 IMPORTANT FOR YOUR SAFETY

This user’s manual provides information on the correct
use of the Autoclave. During sterilisation, the pressure
applied to the lid inside the chamber at above 121 °C is
equivalent to 2.1 bars. In order to achieve complete
sterilisation, high temperature and extreme pressure of
saturated steam are essential. The Autoclave must be
handled with great care, then
is strongly recommended to read it
carefully before using this autoclave.

Fig.1

Push the button PROGRAM, Fig. 1, and set up, through the
numerical buttons the number of the program you are going to insert
or modify.

When the number of the program is confirmed, the “STER:TEMP”.

parameter is shown, related to the temperature of the required
sterilisation, which can be modified, as you desire within the working
limitation of the Autoclave (101 °C - 134 °C).

At this point when also this last value is set-up, the parameter
“TIME” is shown, related to the duration in minutes (1-99) of the
maintenance of the sterilising temperature.

Once this last parameter has been inserted, the program is

permanently kept in memory until the following alteration, even in
absence of electrical feeding.

When is necessary, repeat the same operation for the other programs.

Use

Turn the Steroclave on, by operating on the main switch (located on

the right side of the Control Panel, Fig. 1 (2) of the cover and lift it
up.

If the Autoclave is equipped with the security cap (code 750-CP),

push the appropriate releasing push-button Fig. 2 (1).

Fig. 2

Open the cap of the sterilisation chamber Fig. 2 (3) and turn counter-
wise the closing hand-wheel, Fig. 2 (1), and put the cap itself apart.
Fill the bottom part of the container with a quantity of distilled water,
sufficient to cover the warming worm wheel, placed on the bottom
part. Generally it requires around 2 litres.

TKA Teknolabo A.S.S.I. Via Varalli 1/B ROZZANO (MI) – ITALY +39 02 57510931 r.a.
STEROCLAVE 24 & 55 User’s manual rev. 03/2002 page 10

Using water not distilled will cause the formation of lime deposits,
which may damage all the components and the container itself.

Put the perforated pan over the warming worm wheel.

Take the pressure cover back to the closing position, Fig. 2 (2) and
turn the closing hand –wheel clockwise to lock the cover itself.

Verify the following conditions:

• The bottle for the steam harvesting contains at least an half

litre of water
• The steam waste-pipe is plunged in the water itself
• The cap is well screwed down on the bottle
• The hole over the cap, to equalise the pressure, is not obstructed.

If the Autoclave is equipped with the security cover (code 750-CP),

pull it down, then press the appropriate locking push-button.

Verify that the tap is turned off, Fig. 3.

Fig. 3

Selection of the program to use

Press the button “SELECT”, Fig. 1, and set up, through the
numerical keys, the number of the program you need to use. Press the
button “START” .If the Autoclave is equipped with the security cap
(cover) (code 750-CP), and if it is not properly closed, the message
“CLOSE THE COVER” is shown, when closed the Steroclave itself
is providing to lock it.

On this first step the message “PRE HEATING” will appear till the
displayed temperature is of 100.

During these first minutes of the cycle (on condition that the
Steroclave is “cold”) can be noticed the running of the heating
element and if it is not revealed a proper increase of the temperature,
can be signalised a possible failure in the system and the message
“ERROR 2 NO HEATING” is shown.

STEROCLAVE 24 & 55 User’s manual rev. 03/2002 page 12

A further check over the heating element locks the cycle in case of
overheating of the element itself, situation marked by an acoustic
alarm and by the message “ERROR 1 OVER HEATING” on the
display.

WARNING
The cap reaches a very high temperature; please pay
attention in touching this part!!!

When the Steroclave reaches the 100 °C it will proceed automatically

to the expulsion of the residual and unsaturable steam and air exhaust
(AIR EXHAUST) still existing in the sterilisation chamber.
The phase of the expulsion of air/steam begins at the same time of the
preheating of the Autoclave and becomes more and more evident
with the raising of the temperature followed in the latest phases, by a
light noise arising from the air and the steam gurgling together
(through the steam recovery bottle.)
At the end of the expulsion cycle the breather valve will
automatically be closed, the message “STEAM GENERATION”
will be on and the temperature will raise till getting the value already
set-up in the program. Once the value has been reached, the message
“STERILISATION” is shown and will start the countdown of the
required time for the sterilisation.
The temperature appearing on the display will be approximated to the
whole closer to it, this means that the changes of the phases due to
the temperature are not in accordance to the visualised value.

When the sterilisation cycle is over, the message “END OF

CYCLE” is shown and you will hear an acoustic alarm till the
operator pushes the button STOP in Fig. 1.

STEROCLAVE 24 & 55 User’s manual rev. 03/2002 page 13

Right now the program is over and it is time to wait for the
Steroclave to cool down.

It is possible to accelerate this phase operating on the tap, placed on

the right side of the manometer, Fig. 3 (1), turning it counter-wise to
let the steam coming out from the chamber, through the steam
recovery bottle.

It is also possible to use the electrical control by opening and closing

for a short time the breather valve, in case the pressure is already
considerably reduced.

WARNING
An extreme care has to be taken in dosing the entity of the steam-
outlet, as inside the Chamber is existing pressure steam.

If the Autoclave is equipped with the security cap (code 750-

CP), and it is required to unlock it, on the screen will appear
the message “CHECK TEMP.PRESSURE “.

WARNING
Before opening the cap, please verify also that there is not any residual
pressure inside the chamber, watching the indications on the manometer,
Fig. 2 (2) and operating on the control of the air breather valve taking it in
position OPEN. Then proceed anyway with extreme care, reminding that the
machine has reached a very high temperature and because inside of it there is
still steam.

In case you have been waiting until the Steroclave has become cool
without any steam-outlet, it is important to remember that an internal
temperature lower than 100 °C has made a certain gap, which besides
hampering the opening of the cover, can also recall water from the

exhaust bottle, if there is (as it should be) and the connection through
the tap or the electrical valve is opened.
In that case it is better to remove the exhaust pipe from the bottle
before proceeding, taking care to put it back correctly on position
before using it again.
At the end of the use, take the residual water still inside the
Autoclave away. Verify periodically the status of the heating element,
accessible by taking the perforated pan away, located on the bottom
of the pressure container.
In case of lime deposits, provide to remove them without any damage
for the element itself.

Further information

On the bottom of the Autoclave there is a lever tap to make the

pressure container empty.

Safety devices

Besides the already mentioned checks right inside the sterilisation

cycle, concerning the warming element, there is a further protection
against the overpressure, totally independent from the microprocessor
cycle.

The Printer-recorder

The Steroclave has a standard Printer-recorder to print the report of

the sterilisation cycle.
