LESSON PLAN IN MATHEMATICS 10

I. OBJECTIVES

Content Standards The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts of

measures of position.

Performance Standards The learner is able to conduct systematically a mini-research

applying the different statistical methods.

Learning Illustrates the following measure of position: quartile, deciles and

Competencies/Objectives percentiles. M1OSP-Iva-1
with MELC CODE Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
a) Determine the position of percentile of grouped data.
b) Solve and interpret the value of percentile for grouped
data.
c) Relate percentiles for grouped data to real life.

Arrrgh, Ahoy mateys!

A pleasant morning to you all, class, "A pleasant morning to

you teachers."
Today, you're going to witness the
voyage of Cipher's Jolly Pirates. Now,
allow me to introduce myself: I'm your
superior captain, Christian Dave R.

pirates. You can call me Captain Dave.

Are we clear, students? “Yes sir”

Moving on, let us first check the

"Now, class, I have here an incentive

chart. Since you're also pirates, and
pirates crave gold coins, you're going to
fill this empty treasure box with golden
coins. To do that, first, I'm going to
divide you all into six groups.

Then, we have the mechanics on how

you're going to get the golden coins."

The mechanics of this incentive

 Do not shout your answers.
 Only correct answers are
valid for earning coins.
 The group that behaves the
best will receive +5
coins/points.

 When the members of the

group show collaboration,
they will receive an
additional +5 coins/points.

"Then class, after our session for today,

I'm going to allow you to access the
rewards inside the box, but only one
pirate group can acquire them, so do
your best. May the best pirates win!"

"When I say 'Are you ready, class?',

you will respond 'Aye aye, captain!' "Yes, Sir!"

Understood? “'Aye aye, captain!"

Now, class, are you ready?"

the formula of percentile in solving
grouped data is to locate a specific data
point relative to the entire data
distribution.
