Day 1 Efficatious Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus - Month of June
Day 1 Efficatious Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus - Month of June
In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Introduction Prayers
Come Holy Spirit
Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire
of your love. Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created. And You shall
renew the face of the earth.
O, God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit, did instruct the hearts of the
faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit we may be truly wise and ever
enjoy His consolations, Through Christ Our Lord, Amen.
Act of Contrition
O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee, and I detest all my
sins because of Thy just punishments, but most of all because they offend
Thee, my God, Who art all-good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve,
with the help of Thy grace, to sin no more and to avoid the near occasions of
sin. Amen
Prayer to Welcome the Saints
We Welcome all the Saints in heaven among us that they may pray with us
and present our prayers and petitions to the Most Holy Mother Mary, Queen
of Heaven and Earth.

Alacoque, St. John Eudes, St. Gertrude, St. Theresa of the Child Jesus, St.
Francis of Assisi, St. Sharbel, St. Philomena, Holy Martyrs of Uganda, St.
Padre Pio, St. Josemaria, all our Patron Saints and all the Saints to assist

Day 1 Intention - The First Thorn
Pray for Souls with ingratitude and insolence towards God.
The First Office - Worshiper
L: “God is Spirit, and those who worship must worship Him in Spirit and
Truth”. (John 4:24)
L: SPIRITUAL DISPOSITION
L: It is our care as Worshippers to unite our prayers with the prayers
which the Sacred Heart of Jesus offers for us in the Most Blessed
Sacrament. We join our tribute of praise to honour the Eternal
Father. Let us all place ourselves in God’s presence, striving to feel
as a nobody before the Almighty. Let us also strive to acquire a
profound feeling of lowliness before the Divine Majesty of God. At this
moment, let us unite our worship with that of the Most Pure Heart of
Mary and the Choir of Dominations. (Pause)
Reading: John 6: 26-27; 35-44; 47-51; 53-58; 60; 66-70
Reader: A reading from the Gospel according to St John
Jesus, Bread of Life
John 6: 26-27; - Jesus answered them and said, “Amen, amen I say to
you, you are looking for me not because you saw signs but because you
ate the loaves and were filled. Do not work for food that perishes but
for the food that endures for eternal life, which the Son of Man will
give you. For in him the Father, God has set his seal.”
John 6: 35-44; - Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever
comes to me will never hunger, and whoever believes in me will never
thirst. But I told you that although you have seen (me), you do not
believe. Everything that the Father gives me will come to me, and I
will not reject anyone who comes to me, because I came down from
heaven not to do my own will but the will of the one who sent me. And
this is the will of the one who sent me, that I should not lose anything
of what he gave me, but that I should raise it (on) the last day. For
this is the will of my Father, that everyone who sees the Son and
believes in him may have eternal life, and I shall raise him (on the
last day.”

The Jews murmured about him because he said, “am the bread that
came down from heaven” and the said, “Is this not Jesus, the son of
Joseph? Do we not know his father and mother? Then how can he say,
“I have come down from heaven? Jesus answered and said to them,
“Stop murmuring among yourselves. No one can come to me unless
the Father who sent me draw him, and I will raise him on the last
day.
John 6: 47-51; Amen amen I say to you, whoever believes has eternal
life. I am the bread of life. Your ancestors ate the manna in the desert,
but the died; this is the bread that comes down from heaven so that
one may eat it and not die. I am the living bread that came down from
heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever, and the bread that
I will give is my flesh for the life of the world.”
John 6: 53-58; - Jesus said to them, “Amen amen I say to you, unless
you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not
have life within you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has
eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day. For my flesh is true
food, and my blood is true drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks
my blood remains in me and I in him. Just as the living Father sent
me and I have life because of the Father, so also the one who feeds on
me will have life because of me. This is the bread that came down
from heaven. Unlike your ancestors who ate and still died, whoever
eats this bred will live forever.”
John 6: 60; - Then many of his disciples who were listening said, “This
saying is hard; who can accept it?”
John 6: 66-70; - As a result of this, many (of) his disciples returned to
their former way of life and no longer accompanied him. Jesus then
said to the Twelve, “Do you also want to leave?” Simon Peter answered
him, “Master, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.
We have come to believe and are convinced that you are the Holy One
of God.” Jesus answered them, “Did I not choose you twelve? Yet is
not one of you a devil?
Reader: The word of the Lord All: Thanks be to God
L: MOTIVATION (Please sit)
L: As Worshipers, let us consider the Divinity truly present in the Most
Sacred Heart of Jesus. In the Cross, we must see Faith; in the Wound,
Hope; in the Flames, Charity. We must also be able to hear the Sweet
complaint of Jesus, who laments that it is harder to endure the
ingratitude of Men than the Sorrow of His Passion. We must feel the
same sorrow of heart as felt by Our Lord Jesus, who is bitterly grieved

