About This Pattern

For this little dog I managed to make such a lovely sketch, me who is not able to draw. My first crochet
version was nothing closer to the cuteness it was supposed to be, off I restarted again and finally it turned
out almost same as the sketch.
As I remade Enrico I realized that it would have been better to make him seamless for the tiny pieces of his
body. At the end I came up with a super-fast pattern that requires little embroidery and sewing in the end.

Enrico is worked as one piece, starting with the body up to the head. As you crochet the body and the
head you will add the legs, the tail, the arms and the ears.
I recommend to read through the entire pattern before actually start working on it to ensure you are clear
about the overall instructions.

Before starting have a look at the following page where I explain how to read the pattern, in particular the
instructions on how to work in rounds/rows and the abbreviations used in the pattern.

I have tried my best to write clear instructions to guide you step by step during the execution of the
pattern, however if anything is confusing, please do not hesitate to e-mail me at
marysamiland@gmail.com. It would be my pleasure to assist you!
English is not my native language so should you find the wording to be wrong, simply smile! But if you
have the time and could let me know I would greatly appreciate it.

Now it is time for you to get started … happy amiguruming!

How to Read the Pattern

This pattern uses American crochet terminology.

Consider the following directions when you are making your amigurumi from this pattern:
- working in the round (abbreviation: Rnd): crochet in a continuous spiral, making note of where the
rounds begin and end by marking the end of a round with a stitch marker. Do not join rounds unless
otherwise instructed.
- working in rows (abbreviation: Row): work in rows, turning the work at the end. Each row ends with a
chain which is not counted in the number of stitches on the hook, that is the number in parentheses at the
end of the row instruction in the pattern. Note that if the chain is not needed it is not listed at the end of
the row in the pattern instructions.
When counts of round and row are sequential, it means that the piece is worked as a continuation from
one to the other without cutting the yarn. For example, “Row 1, Row 2, Rnd 3, Rnd 4” means start the
piece working in rows and continue to work in the round after Row 2.

The Magic Ring method (or Adjustable Ring) is used to start crocheting in the round, feel free to replace it
with “Chain 2” method if you wish.

This pattern uses single crochet invisible decrease abbreviated as dec. Find instructions in “Basic Stitches”
in the appendix. If you do not feel comfortable with this method feel free to make the traditional
decrease.

Find instructions for crochet stitches used in this pattern and conversion charts in the appendix at the end
of the document.

Assembly Enrico Dog

Embroider the features of the face. Starting with a pink yarn add a
1 2
small line under each eye to make the cheeks (photo 1).
If you wish, embroider the nose with brown yarn at the same level of
the eyes in the center. Make an horizontal line 1-2 sts wide and go
over it a few times, and then make a short vertical line downwards
3
starting form the bottom center of the nose (photo 2).
4
Place the mouth in the center between the two eyes if you have
opted not to have the nose otherwise just below it.
For embroidering the mouth use two strands of back yarn and add a
stright line 2 sts wide (photo 3) and then add a small stich a round
below in the middle to form the smile (photo 4).
Next add the collar fastening it with a knot on the back and weave in the ends. Finally sew on the tag in
the front center.
