THEORETICAL FOUNDATION IN NURSING

NURSING THEORY APPLICATION

1) Watson's Philosophy of Science and Caring

— Life experiences on dealing with people socially is important. One's childhood is also
an important factor in maturing mentally either through slow or fast learning.
— When in hard or sad situations, Faith and hope is one of the ways to make the person
stay positive-minded. It helps the person recover much faster and helps connect to the
divine creator.
— Having genuine emotions when connecting to the person you nurse is also crucial.
But we also need to control and limit those emotions as it may affect our professional
working.
— In nursing, we should show empathy, and listen to their thoughts to make them not
anxious. Positive thoughts may help in maintaining their mental health.
— In processes and procedures, it's fine to use systematic ways, but not all the time. It
should be a series of feelings and thoughts.

2) Eriksson's Theory of Caritative Caring

— The primary work of a nurse is to care for their patients. It is a must to help them care
for their body, and help them have a stable soul and spirit, respecting their religious
beliefs as long as it doesn't hurt other people and doesn't make the environment worse.
— Avoidance of prejudice and other factors that affect the well being of a patient is
required.

3) Benner's Stages of Clinical Competence

— We are not born all knowing, and also the nurses as well, so we should let ourselves
accept our mistakes and failures as it helps us grow as a person.
— Let experiences be the teacher to you and all aspiring nurses can be fluid, flexible,
highly proficient, no longer relies on principle, and decisive on clinical situations.
4) Orem's Self-Care Deficit Theory
— In order to nurse properly, I should be properly hygienic and dress properly.
Self-reliance, independence, and responsibility to one self is the one that I should
prioritize in order to not make the person more sick.
— I should also manage and maintain my diet, mobility, and secretion to make my work
more clean and productive.

5) Roy's Adaptation Model

— Promotion and Maintenance of Physiological Integrity is the rights of every person
that can't help themselves on daily routines. So I should help them do those jobs.
— Basic underlying needs, physical and personal self are needed to have a proper
mental stability. One job that I will do is I will help them maintain their physical
appearance by managing their bath.
— As a nurse and as a human, we should be properly exercising our role to our
environment and to the relationships we value, so I will let them do their parts, but with
limitations that can affect their physical and physiological well-being negatively.
— Environment is really crucial in building, regulating, and help recovering the patients
under sick circumstances, so I will properly change their beddings and settings every
afterwhile.
