Part: 4007-9803 IDNet+ Loop Expansion Card

Product: 4007ES and 4007ES Hybrid

Cautions and READ AND SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS- Follow the instructions in this installation manual. These
instructions must be followed to avoid damage to this product and associated equipment. Product operation
Warnings and reliability depend upon proper installation.
DO NOT INSTALL ANY SIMPLEX® PRODUCT THAT APPEARS DAMAGED- Upon unpacking
your Simplex product, inspect the contents of the carton for shipping damage. If damage is apparent,
immediately file a claim with the carrier and notify an authorized Simplex product supplier.

ELECTRICAL HAZARD - Disconnect electrical field power when making any internal adjustments or
repairs. All repairs should be performed by a representative or authorized agent of your local Simplex product
supplier.

STATIC HAZARD - Static electricity can damage components. Handle as follows:

• Ground yourself before opening or installing components.
• Prior to installation, keep components wrapped in anti-static material at all times.

Introduction The 4007-9803 IDNet+ Loop Expansion Card allows the operator to add one loop to an existing
IDNet+ circuit. Adding this card has the following advantages:
• Channel isolation (allows the rest of the loops to function normally even if one loop is in
default)
• Dedicated Class A wiring
• 75 additional points per card (the power supply offers 100 points)

Compatibility The 4007-9803 card is compatible with the 4007ES (for addressable notification and initiating
devices) and the 4007ES Hybrid (for non-addressable notification and addressable initiating
devices) panels*.
* From this point on, the 4007ES and the 4007ES Hybrid will be referred to as 4007ES.

Installation

Mounting the The 4007-9803 card is installed on the 4007ES Hybrid NAC power supply or on the 4007ES
4007-9803 Card IDNAC power supply cards.

! WARNING: Make sure that all power is disconnected before starting the installation.

To mount the 4007-9803 card:

1. Locate the connector on the power supply card. The first IDNet+ loop expansion card must be
installed to the left.
2. Remove the screw located in the Gold Plated Mounting hole, identified as “A” for first card
(“B” for the second card) on the power supply and screw the hex post into the same hole.
3. Snap the nylon post into the hole identified as “C” (“D” for second card).
4. Connect the connector on the back of the 4007-9803 card to the connector on the power supply.
5. Secure the card using the removed screw, see Figure 2.

Wiring

Wiring
To connect the 4007-9803 card to devices as Class A circuit:
Note: Shielded wire is not recommended. If shielded wires are present, cut and tape off the shield at each end
in the panel to prevent it from coming in contact with other components. Metallic continuity of the shield
must be maintained and insulated throughout the entire length of the cable.
1. Route wiring from Terminals B+, B-
18 to 12 AWG
on TB1 of the IDNet+ expansion loop
(0.82 to 3.31 mm2)
card to the appropriate inputs on the
first IDNet device.
2. Route wiring from the first device to IDNet
the next as in/out as shown in the Device
diagram. Repeat for each device,
maintaining polarity of wire.
3. Route wiring from the last device to
the 4007ES module Secondary
Terminals (A+, A-) on TB1 of the B+ B- A+ A-
IDNet+ expansion loop card.
4. Ensure that circuit jumpers are

IDNet
configured for Class A operation (refer
to jumper configuration section).

Figure 5. Class A Wiring Instructions

To connect the 4007-9803 card to devices as a Class B circuit:
Note: Shielded wire is not recommended. If shielded wires are present, cut and tape off the shield at each end
(in the panel and at the last device in each run) to prevent it from coming in contact with other
components. Metallic continuity of the shield must be maintained and insulated throughout the entire
length of the cable.
For Class B wiring, both the B+, B- and A+, A- Terminals are available for parallel connections.
A+ is connected to B+, and A- is connected to B- through the jumpers. Each screw can
accommodate two wires, allowing up to four parallel Class B circuits to stem from the card.
