Our Times is a 2015 ‧ Romance/Comedy film from China while Your Lie in April is a 2016 ‧
Romance/Music film from Japan. These two films revolve around high school students who are in search
for what they want in the future. However, certain circumstances made these stories a lot more
inexplicable to the viewers. In fact, both of these films are my favourites, as student, I can relate. They
tackle some realities of life especially the challenges of being a student, being a friend, a family member,
and as a lover. These films are also top-tiers as well since they were able to leave a mark to anyone who
was able to watch it. Simple plots, yet contain deep messages.

However, these 2, films have also their own differences. In Our times, the boy was aggressive yet unable
to convey his real feelings. While in You life in April, the girl was aggressive yet dishonest about her
feelings. Indeed, these characters are liars. One of the major difference also is the ending part. Our
times had a happy ending while the other did not.

A feeling of mixed emotions burst into me while watching these films. However, no matter what ending
they have, it doesn't matter to me as these both pinched my heart. These are the kind of films that I can
watch for a hundred times and still got excited about the flow of the story.
