Environmental Analysis
Trends in the Industry
Trend in business is defined as a pattern of gradual change in a process, output, or condition.
The trends in society inevitably affect the business world in numerous ways such as a product's
demand and sales. In the year 2023, here are the current trends in the food industry.

Door to Door Delivery

Technology has made everything more convenient, including purchasing food.
Foodpanda and GrabFood are now two of the major food delivery businesses in the
Philippines. The pandemic caused the popularity of door-to-door food delivery to soar, and it
has continued to do so ever since. With the addition of promotions and packages, it enables
clients to buy food items while lounging in the comfort of their homes.

Plant-Based Alternative
The number of people embracing vegan or plant-based diets has significantly increased
as a result of worries about the health, welfare, and sustainability of animals and the
environment. Food businesses have increased their vegan products in response to this
growing demand. Finding vegan alternatives in eateries, shops, and fast-food franchises has
gotten simpler as veganism becomes more widely recognized and mainstream.

Cashless Payment
Cashless payments, such as credit cards, mobile wallets, and digital apps, offer a
convenient way to make transactions. They make it unnecessary to carry actual cash and
offer a quicker, more efficient payment system.

Sustainability
Consumers are looking for more sustainable food options as a result of living in a world
where the climate is getting worse and growing knowledge of environmental issues including
climate change, deforestation, and habitat destruction. The effect of food production on the
environment can be lessened through sustainable practices.
Dough Delights (D.D.) 9

Personalization
Technology improvements, a focus on health and dietary restrictions, and a desire for
more customized and enjoyable eating experiences have all contributed to the rise of food
personalisation. The growing realization that one-size-fits-all approaches to food no longer
satisfy the various and unique demands of customers is reflected in this trend.

Supply Analysis
The supply analysis entails a thorough investigation of the variables affecting the accessibility
of the delicious delicacies of Dough Delights. The procurement of necessary materials like flour,
sugar, eggs, and flavorings, taking into account the dependability and cost-effectiveness of
suppliers, and maintaining correct inventory management to prevent shortages or waste are key
components of this analysis. It's crucial to assess the machinery and technology needed to produce
donuts, including ovens, mixers, and refrigerators, and to make sure that these are sourced
effectively. Additionally, since labor is so important, it is necessary to assess the local labor markets
for qualified bakers and kitchen workers. Quality control measures and compliance with food safety
regulations are integral to maintain consistent product quality and adhere to legal standards. In
addition, understanding supplier relationships, resilience against supply chain disruptions, and a
commitment to sustainability practices contribute to the overall supply analysis. Lastly, a cost
analysis of the entire supply chain, coupled with scalability plans, ensures Dough Delights operates
efficiently and can adapt to varying levels of demand while managing costs effectively.

Market Forecast
Following the pandemic, the food service industry is expanding for a number of important
causes. First, there is pent-up demand as individuals want to go out to eat again and engage in
social activities. Second, their attractiveness has grown as a result of embracing hybrid models that
combine in-person and takeout/delivery alternatives. Third, eating out has become more practical
thanks to the integration of technology and contactless solutions. Finally, the market has expanded
as a result of government assistance and changing consumer preferences that favor delivery and
takeout.

Size of the Business

Dough Delights is an ordinary small business that has ten (10) employees. A small
business with ten employees is likely to have a more structured and diversified workforce
compared to a microbusiness. With this employee count, our business can assign more
specialized roles and responsibilities, potentially leading to increased efficiency and
productivity. It may also have a greater capacity to serve a broader customer base or offer a
wider range of products or services. However, while it is larger than a microbusiness, it may still
maintain a relatively close-knit and personalized approach to customer service and operations.
If we decide to establish a larger enterprise, we will need more employees because handling
and managing a large business would need a lot of manpower. It can also expand our operations
globally, access larger customer bases, diverse markets, and international opportunities, which
can lead to increased revenue and profit potential.

