The sweater is designed to fit with 2-4” of positive ease. Choose a size that reflects your chest measurement plus
the amount of ease you want.
Yoke Depth: 8 (8, 8.5, 9) (9, 9.5, 10, 10)” measured from cast on edge straight down center front
Body from underarm to bottom of ribbing: 13.25”
Sleeve from underarm to bottom of cuff: 18”

Since the sweater is worked top down, all length measurements are adjustable. Fit tips will be given throughout
the instructions.

YARN
Liverpool Yarns Fingering, 100% Shetland Wool, approx. 180 yds/50 g, 6 (6, 7, 7) (8, 9, 9, 10) skeins Color A and 1
(1, 2, 2) (2, 2, 2, 2) skeins Color B. Sample shown in Straw (Color A) and Daylily (Color B).

If you want to add length to the body and/or sleeves, you will need additional yarn in Color A.

NEEDLES
For neck
US size 2 (2.75 mm) 16” or 20” circular needle, or two sizes smaller than gauge needle.
For body
US size 4 (3.5 mm) 32” or 40” circular needle, or size needed to obtain gauge.
Note: If you tend to knit tighter when working stranded knitting, you may want to go up a needle size when
working that portion of the yoke.
For bottom ribbing
US size 2 (2.75 mm) 32” or 40” circular needle, or two sizes smaller than gauge needle.
For sleeves
US size 4 (3.5 mm) in your preferred type of needles for working small circumferences, or size needed to obtain
gauge.
For bottom sleeve ribbing
US size 2 (2.75 mm) in your preferred type of needles for working small circumferences, or two sizes smaller than
gauge needle.

NOTES & TECHNIQUES


• Sweater is worked seamlessly and in the round from the top down. Short rows raise the back neck.
The color work yoke is worked, then the sleeves and body are separated and worked top to bottom.
• Increases are worked as yarn overs on the increase round and knitted through the back loop on the
following round.
• When working with more than one color, carry color not in use up inside of yoke, except when noted
otherwise.
• The directions are given for the smallest size with larger sizes in parentheses. When one number is
given, it applies to all sizes.

SWEATER
With circular needle two sizes smaller than gauge needle and Color A, cast on 108 (108, 108, 112) (112, 112, 116,
116) sts. Join for working in the round, taking care not to twist stitches. Place marker for BOR (this is the center
back).
Neck ribbing rnd 1: *K2, p2. Rep from * to end of rnd.
Work Rnd 1 a total of 6 times.
Change to gauge needle.
Knit one round.

INCREASE to 152 (160, 160, 168) (168, 168, 172, 172) sts as follows:
A: K1, (yo, k3) 10x, (yo, k2) 23x, (yo, k3) 10x, yo, k1.
B and C: K1, (yo, k3) 2x, (yo, k2) 47x, (yo, k3) 2x, yo, k1.
D, E and F: K1, *(yo, k2). Rep from * to last st, yo, k1.
G and H: K1, (yo, k3) 2x, (yo, k2) 51x, (yo, k3) 2x, yo, k1.

Knit one round, knitting through the back of yos of previous rnd.

Short rows
Work short rows using your preferred method.
Set up Row 1 (RS): K20 (24, 24, 27) (27, 27, 30, 30), w&t.
Set up Row 2 (WS): Purl to BOR, sm, p20 (24, 24, 27) (27, 27, 30, 30), w&t.
Row 1 (RS): Knit to BOR, sm, knit to wrapped stitch, pick up wrap and knit it together with its stitch, k8, w&t.
Row 2 (WS): Purl to BOR, sm, purl to wrapped stitch, pick up wrap and purl it together with its stitch, p8, w&t.

Work Rows 1 and 2 a total of 4 times, ending on WS.

Next rnd: Knit to BOR, sm, knit one round even, picking up wraps and knitting them together with their stitches
as you come to them.

Knit one round even.

