Vertical black streaks on the print-out, due to a damaged drum

Phenomenon Vertical black streaks may appear on the print-out.

Cause The drum unit may become scratched due to increased pressure by the separator in the cleaning
unit, when transfer failure occurs at the transfer/separation section or when a paper jam occurs at
the separator in the cleaning unit. (depending on what type of paper is used.)

Solution 1. To adjust the position of the separator mounting plate (lower seal cleaning) in order to prevent
pressure on the same spot at the drum, the following changes have been made:

• The size, position and shape of the holes to fix the separator mounting plate to the cleaning
unit have been changed.
• Due to the above mentioned change, the fitting of the cleaning unit has been changed from
press-fit to screw type.
• A scale gradation has been added to the edge of the separator mounting plate beside the
fixing hole.

2. Due to the above mentioned changes, a leaflet has been added to the PM/MK kit and the
cleaning unit, to advise that the position of the separator mounting plate should be changed
when performing maintenance.
3. To make the parts of the KM-6030/8030 common with the TASKalfa620/820, the parts cleaning
assy 302FB93071 has been changed to parts cleaning assy 302K93162.

Field measure When the above mentioned phenomenon occurs, please replace the separator mounting plate
with the latest type and adjust the position with 1 scale gradation when performing maintenance.

Please note the following:

The default position of the scale gradation is 3 (from the factory)
The old type of the separator mounting plate is fixed at the same position as scale gradation 2 of
the new type of the separator mounting plate.
