Purpose of Education in society

Main purpose of education is to educate individuals within


the society, to prepare and qualify them for work in economy
as well as to integrate people into society and teach them
values and morals of society. Role of education is means of
socializing individulas and to keep society smoothing and
remain stable.

The functionalist theory focuses on the ways that universal


education serves the needs of society. Functionalists first see
education in its manifest role: conveying basic knowledge and skills
to the next generation. Durkheim (the founder of functionalist
theory) identified the latent role of education as one of socializing
people into society's mainstream. This “moral education,” as he
