BACKGROUND;

The IUCN Eastern and Southern Africa Regional Office (ESARO) runs a number of Regional and Country based projects. Some
of these projects include provincial and district-based sub offices and Knowledge Hubs. The project teams and the Knowledge
Hubs work together with IUCN Academy and the Provincial Directorates of (1) Agriculture and Artisanal Fisheries, (2)
Environment and Territorial Development and (3) Ministry of Science, Technology, and higher Education. They link to the
central level via the respective Ministries and/or National Funds and Agencies.

To strengthen the project implementation team and the overall integration of projects into the programme and in the Hub, IUCN
Mozambique seeks to recruit a Field Officer, to be based in Vilankulos, and support the activities of the IKI funded Community
based Adaptation project, which will cover the districts of Mabote, Govuro, Inhassoro and Vilankulos. This will be a local
recruitment and the position will be located in the Vilankulos IKI CBA sub-Office, with travel in the intervened districts
requested. This is a full-time position for the 2024-2025 period, with possible extensions within the project period, depending on
good deliverables and evaluation.
The Field Officer will be integrated in the wider project regional team and IUCN Mozambique Country Office. She/he will support
the teams visiting Vilankulos, the meetings to be organized, the collaboration with local implementing partners and the
collection, filling, and processing of information to the project manager.

will cover the districts of Mabote and Zinave National Park, Govuro, Inhassoro and Vilankulos. This will be a local recruitment
and the position will be located in Vilankulos with travel in the intervened districts as requested. This is a full-time position for
the 2024-2027 period.

The Field Officer will be integrated in the wider project regional team and IUCN Mozambique Country Office. She/he will support
the teams visiting Inhambane, the meetings to be organized, the collaboration with local implementing partners and the
collection, filling and processing of information to the project manager. The Project Officer will also assist in the functioning of
the Knowledge Hub and the Communication for Development Team.

JOB DESCRIPTION

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Field Officer will work under the supervision and guidance of the Programme Manager, Mozambique. The major role of the
Field Officer will be to establish strong coordination and linkages amongst all the major stakeholders in the field / district and at
the regional level to ensure that program activities are implemented successfully. The Field Officer will be responsible for
managing the field-level program implementation and for achievement of the field level outputs.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

Set up and manage the project office at field level in accordance with the project work plan and supported by the project team
and Programme manager.
Coordinate the implementation of project activities at field level as per the project document as well as the annual work plan and

budget.
Maintain close coordination with the counterpart authorities, Implementing partners and local actors in planning,
implementation, and monitoring of project activities.
Support the production and sharing of project reports to the MCO.
Establish linkages with other initiatives at the field level that the IPs and donors have in the region.
Ensure a coordinated and collaborative approach at field-level in implementing project interventions.
Assist the Program Manager in organizing various workshops, trainings, and meetings.
Update and report to the Program Manager on a regular basis about the progress and constraints and try to resolve
implementation problems, if any, in consultation with advice/guidance of the Program Manager.
Act as a field level representative of the Program Manager and of IUCN during project meetings and external events.
Supervise the activities of field-based community enterprises including administrative work.
Prepare annual work plan, quarterly progress report, annual progress report and other plans as required and ensure timely
submission to the Program Manager.
Support the development, coordination, and supervision of ocean/ blue venture enterprises to operate as desired.
Support data collection and monitoring of project activities at field level.
Assist the Program Manager on coordination, facilitation, and supervision of subcontracts/consultants in the field.
Represent IUCN at relevant events when requested.
Perform any other duties as may be required.

REQUIREMENTS

• POSITION REQUIREMENTS;

Education;
Degree in environmental sciences, business administration, sustainable development or any other discipline that is relevant
to nature conservation and sustainable use of natural resources.

Work Experience;
3 years of sound working experience in the field of community development, environment, or project management
A good understanding of community development and expertise in self-reliant and participatory development process.
A track record of working with District governments, fisheries groups, natural resources management groups, women, and
youth groups.
Experience in working with climate disaster reduction teams.
Able and willing to travel frequently.
Computer literate and knowledge of GIS systems.

Language Proficiency;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Portuguese.

Willing to travel and work in rural areas frequently within Mozambique.
