RESOLUTION #0001

CLOSE-SCHOOL LUNCH POLICY:

PREVENTING THE GRADE-11 ACACIA STUDENTS TO
CONTRAVENT

I. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

Students at Kiling National High School are not permitted to leave during
lunch, according to school policy. Since they chose to enroll in the school, all
students are obligated to adhere to the rules. This policy has been put in place
to ensure the safety and well-being of all students on campus. With a large
student population, it can be difficult for school staff to monitor all students
leaving and returning during lunchtime. Additionally, there have been instances
in the past where students have left campus and engaged in risky behavior or
encountered dangerous situations. By keeping students on campus during lunch,
the school is able to provide a secure environment for all students. However,
some students have expressed frustration with this policy, citing the desire for
more freedom and autonomy during their lunch break. They argue that they are
responsible enough to make good decisions and should be trusted to leave
campus if they choose to do so. Others point out that lunchtime is an
opportunity for socialization and exploration beyond the confines of the school
grounds. Despite these concerns, the school administration has maintained its
stance on the no-lunch-leaving policy. They argue that it is in the best interest of
all students and that any changes would require a brief interrogation.

Furthermore, there is no guarantee that the food available to students

outside of the school premises is hygienic and clean. Allowing students to leave
the school premises during breaks may have an impact on their behavior.
Students are tempted to skip their classes because of the possibility of abusing
the freedom they acquire when there is an open school policy. Close school
policy is quite beneficial in both parties, the students and the school. On the other
hand, open school policy is not quite safe because students are more prone to
accidents that lies outside school property. There are also unforeseen incidents
that can occur outside the school vicinity. It is made very clear that this rule
may only be flouted in an emergency.

It is very important to address and resolve this issue to prevent the

students from going home especially those who are abusing this school policy.
In fact, most of the students of Grade - 11 Acacia are disobeying this rule as
there are certain reasons which tempts them to go outside during lunch. Some
reasons include forgetting their lunch at home and others just want to go home
because they want to. It's important for schools to address this issue and provide
solutions to encourage students to stay on campus during lunchtime. By
addressing this issue and providing solutions, schools can improve student
attendance and create a more positive learning environment for all students.

Even though it is their responsibility as students, a number of students in

Grade 11-Acacia are disobeying and abusing this rule. They have already
returned home for lunch more than once. Their class adviser signs a letter
allowing them to leave after they've written one, but most of them don't return at
1:00 PM to attend their remaining classes. Since the school principal frequently
condemns her students for this inappropriate behavior, this issue impacts both
the attendance of Grade 11 Acacia's classes as well as the relationship between
the students and their class adviser.

II. SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM

After conducting a forum, the Grade 11 Acacia students realized that this is
actually not a difficult problem to solve. The majority of the class agreed that no
one is allowed to go home during lunch unless for emergency purposes.
Moreover, the Grade 11-Acacia students have to share their lunch or baon with
their classmates who did not bring their own lunch. There is also an agreement
for an "Acacia Pantry," where biscuits, coffee, bread, noddles, and other snacks
will be displayed and given for free to those students who forgot to bring their
lunch. The funds for this pantry will come from the sinking fund of the class.

As mentioned above, only those students who are going through emergency
procedures are allowed to go home. Any violation of this rule, such as
pretending to have a stomachache or headache just to go home during lunch,
will face consequences. It's either cleaning the classroom for 30 minutes or
watering the plant for a whole week during the morning before classes started
and every afternoon after the classes ended. This rule is in place to discourage
students from skipping classes or leaving school early without a valid reason.
It's important for students to attend all their classes to ensure they don't miss out
on important lessons and discussions. Moreover, it's crucial for them to develop
a sense of responsibility and discipline, which will serve them well in their
future endeavors. By enforcing this rule, the school is also promoting a culture
of respect and accountability among its students. Therefore, it's imperative that
all students abide by this rule and avoid any attempts to circumvent it.
Ultimately, this will benefit not only the individual student but also the entire
school community as a whole.