Factors that Determine the Size of the Business:

a. Size of capital
- Capital is important for businesses as it provides the financial resources necessary for
operations, growth, and investment in assets and technologies. It plays a significant
role in
Dough Delights (D.D.) 19

determining a business's size and growth potential. The capital that will be provided by the owner of
the business is 18,000.00 pesos and this amount is good for 1-2 months. Since the capital’s amount is
less than 20,000.00, it is considered a small business.
b. Level of technology
- The type of technology used depends on the size of the business, budget, and goals. Since our
business is a small enterprise, we will use a mini donut maker for the production of our goods and we
will utilize an ordinary register cash or money box to keep track of our profit.
c. Number of employees
- The number of employees generally reflects the scale and scope of a business. Dough Delights
does not necessarily need a lot of employees since the owner and the nine (9) employees will be
tasked to do the work, managing the customer’s orders, making mini donuts, and other
responsibilities.
d. Raw materials used
- In a mini donut business, the qualities of raw materials are crucial because they directly impact the
taste, texture, appearance, and overall quality of the final product. While maintaining quality is
essential, our raw materials are cost-effective to ensure the business's profitability. Careful selection
and attention can help ensure that the donuts produced are delicious, safe, and appealing to
customers.
e. Volume of sales
- The physical location of the business plays a significant role in determining sales volume. A
business situated in a high-traffic area or near popular tourist destinations may have a higher sales
volume than one in a less visible location. However, effective marketing efforts are still important to
attract more customers and boost sales. The business should also consider the competitive pricing
that provides value for customers while still allowing for profitability is crucial. Lastly, economic factors,
such as the overall health of the economy and local economic conditions, can influence consumer
spending and, consequently, sales volume.
d. Legal form of ownership
- Choosing the right legal form of ownership for a small business depends on factors such as the
number of owners, the level of personal liability protection desired, taxation preferences, management
structure, and long-term goals. Dough Delights practices the ownership form of sole proprietorship in
which a single individual (the owner) owns and operates the business.
Dough Delights (D.D.) 20

Personnel Requirement
One of the most essential factors in starting a business is your employees. Here are the
personnel requirements of Dough Delights:
Must be at least 18 years old
Senior High School Diploma/Certificate of Completion
Birth Certificate
NBI Clearance
Health Certificate
Excellent Interpersonal Skills (Communication Skills, Conflict Resolution Skils, Active
Listener, and Cooperative)
Dough Delights (D.D.) 21

Organizational Plan
Form of the Business Organization
The business, "Dough Delights" would be in the form of a Sole Proprietorship.
Our business will be owned by one person, hence, the choice of sole proprietorship. This is aligned
with our business' capital requirement, liability of the owner, management and supervisory skills, tax
implications, government intervention, nature of the business, and external financing requirements.
The form of the business operation as sole proprietorship is advantageous since Dough
Delights is a small business. Furthermore, in sole proprietorship, profits are taxed only once, is the
least costly among the forms of ownership, and the owner has complete control over the decisions
made, the company, and the profit gained.

Liability of the Owner/Owners

The owner of the firm "Dough Delights" possesses unlimited liability for all debts,
shortcomings, and liabilities of the business. This implies that the owner's personal assets, such as
his savings, homes, and investments, may be at risk to pay for these liabilities if the business is
unable to meet its financial responsibilities. The owner must be conscious, aware, and meticulous to
handle this potential risk.

Organizational Structures (Organizational Chart)

An organizational structure serves as our framework for planning and monitoring the
activities outside and inside of our business. It defines who does what, reducing confusion and
duplication of efforts, and everyone knows what is expected of them. This will help us assign our
designated roles and responsibilities in order to make efficient and effective decisions, establish
good communication, and lessen the chance of having conflicts. Also, this will provide us a
foundational framework that enhances efficiency and effectiveness within the business, ultimately
contributing to its success, stability, and sustainability.
Dough Delights (D.D.) 22

Our business will be headed by our CEO, Nel Angelo Hablado, Keisha Kloebelle Llorico as
the head of the Financial Management, Fran Chezka Delos Santos as the head of the Sales and
Marketing Management, Mireal Hannah Camacho, as the head of the Planning Operation
Management, Daniel Duane Decena as the head of the Staffing and Management, and Neil
Marterior as the head of the Customer Service Management.

Roles and Responsibilities

The term "role" refers to the function or position that a person plays in a particular group.
In entrepreneurship, it typically refers to the specific responsibilities, functions, and activities that an
entrepreneur or team members undertake within a business. On the other hand, responsibilities refer
to the specific tasks, duties, and obligations that individuals or teams are accountable for in order to
achieve the company's goals and objectives.