Join Color B and work Color Band #1:


Rnds 1 and 2: With Color B, knit.
Rnds 3 and 4: *K3 with Color A, k1 with Color B. Rep from * to end of round.
Rnd 5: *K3 with Color A, kfbf with Color B. Rep from * to end of round.
Rnd 6: *K3 with Color A, p3tog with Color B. Rep from * to end of round.

Knit one round with Color A.

INCREASE to 200 (216, 216, 224) (224, 224, 232, 232) sts as follows, using Color A:
A: K2, (yo, k3) 20x, (yo, k4) 7x, (yo, k3) 20x, yo, k2.
B and C: K1, (yo, k3) 24x, (yo, k2) 7x, (yo, k3) 24x, yo, k1.
D, E and F: K1, *(yo, k3). Rep from * to last 2 sts, yo, k2.
G and H: K1, (yo, k3) 26x, (yo, k2) 7x, (yo, k3) 26x, yo, k1.

Knit one round with Color A, knitting through the back of yos of previous rnd.

Knit one round with Color A.

Work Color Band #2:


Rnds 1 and 2: With Color B, knit.
Rnds 3 and 4: *K3 with Color A, k1 with Color B. Rep from * to end of round.
Rnd 5: *K3 with Color A, kfbf with Color B. Rep from * to end of round.
Rnd 6: *K3 with Color A, p3tog with Color B. Rep from * to end of round.

Knit one round with Color A.

INCREASE to 248 (268, 268, 280) (280, 280, 292, 292) sts as follows, using Color A:
A: K2, (yo, k5) 4x, (yo, k4) 39x, (yo, k5) 4x, yo, k2.

Knit one round with Color A, knitting through the back of yos of previous rnd.

Knit one round with Color A.

Work Color Band #3:


Rnds 1 and 2: With Color B, knit.
Rnds 3 and 4: *K3 with Color A, k1 with Color B. Rep from * to end of round.
Rnd 5: *K3 with Color A, kfbf with Color B. Rep from * to end of round.

Rnds 3 and 4: *K3 with Color A, k1 with Color B. Rep from * to end of round.

Rnd 6: *K3 with Color A, p3tog with Color B. Rep from * to end of round.

Knit one round with Color A.

INCREASE to 304 (324, 352, 376) (376, 390, 406, 424) sts as follows, using Color A:
A: K37, (yo, k75) 3x, yo, k38.
B: No increase; knit one round even.
C: K6, (yo, k11) 6x, (yo, k12) 15x, (yo, k11) 6x, yo, k6.
D and E: K4, (yo, k9) 8x, (yo, k8) 23x, (yo, k9) 8x, yo, k4.
F: K3, (yo, k7) 6x, (yo, k6) 41x, (yo, k7) 6x, yo, k3.
G: K3, *(yo, k6). Rep from * to last 3 sts, yo, k3.
H: K2, (yo, k5) 22x, (yo, k4) 31x, (yo, k5) 22x, yo, k2.

Knit one round with Color A, knitting through the back of yos of previous rnd. For size B, knit one round even.

INCREASE to 304 (324, 352, 392) (416, 444, 464, 500) sts as follows, using Color A:
A, B, and C: No increase; knit one round even.
D: K12, (yo, k23) 4x, (yo, k24) 7x, (yo, k23) 4x, yo, k12.
E: K5, (yo, k9) 12x, (yo, k10) 15x, (yo, k9) 12x, yo, k5.
F: K4, (yo, k7) 21x, (yo, k8) 11x, (yo, k7) 21x, yo, k4.
G: K3, *(yo, k7). Rep from * to last 4 sts, yo, k4.
H: K3, (yo, k5) 16x, (yo, k6) 43x, (yo, k5) 16x, yo, k3.

Knit one round with Color A, knitting through the back of yos of previous rnd. For sizes A, B and C, knit one round
even.

Break Color B and continue with Color A until yoke measures 8 (8, 8.5, 9) (9, 9.5, 10, 10)” from cast on edge,
measuring straight down front of yoke.

