Semester: IlI Time: 9.30 am - 10.30 am
Note: Answer one FULL question from each part.
Assume missing data suitably. Total Marks: 25
PART-A CO
Q1 05 M 1(01)
a. State Hook's law and draw stress strain diagram for mild steel with
salient's points.
b A mild steel bar of diameter 20 mm is subjected to a tensile load of 7.5 M 1(04)
100kN. Determine the stress developed in the bar, the extension
and strain if its original length is 200mm. Take E for mild steel as
Es= 200x10° Nimm².

Q2 1(02)
a. Define Young's modulus and Bulk modulus and derive the relation M
05
between them.
b A cube of size 100mmx10Ommx10Omm is subjected to forces of 7.5 M 1(04)
100Kn (Tensile), 200Kn(Compressive) and 50 kn (Compressive) in
X, Y and Z directions respectively. Determine the change in Volume
if E= 200x10° N/mm and Poisson's 0.30