because the persons Consecrated to His service are very cold to this
Devotion. “I long to be honoured in the Most Holy Sacrament, but I
find nobody to satisfy My most ardent desire”.
L: SELF OFFERING BEFORE THE BLESSED SACRAMENT
(please kneel)
All: “My God, Father, Son and the Holy Spirit, I offer You all my prayers,
action and sufferings of this day, in union with the merits of Jesus
Christ, for Your greater glory and in fulfillment of Your Most Holy
Will. I offer them also in honour of Mother Mary Most Holy (Kiss
your Scapular), St Joseph, my Guardian Angel and all my Patron
Saints. I offer them for the remission and atonement of my sins: for
the conversion of sinners and the dying; for the perseverance of the
just, according to the intentions of the Sovereign Pontiff and to gain
indulgences to help the poor souls in Purgatory. I offer them for my
spiritual advantages and that of my brethren and of all those for
whom I am bound to pray; and finally, I offer them in thanksgiving
for all the graces which I have received and shall yet receive through
the merits of Jesus Christ, Your Son. AMEN.

recollection during Holy Mass. We should make the Eucharist
continue to live in our hearts as we adore the Divine Father. As
Worshipers, let us cultivate an awareness of the presence of God,
which is the means of attaining a high degree of perfection.

Prayer to the Sacred Heart
O most holy Heart of Jesus, fountain of every blessing, I adore you, I love
you and will a lively sorrow for my sins. I offer you this poor heart of mine.
Make me humble, patient, pure, and wholly obedient to your will. Grant,
good Jesus, that I may live in you and for you. Protect me in the midst of
danger; comfort me in my afflictions; give me health of body, assistance in
my temporal needs, your blessings on all that I do, and the grace of a holy
death. Within your heart I place my every care. In every need let me come
to you with humble trust saying, Heart of Jesus, help me. Amen.
Day 1 -Sacred Heart Novena
Meditation
The human body is composed of different parts: head, eyes, ears, nose,
mouth, etc. Each part is important. For instance, the ears cannot say it's
important to the hands...the legs cannot say it's important to the eyes, etc.
There is a part of the human body which appears to be superior over the
others. It has a link with the mind & general conduct. When doctors want
to know if a person is dead or not, they check it's beat. This part of the body
is the HEART. Without eyes, you can live; without hands or feet, you can
live. Without the heart, you cannot live.
Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI describes the Sacred Heart of Jesus in these
words: "It is a symbol of the Christian faith that is especially dear, to
ordinary people as well as to mystics & theologians, because it expresses the
'good news' of love in a simple & authentic way, encapsulating the mystery
of Incarnation & Redemption."
Again, "it reminds us that Christ is not God simply appearing as man; He
is truly man, just as He is truly God. From the boundless horizon of His love,
God entered the limitations of history & of the human condition. He took a
body & a heart so that we can contemplate & encounter the infinite in the
finite, the invisible & ineffable Mystery in the human Heart of Jesus of
Nazareth."
Let us Pray for all in distress
