised, and carried out in a safe manner under the
control of competent person, who knows the responsibility.
b. Equipment operation and transportation shall be carried out in safe manner by
competent bank man/flag man.
c. The working area shall be maintained good housekeeping and proper access.
d. All equipment shall be suitable for the specified work.
e. Proper area lighting and focus lighting during night operation.
