I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards The learners demonstrate an understanding of how
feedback mechanism help the organism maintain
homeostasis.
B. Performance The learners should be able to distinguish the role
Standards of hormones of the reproductive system during
puberty, ovulation and pregnancy.
C. Learning The learners should be able to explain the role of
Competencies hormones in the male and female reproductive
system.
D. Objectives At the end of the lesson the learners are expected
to:
Describe what is feedback mechanism;
Summarize the events of the menstrual
cycle through menstrual cycle diagram;
Promote the significance of feedback
mechanisms in Female Reproductive
System.

everyone! Teacher!
Amazing answer.
Feedback mechanism is
a regulatory system that
returns a body or
ecosystem to a normal
state or exacerbates the
abnormal state.
As you have observed
earlier, there are two
types of feedback The two types of
mechanism. Again, what feedback mechanism
are those, (Lucky Draw)? are the positive and
negative feedback
mechanisms.
Absolutely Correct,
(Student’s Name).
Feedback Mechanism
controls the timing and
number of hormones
released by various
glands which is in-built in
our body. For example, if
the sugar level in the
blood rises too much,
they are detected by the
cells of pancreas which
respond by producing and
secreting more insulin
into blood.
D. Discussing new During puberty in both
concepts and practicing males and females, the
new skills #1 hypothalamus produces
gonadotropin-releasing
hormones (GnRH)
“In which gland produces
GnRH, again, (Lucky
Draw)?” Hypothalamus
Very Good,
Gonadotropin-releasing
hormones (GnRH)
stimulates the production
and release of follicle-
stimulating hormone
(FSH) and luteinizing
hormone (LH).
“In which gland, these
FSH and LH are from Anterior Pituitary Gland
(Lucky Draw)?”
Very Good. These
hormones regulate the
gonads (testes in males
and ovaries in females)
and therefore called
gonadotropins. In both
males and females, FSH
stimulates gamete
production and LH
stimulates production of
hormones by gonads. An
increase in gonad
hormone levels inhibits
GnRH production through
a negative feedback loop.
Examples of processes
that utilizes positive
feedback loop includes:
Childbirth – stretching
uterine walls cause
contraction that further
stretch the walls (this
continues until birthing
occurs)
(Students listen
Examples of processes attentively)
that utilizes negative
feedback loops include
homeostatic systems
such as:
Thermoregulation – if a
body temperature
changes, mechanisms
are induced to restore
normal levels.
During menstruation,
rising level of hormones
to increase hormone
production. During most
of the menstrual cycle,
estrogen and
progesterone provide
negative feedback to the
hypothalamus and
pituitary gland. This
keeps their levels more or
less constant.
Phases of the Menstrual
Cycle:
Menstrual Phase: Uterus
lining is prepared for
implantation starts to
shed which lasts 3 to 5
days.
Follicular Phase: In this
phase, the primary follicle
starts developing into a
mature Graffian follicle.
The endometrium also
starts proliferating. The
uterus starts preparation
for a pregnancy.
Ovulatory Phase: Mid-
cycle phase, this is the (Students listen
phase in which ovulation attentively)
takes place. The end of
follicular phase along with
the ovulation period
defines the fertilization
period.
Luteal Phase: It is the
post-ovulation phase,
where the fate of the
corpus luteum is decided.
If fertilization occurs,
pregnancy starts. If
fertilization doesn’t occur,
it marks the onset of
another cycle.
During pregnancy, the
feedback mechanisms is
the release of oxytocin
form the posterior
pituitary gland during
labor is an example of
positive feedback
mechanism. Oxytocin
stimulates the muscle
contraction that push the
baby through the birth
canal. The release of
oxytocin result in stronger
or augmented
contractions during labor.
E. Developing mastery Who wants another

assessment) whether you are listening
very carefully on the
discussion earlier, we
play a game called “Bright

and work as a group in

Next meeting will be a
graded recitation for us to
test if you have spent
some of your time
reading.