FIT TIP: Put yoke sts on waste yarn, and try on to see if the yoke is the right length for you. Work a few more
rounds, if necessary, to bring the yoke to the correct length before dividing the sleeves from the body.

FIT TIP: Before dividing the sleeves and the body, you may want to block the yoke as this is the last chance
you’ll have to lay it flat.

DIVIDE SLEEVES AND BODY


With Color A, k45 (50, 55, 61) (66, 71, 75, 81) back sts, transfer next 62 (62, 66, 74) (76, 80, 82, 88) sts to waste yarn
for sleeve, cast on 8 (10, 12, 12) (14, 16, 20, 20) sts for underarm, k90 (100, 110, 122) (132, 142, 150, 162) front sts,
transfer next 62 (62, 66, 74) (76, 80, 82, 88) sts to waste yarn for sleeve, cast on 8 (10, 12, 12) (14, 16, 20, 20) sts for
underarm, knit to end of round.

There are now 196 (220, 244, 268) (292, 316, 340, 364) sts on the needle for the body.

Work even in Stockinette stitch until body measures 10” from underarm, or 3.25” less than desired length.

Work Color Band:


Rnds 1 and 2: With Color B, knit.
Rnds 3 and 4: *K3 with Color A, k1 with Color B. Rep from * to end of round.
Rnd 5: *K3 with Color A, kfbf with Color B. Rep from * to end of round.
Rnd 6: *K3 with Color A, p3tog with Color B. Rep from * to end of round.

Break Color B and continue with Color A. Knit 4 rounds with Color A.

FIT TIP: Put body sts on waste yarn and try on to see if the body is the right length for you. Work a few more
rounds, if necessary, to bring the body to the correct length before working the ribbing.

Ribbing
Change to circular needle two sizes smaller than gauge needle.
Bottom body ribbing rnd 1: *K2, p2. Rep from * to end of rnd.
Work Rnd 1 until ribbing measures 2”. Bind off in pattern.

Sleeves (make two)


Transfer sleeve sts to gauge needle for working small circumferences. Beginning at center of underarm sts, with
Color A, pick up and knit 4 (5, 6, 6) (7, 8, 10, 10) sts, knit across sleeve sts, pick up and knit 4 (5, 6, 6) (7, 8, 10, 10)
sts: 70 (72, 78, 86) (90, 96, 102, 108) sts.
Knit 7 rnds.

Dec rnd: K2, k2tog, knit to last 4 sts, ssk, k2.


Work this dec rnd every 12th (12th, 10th, 8th) (8th, 6th, 6th, 4th) rnd a total of 9 (10, 11, 15) (15, 18, 19, 22) times:
52 (52, 56, 56) (60, 60, 64, 64) sts. AND AT SAME TIME, when sleeve measures 14.5” from underarm or 3.25” less
than desired length:
Work Color Band, incorporating decreases into pattern:
Rnds 1 and 2: With Color B, knit.
Rnds 3 and 4: *K3 with Color A, k1 with Color B. Rep from * to end of round.
Rnd 5: *K3 with Color A, kfbf with Color B. Rep from * to end of round.
Rnd 6: *K3 with Color A, p3tog with Color B. Rep from * to end of round.

Break Color B and continue with Color A. Knit 4 rounds with Color A.

Work even, if necessary, until sleeve measures 16” from underarm, or 2” less than desired length.

FIT TIP: Try on sweater to see if the sleeve is the right length for you. Work a few more rounds, if necessary, to
bring the sleeve to the correct length before working the ribbing.

Ribbing
Change to needle two sizes smaller than gauge needle for working small circumferences.
Bottom sleeve ribbing rnd 1: *K2, p2. Rep from * to end of rnd.
Work Rnd 1 until ribbing measures 2”. Bind off in pattern.

FINISHING
Weave in loose ends. Block to finished measurements.
