Scenario

6th September 2021,
09:30 Good morning.
As reuse and recycling centre manager and, in particular, in my role as health and safety officer,
I believe the existing health and safety policy, signed by a previous manager who retired in 2015,
will need to be updated.
Health and safety legislation mandates that an organisation must write, implement, communicate
and review the health and safety policy. In addition, health and safety standards or guidance are
often rewritten and replaced.
New managers are promoted while others get transferred to other recycling centers. This
naturally results in recruitment of managers and workers who have ideas about different
hours and days of working to account for public demand.
We have taken delivery of brand-new skip-moving vehicles that operate around the skips. While
these new vehicles are welcome, challenging recycling targets mean that the workforce have
changed working practices and processes to meet these targets.
When I speak to the workers, they often complain that many procedures, outlined in the policy,
do not reflect what actually happens these days.
In addition to all this the fact that we have previously been served an enforcement order was a
reminder that administrative and practical things need addressing.

Based on the email sent by the manager in the scenario, what is likely to have prompted the
policy review?
 The current health & safety policy was signed by the previous manager who was retired in
back 2015 so at first priority the policy should must be changed and reviewed because it is
not a dead policy, it should must be reviewed annually.
 The organization should must write their legislation mandate for health &safety policy.
 After written their mandate, now they must implement the mandate of health & safety
policy.
 The organization would must communicate and review their legislation mandate of the
health and safety policy.
 The organization would now rewrite the health and safety standards and then replace these
standards from the previous standards.
 The organization would revise their policies for the managers who are posted to the higher
position because there is the changing in the activities.
 The organization would must update their policies for those managers who gets
transferred to other recycling plants.
 The organization would implement their new polices of health and safety for those
managers who are newly recruited
 The organization should implement their new polices of health and safety for those
workers who are newly recruited.
 The organization should implement their new polices of health and safety related to
working hours and days for their new managers and workers.
 The organization should implement their new polices related to health and safety for the
newly purchased moving vehicles because this is a technological change.
 The organization would face challenges because of this technological advancement
therefore such polices are made that can overcome these challenges
 The organization should implement those polices related to the new working practices for
their workers so they can easily achieve their given target and can’t face difficulties.
 The new policies that the organization made would must be accurate and clear from the
outlined procedures and it should be accurate according to work because the workers
complained to these issues.
