SINGING - PRACTICING CHUNKS

PRACTICE INSTRUCTIONS.

Remember there are different actions you can practice.

1. Repeat
2. Say the opposite
3. Change tense
4. Say something true for you
5. Substitution
6. Synonyms

Tone deaf (cannot recognise different notes)

I’m tone deaf - repeat

I’m completely tone deaf - repeat

I’m completely tone deaf - Use a synonym for completely

You might say,


I’m totally tone deaf
I’m absolutely tone deaf

I’m completely tone deaf - Substitute rather for completely

You should say,


I’m rather tone deaf

I’m completely tone deaf - Substitute another adverb for completely

You might say,


I’m slightly tone deaf
I’m pretty much tone deaf

I’m slightly tone deaf - what about you?

As much as I might try (although I try a lot)

As much as - repeat

As much as I might try - repeat

As much as I might try I can’t sing well - repeat

As much as I might try I can’t sing well - change to a future tense

You might say,


As much as I might try I won’t be able to sing well
As much as I might try I am not going to be able to sing well

Don’t change the tense of ‘as much as I might try’ - that is a fixed phrase.

As much as I might try I can’t sing well - substitute another verb for sing

You might say,


As much as I might try I can’t dance well
As much as I might try I can’t paint well

As much as I might try I can’t sing well - what about you?

Out of tune (not in tune)

Out of tune - repeat

I sing out of tune - repeat

I sing totally out of tune - repeat

he sings totally out of tune - say the opposite

You might say,


He doesn’t sing totally out of tune
He sings in tune

he sings totally out of tune - Substitute any other adverb for totally

You might say,


he sings completely out of tune
he sings rather out of tune
he sings slightly out of tune
he sings pretty much out of tune

I sing out of tune - what about you?

Have the stomach - repeat

I have the stomach to sing in front of others - repeat

I have the stomach to sing in front of others - say the opposite

You might say,


I don’t have the stomach to sing in front of others
I’m too afraid to sing in front of others
I only have the stomach to sing to/for myself

I have the stomach to sing in front of others - Change to any conditional tense

You might say,


I will have the stomach to sing in front of others, if I have a drink first
I would have the stomach to sing in front of others, if I had a drink first

Last week, I would have had the stomach to sing in front of others, if I had had a drink first

I don’t have the stomach to sing in front of others - say something true for you

Finally Practice some more by saying an answer to this question.

Remember don’t write it down, just speak it out!
