TRỌNG ÂM CỦA TỪ CÓ 2 ÂM TIẾT:

- Đa số DANH TỪ, TÍNH TỪ có 2 âm tiết thì trọng âm rơi vào âm tiết thứ 1.
Ex: STUdent,...
- Đa số ĐỘNG TỪ có 2 âm tiết thì trọng âm rơi vào âm tiết thứ 2.
Ex: enJOY, suGGEST,...
- NOTE:
+ khi âm tiết đầu là âm /ə/ thì âm tiết sẽ rơi vào âm thứ 2 ( âm này ko có
trọng âm). Ex: a`lone, ma`chine...
+ Khi âm tiết là các nguyên âm đôi “ee, oo, ier, ea...” thì trọng âm rơi vào
CHÍNH NÓ. Ex: ba`lloon, bam`boo...
+ Một số động từ ngoại lệ là có âm tiết số 2 đọc là “ er”, “en”, “ow”, “y”,
“i” thì trọng âm rơi vào âm tiết thứ 1. Ex: ‘Borrow, ‘listen, ‘open,....

TRỌNG ÂM CỦA TỪ CÓ 3 ÂM TIẾT:

- Quy tắc chung như trọng âm của từ có 2 âm tiết:
- NOTE:
+ Trọng âm rơi vào trước các âm tiết “ion” (tion, sion). Ngoại lệ: Telivision
(âm 1).

+ Trọng âm rơi vào âm trước ....logy/graphy:
Ex: bi`ology; tech`nology, ge`ography.
+ Trọng âm rơi vào âm trước ....ience/ient/iency:
Ex: `efficient, ex`perience.
+ Trọng âm rơi vào âm trước ....ic/ical/ial:
Ex: photo`genic, scien`tific
+ trọng âm rơi vào âm trước....ious/eous/ian/iar:
Ex: am`bitious; mu`sician.
+ Đối với các từ có tận cùng “ate”, “fy”, “ity”, “ize” trọng âm rơi vào âm
tiết cách nó 1 âm.
Ex: `motivate, com`municate.
