1. KP Sharma Oli Sworn In As PM Of Nepal

 Nepal President Ram Chandra Paudel appointed


KP Sharma Oli, chairman of the Communist
Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist Leninist, as the
new Prime Minister.
 Oli replaces Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda,
who lost a vote of confidence.
 Oli, backed by Nepali Congress president Sher
Bahadur Deuba, submitted signatures from 165
House members. President Paudel will
administer the oath of office to Oli and his
cabinet.

2. Vikram Misri Assumes Charge As Foreign
Secretary

 Vikram Misri assumed charge as the new


Foreign Secretary, succeeding Vinay Mohan
Kwatra.
 A 1989 batch IFS officer, Misri was previously
Deputy National Security Advisor.
 He has served as the Indian Envoy to China,
Myanmar, and Spain and as Private Secretary to
Prime Ministers Inder Kumar Gujral,
Manmohan Singh, and Narendra Modi.

On X, With Over 100 Million Followers

 Prime Minister Narendra Modi has surpassed


100 million followers on his social media
account X, becoming the world's most followed
leader in office on the platform.
 Modi's followers increased by 30 million over
the past three years, significantly outpacing
other leaders like US President Joe Biden, who
has 38.1 million followers.
 Modi expressed his appreciation for the vibrant
medium and looks forward to continued
engagement.
 Home Minister Amit Shah congratulated Modi,
highlighting his unparalleled popularity and
global statesmanship.

To 7 Trillion Dollars By 2030: Report

 India's retail digital payments are projected to


double to $7 trillion by 2030, according to a
study by Kerney and Amazon Pay.

 Digital payments for retail transactions reached
$3.6 trillion in 2023-24, up from $300 billion in
2017-18. UPI transactions, introduced in 2016,
saw a 138% growth from 2018 to 2024.
 India's e-commerce market, worth $75-80
billion in 2022, is expected to grow by 21% by
2030.
 Cards and digital wallet transactions account for
10% of the digital transaction value. In 2022,
India's digital transactions comprised 46% of
the world's digital payment volumes.

Championship 2024

 Argentina won their second consecutive Copa


America, defeating Colombia 1-0 with Lautaro
Martínez scoring in extra time.
 This marks Argentina's record 16th title.
Martínez also won the Golden Boot with five
goals. The match, delayed by crowd trouble,
ended Colombia's 28-game unbeaten streak.
 Lionel Messi, in his 39th tournament appearance
at age 37, scored one goal and was substituted
due to injury in the 64th minute.

Paris Olympics 2024 In Wrestling

 Indian wrestlers Antim Panghal and Aman
Sehrawat have been seeded fourth and sixth,
respectively, for the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
 This is the first Olympics with seedings, based
on performances at recent championships.
 Vinesh Phogat will compete unseeded in the
women's 50kg freestyle category.

History

 Manvi Madhu Kashyap and two other


transgender individuals have made history by
becoming Bihar's first transwoman sub-
inspectors.
 Despite being turned away by coaching centers,
Kashyap successfully passed the BPSSC exams.

New CEO

 Paytm Payments Bank has named Arun Kumar


Bansal, a former executive of IDBI Bank, as its
new MD and CEO, with approval from the RBI.
 Bansal succeeds Surinder Chawla, who retired
in June.

9. Government Appoints Robert J Ravi as New
CMD of BSNL

 The government has appointed Robert Jerard


Ravi as the new Chairman and Managing
Director of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited
(BSNL), effective July 15.
 This decision comes as P K Purwar, who has
served as CMD of both BSNL and MTNL since
July 2019, was not granted an extension.

10. India’s Population to Peak at 1.7 Billion by 2060s
Before Declining: UN Report

 According to a new United Nations report,


India's population is projected to peak at 1.7
billion in the early 2060s before decreasing by
12 percent.
 Despite this decline, India is expected to remain
the most populous nation until 2100, surpassing
China. India overtook China as the world's most
populous country last year.
