Regulatory Authority approval is required, it should be obtained by the
Operator.

In case of any conflict between this FOL and any mandatory

requirements issued by the Local Regulatory Authority, including but
not limited to Airworthiness Directives, the Local Regulatory Authority
document/orientation shall prevail.

SUBJECT: EICAS MESSAGE SPDBRK FAIL IN AOM, QRH

AND DDPM

REASON: To inform operators about the status of the

Operational Manuals regarding SPDBRK FAIL
EICAS message, its respective procedure and
dispatch condition.

DESCRIPTION:
Up to LOAD 25.6 the SPOILER FAULT EICAS caution message
indicates the failure of one or more panels of the multifunctional
spoilers. Such message is displayed with any of the following functions
failure:
- Speed brake
- Ground spoiler
- Roll spoiler.
LOAD 25.7 and LOAD 27.1 introduced a new SPDBRK FAIL EICAS
advisory message. This message is displayed only when speed brake
function is lost. For those Primus EPIC Load versions, the
SPOILER FAULT EICAS caution message indicates a failure in the
ground spoiler or the roll spoiler functions.
There is no specific procedure associated to the SPDBRK FAIL
message. Therefore SPDBRK FAIL is a Crew Awareness message, as
defined in the introduction to the Emergency and Abnormal
procedures.

OPERATING INFORMATION:

The SPDBRK FAIL message information are missing from current

Operational Manuals (AOM, QRH, DDPM).
Therefore, a revision to include the SPDBRK FAIL message and the
respective procedure (Crew Awareness) is necessary in the AOM and
QRH:
- AOM 4-03-08.

- QRH EAP - INDEX BY EICAS MESSAGE.

This information is expected to be published at the 2018 scheduled

revision.
A revision to include the SPDBRK FAIL message and the respective
"NO DISPATCH" condition is necessary in the DDPM:
- DDPM Section 2 - EICAS message list.

This information is expected to be published at the next DDPM

revision.
