A. Reviewing previous Before we proceed to our
lesson or presenting the next topic, we will have a
new lesson short review about what
we have tackled on the
previous meeting. Just
like what we did on our
previous meeting, I have
here my lucky box which
contains your name.

the chance to recite and
garner points at the end
of the lesson.

that all of you have

Yes, Teacher Xavier.
may I request everyone to
be attentive and be ready
because we will have an
activity.
For this activity, I call this
“Unscramble Me”. I will
draw from this Lucky Box

seconds to unscramble or through the lucky

female’s reproductive

C. Presenting Now that we are aware of
examples/instances of our topic today. Let us
the new lesson play a game called “Is it a
Fact or Bluff?”
Let’s divide the class into
two groups. We have the

instruction.
Instruction: Raise the
Fact or Bluff Card if you
think that is the answer.

only given 5 seconds to
present your answer. At
the end of 5 seconds, the
answer will be shown

(Lucky Draw), what have
you observed on our
activity? Teacher, I have noticed
that it is all about
Menstruation.
Exactly! Our activity is all
about menstruation. What
Teacher, I think that
could it be the connection
because the previous
of our topic this afternoon
week topic is about
from the topic last week,
hormones.
(Lucky Draw)?

Impressive answer! It has

something to do with our Teacher, it is a system
next topic. Any idea about in a living body that
Feedback Mechanism, works to return the
(Lucky Draw)? body to its normal
internal state, or
commonly known as
homeostasis.

Amazing answer.
Feedback mechanism is
a regulatory system that
returns a body or
ecosystem to a normal
state or exacerbates the
abnormal state.
As you have observed
earlier, there are two
types of feedback The two types of
mechanism. Again, what feedback mechanism
are those, (Lucky Draw)? are the positive and
negative feedback
mechanisms.

Correct! The two types of

feedback mechanism are
positive and negative
feedback mechanisms.
(Lucky Draw) Do you
have an idea when we
say positive feedback Teacher, positive
mechanism? feedback mechanism
are boosters that
Very Good, (Student’s makes things happen
Name)! faster or stronger.
How about the negative Teacher, negative
feedback mechanism, feedback mechanism is
(Lucky Draw)? “self-correcting system
in our body.

Absolutely Correct,
(Student’s Name).
Feedback Mechanism
controls the timing and
number of hormones
released by various
glands which is in-built in
our body. For example, if
the sugar level in the
blood rises too much,
they are detected by the
cells of pancreas which
respond by producing and
secreting more insulin
into blood.
D. Discussing new During puberty in both
concepts and practicing males and females, the
new skills #1 hypothalamus produces
gonadotropin-releasing
hormones (GnRH)
“In which gland produces
GnRH, again, (Lucky
Draw)?” Hypothalamus
Very Good,
Gonadotropin-releasing
hormones (GnRH)
stimulates the production
and release of follicle-
stimulating hormone
(FSH) and luteinizing
hormone (LH).
“In which gland, these
FSH and LH are from Anterior Pituitary Gland
(Lucky Draw)?”
Very Good. These
hormones regulate the
gonads (testes in males
and ovaries in females)
and therefore called
gonadotropins. In both
males and females, FSH
stimulates gamete
production and LH
stimulates production of
hormones by gonads. An
increase in gonad
hormone levels inhibits
GnRH production through
a negative feedback loop.
Examples of processes
that utilizes positive
feedback loop includes:
Childbirth – stretching
uterine walls cause
contraction that further
stretch the walls (this
continues until birthing
occurs)
(Students listen
Examples of processes attentively)
that utilizes negative
feedback loops include
homeostatic systems
such as:
Thermoregulation – if a
body temperature
changes, mechanisms
are induced to restore
normal levels.
During menstruation,
rising level of hormones
to increase hormone
production. During most
of the menstrual cycle,
estrogen and
progesterone provide
negative feedback to the
hypothalamus and
pituitary gland. This
keeps their levels more or
less constant.
Phases of the Menstrual
Cycle:
Menstrual Phase: Uterus
lining is prepared for
implantation starts to
shed which lasts 3 to 5
days.
Follicular Phase: In this
phase, the primary follicle
starts developing into a
mature Graffian follicle.
The endometrium also
starts proliferating. The
uterus starts preparation
for a pregnancy.
Ovulatory Phase: Mid-
cycle phase, this is the (Students listen
phase in which ovulation attentively)
takes place. The end of
follicular phase along with
the ovulation period
defines the fertilization
period.
Luteal Phase: It is the
post-ovulation phase,
where the fate of the
corpus luteum is decided.
If fertilization occurs,
pregnancy starts. If
fertilization doesn’t occur,
it marks the onset of
another cycle.
During pregnancy, the
feedback mechanisms is
the release of oxytocin
form the posterior
pituitary gland during
labor is an example of
positive feedback
mechanism. Oxytocin
stimulates the muscle
contraction that push the
baby through the birth
canal. The release of
oxytocin result in stronger
or augmented
contractions during labor.