Based on our research, every small business owner is responsible for five main areas:
1. Staffing and Management
2. Financial Management
3. Planning Operation Management
4. Sales and Marketing Management
5. Customer Service Management
Dough Delights (D.D.) 23

Dough Delights is a small business with ten (10) employees. The owner has assigned the
roles of every employee and they are tasked to do their responsibilities for the five main areas
of the business. The owner assigned them based on their experience, skills, interests, and
competencies. By carefully considering these factors, our team can create a more effective and
harmonious work environment, leading to improved employee satisfaction and overall
organizational success.

Operation Plan
Evaluation of Suppliers
Evaluating suppliers in a business is a multifaceted process with profound implications for a
company's success. It is not merely a routine procedure but a strategic practice that ensures quality,
cost-efficiency, and risk mitigation.
Dough Delights will choose its suppliers according to the quality of ingredients they offer,
reliability and consistency of the suppliers, location, the cost of ingredients, work ethics, and their
communication skills to ensure a successful and delicious product. Suppliers must consistently
deliver products or services that meet the company's standard and the pricing must align with the
budget and market rates. Reliability is of greatest importance, with on-time deliveries being a must.
Their location must be near the place of Dough Delights for easier transportation of raw materials.
The company will evaluate their communication skills and ability to manage risks to maintain efficient
and sustainable supply chains.
The owner and co-owners of Dough Delights will personally test the products that the suppliers
offer. For an effective and proactive quality control of ingredients, we will conduct audits, inspections,
and surveys for compliance with the established standards of the company. We guarantee that our
products will provide satisfaction and meet the needs of our customers.

Purchase Procedures
A successful purchasing process is vital for business efficiency and cost-effectiveness. To
achieve this, we will make a clear plan by outlining what, when, and how to buy our raw materials.
We will choose reliable suppliers and negotiate fair prices, but without sacrificing the quality of the
products. The company will issue purchase orders and we will keep an eye on inventory to avoid
ingredient shortages. The CEO, Nel Angelo V. Hablado, will personally conduct quality checks to
ensure that the purchased ingredients meet the company's standards. The materials received
should correspond to the materials ordered. Upon checking that everything is in order and no issues
are found, we will have the supplier sign and issue a receipt indicating that the materials have been
delivered. The receipts will be kept to provide documented evidence of purchases made by the
company and they must be signed by authorized personnel for the reports to be considered valid.
Dough Delights (D.D.) 34

Here are examples of our receipt and purchase requisition form:

Dough Delights (D.D.) 35

The following are the steps of the purchasing process of raw materials for "Dough Delights".

1. Identify the needed tools and ingredients

The members of the company will determine the necessary tools and ingredients to make
mini donuts. It will be dependent on the chosen recipe and it can vary according to the flavors of
our mini donuts as they are the primary basis for choosing ingredients.

2. Specify the requirement

Choosing the right tools and ingredients for making mini donuts requires attention to detail.
Here are the set of requirements needed for both:
Ingredients:
a. Freshness: The ingredients such as pancake mix, eggs, and milk should be new for
best results.
b. Quality: Selected ingredients should be of high quality and meet the set standards.
c. Flavor: Ingredients like vanilla extract will add flavor to our mini donuts and make it
even more delicious.
d. Allergen Considerations: Potential allergens in ingredients will be labeled for the
customer's safety.
e. Variety: We will have a range of toppings and flavors available such as chocolate,
cookies and cream, sprinkles, and peanut butter with nuts.

Tools:
a. Durability: Mixing bowls and cutting tools should withstand regular use.
b. Accuracy: Measuring cups and measuring spoons will be used for accurate ingredient
measurements
c. Cleanliness: All tools and equipment must be cleaned thoroughly to maintain food
safety standards
d. Efficiency: Mini donut makers will make the production process more efficient,
especially during rush hours.
e. Maintenance: Tools must be regularly maintained and stored properly to prolong their
lifespan

3. Find and choose a supplier

We will find potential suppliers that meet the company's standards through researching
online. They should provide the specific products needed and adhere to our guidelines for a
smooth transaction.
Dough Delights (D.D.) 36

4. Contract negotiation
The chosen supplier will be presented with a contract from our team. It will contain the terms and
conditions to be read before signing to make sure that a mutual agreement has been established
and to avoid future conflicts.

