Forests are 1 among many natural wonders what we must preserve to ensure people and
nature thrive. In the past we have destroyed them without hesitation yet forests have an
ability to recover. Forests cover nearly a third of all land on Earth, providing vital organic
infrastructure for some of the planet's densest, most diverse collections of life. They support
countless species, including our own, yet we often seem oblivious of that. We, now clear
millions of acres from natural forests every year, letting deforestation threaten some of
Earth's most valuable ecosystems, tend to take forests for granted, underestimating how
indispensable they still are for everyone on the planet.

Boreal forests, found farthest north, experience long, cold winters with short growing
seasons. The video talks about a Siberian Tiger in the boreal forest, an impoverished land
where food of any kind is scarce. Pine nuts provide vital energy during these winter months
to all animals like wild boar who themselves are a food to the tiger. Temperate forests,
located in the mid-latitudes, have four distinct seasons. Tropical forests, found along the
equator, experience high temperatures, long growing seasons, and harbor incredible amounts
of biodiversity.

The trees and their inhabitants are interdependent and is apparent nowhere else but in India’s
Western Ghats. The birds in the forests feed on different fruits from the forests and
unknowingly distribute seeds all over the forest through their droppings; also through their
wings. Not always the relationship between the animals and tress in the forest is beneficial
like the one in Miombo Forest.

Forests support humans on local and regional scales by providing ecosystem services like
pollination, climate regulation, and soil conservation. Despite the value of intact forests for
human well-being, forests around the world are threatened by human activities.

Water is taken from the earth by trees and released into the atmosphere, As a result, massive
forests can not only create their own microclimates, but they can also influence atmospheric
conditions that cause rain. If the forest is vast enough, it can have a huge impact on weather
patterns over thousands of miles. Climate change impacts are also mitigated by standing
forests. They absorb CO2, manage water flows, and safeguard coastal towns from extreme
weather and rising sea levels. They also provide paths for migrating plant and animal species

Human activities such as logging, land clearing for agriculture, and poaching are a threat to
the future of forests.
We need to conserve our forests for reasons such they ensures a very rich biodiversity on
earth. Loss of biodiversity leads to loss of ecological imbalance. They provide raw materials
for industries. They provide shelter for animal habitat. While deforestation is unavoidable, it
can be managed. Creating fire lanes, spraying fire retardants, cleaning dry leaves and trees,
and so on could be used as protection against forest fire. Afforestation should be practiced to
bring our ecosystem back into balance in order to reduce the effects of deforestation and
various forms of pollution.

If we choose to give forests time and space they could reclothe the Earth. A future with more
forests is key to the resilience of our planet.
Conservation of forest is a continual process that requires well-designed strategies and
approaches that fulfil the desired goal, with a scope to include new ideas within a given
framework.
