1. Determine the LRFD design and ASD allowable block shear strengths of the channel shown. dh = 24 mm. All
steel are A572 Grade 50 steel with Fy = 345 MPa and Fu = 450 MPa.

2. Determine the LRFD design and ASD allowable block shear strengths of the W300 x 60 section shown. dh =
27 mm. Use A36 steel with Fy = 250 MPa and Fu = 400 MPa.

3. The L152 x 102 x 12.7 angle section is connected at its ends with one line of 22-mm diameter bolt as shown.
All steel are A572 Grade 50 steel with Fy = 345 MPa and Fu = 450 MPa. Determine the following:
a. The LRFD block shear rupture strength and the ASD allowable block shear rupture strength of
the member.
b. The LRFD design tensile strength and ASD allowable tensile strength of the member.
4. The 22 mm x 150 mm plate is connected to a 22 mm x 200 mm plate with longitudinal fillet weld as shown.
Determine the LRFD design tensile strength and ASD allowable tensile strength of the plates. Fy = 250 MPa
and Fu = 420 MPa.

5. Determine the LRFD design and ASD allowable block shear strengths of the PL 12 mm x 300 mm shown. dh
= 24 mm. Fy = 250 MPa and Fu = 400 MPa.