5. Get order approval

This process typically involves verifying the order details, including quantity, pricing, and working
with the upper management, before starting the transaction. It helps maintain cost control, prevent
unnecessary spending, and ensures that the company's procurement aligns with its objectives.

6. Place the order

If both sides agree to the transaction, the company will formally place the order. Both sides will
decide on the specific details such as price, delivery dates, fees, and installations. Everything will be
documented and representatives from both organizations will sign it. A copy of this agreement will be
kept for future reference.

7. Receive and approve the order

Upon receiving an order, our personnel will thoroughly inspect the contents to ensure they
match the company's request and meet quality standards. Once the order is confirmed to be
accurate and in good condition, it can be approved.

8. Accounting records

keep track of all transactions made. It will serve as a reference for assessing the overall
performance and stability of the company.
Dough Delights (D.D.) 37

Storage and Inventory Control

Our ingredients that are needed in making mini doughnuts will be stored in freezers and
storage boxes in one of our co-owner’s houses near the store to ensure the safety and accessibility
of our ingredients. To monitor our inventory, we will have a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet where
products will be tallied. It will contain a list of each product we used to create the mini doughnuts,
and with this, we can keep up with how many products we used to make batches of mini doughnut
batter and the toppings we added. Another set of printed hard copies will be put in the said store to
double-check the ingredients brought from our co-owner’s house to ensure transparency. With this,
we can determine our sales and keep orders in our inventory for us to determine our profit and
secure our sales during the time we operate our store. We will also use the "first in, first out" policy
for our ingredients to save our profit where the ingredients may be expired or are close to spoilage. If
our ingredients are already expired or spoiled, we will dump them in a certain place and turn them
into compost or fertilizer so that they will still be useful and prevent our ingredients from being
wasted.

Sales Procedure
Audit product knowledge. This will be a procedure that will help the business become
completely acquainted with the mini donut products, its essential components, and the available
flavors. This will help identify the ingredients, the manufacturing procedure, and any unique
packaging or presentation needs. Additionally, this will help the business become acquainted with
the various costs and offers.
Choose a target audience. This will help discover the target clients and their demands. In this
business, the students, family men, children, and food enthusiasts are the target audience.
Plan sales strategy. This will aid in determining the way the mini donuts will be sold, whether
through pre-orders, online sales, market stalls, or direct to customers at special events.
Draft a sales pitch. This will focus on developing a persuasive and informative sales pitch that
showcases the benefits of the mini donuts. It will highlight the unique features, such as the
homemade taste, its size, its convenience, and the variety of flavor options available.
Dough Delights (D.D.) 38

Present the product. This will focus on the creation of samples of the mini donuts for potential
buyers to try. This will offer a trial run to allow customers to taste the product and see if it satisfies
their taste.
Conduct follow-up. Once the sales are coming in, this step will ensure the satisfaction of the
customers will be met by gathering feedback. This feedback will then improve the product and sales
process.

Here is the notable aspect that takes our donut shop marketing to another level: Visual
content is undoubtedly a prominent source for attracting more audiences to social advertising
accounts. Facebook and TikTok play a remarkable role in monetizing our donut shop offerings.
Recording mouthwatering, appetizing videos or designing appetizing images to upload on social
accounts can surprisingly rank up the audience. It will prove worthwhile to grab the audience with
good comments, extra likes, and more shares of our content.
One more positive aspect of sharing appetizing content is that it allows us to make a

good and high-quality mini donuts. For our packaging, we will be using a biodegradable rectangular
kraft box with a transparent lid. This packaging is suitable for our product since it can hold exactly 6
donuts.
The box provides protection for the mini donuts, keeping them fresh and preventing damage
during transport. The transparent lid allows customers to see the delicious mini donuts inside,
enticing them with a visual display of the product. Also, the lid adds an extra layer of hygiene by
preventing direct contact with the donuts while still showcasing them.
In addition to that, using this kind of packaging makes it easier to store and transport multiple boxes
of mini donuts without the risk of spillage or mess. Nonetheless, customers may choose to reuse the
box for storage or other purposes, increasing the box's utility.

ages because of their affordability, wide appeal, and range of flavors. Our business’s position in the
market is focused on offering low-priced donuts, but with a commitment to providing high-quality
products. This means that our company strives to differentiate itself from other low-priced
competitors by offering better-quality donuts.
