DISCUSSION
 Research Problems. It is a set of questions that a researcher based on the
variables used for the study. There is a need of precaution in enumerating the
research problems since majority of the parts of research relies on the problems.
other term for research problems are “Statement of the Problem (SOP)” or
“Research Questions”
How to enumerate the research problems:
This will be the template for enumerating or stating the research problems.
Please observe how the problem statement or questions formulated.
o What is the level/extent of (IV) among (TARGET PARTICIPANTS)?
o What is the level/extent of (DV) among (TARGET PARTICIPANTS)?
o Is there a significant (Int) of (IV) on the (DV) among (TARGET
PARTICIPANTS)?
o Is there a significant difference of the (IV) when the data compared based
on (TARGET PARTICIPANTS)’ (MD)?

Example:
If the research title is “The Effect of Involvement in Online Games on the
Academic Performance among Students of Crisostomo Ibarra National High School”
Then the variables are…
Independent Variable (IV): Involvement in Online Games
Dependent Variable (DV): Students’ Academic Performance
Intervening Variable (Int): Effect
Moderating Variable (MD): Students’ Gender
Then the research problems will be look like this:
 What is the extent of involvement in online games among students?
 What is the level of academic performance among students?
 Is there a significant effect of involvement in online games on the
academic performance among the students?
 Is there a significant difference of the involvement in online games
when the data compared based on the students’ gender?
ACTIVITY 2: RESEARCH PROBLEMS
Directions: Based on the variables identified and research title formulated from
ACTIVITY 1, the students are going to state the research problems. be certain that the
stated problems match to the identified variables from ACTIVITY 1.
