Step by step to make the appointment

at the Federal Police

DUE TO CHANGES ON THE IMMIGRATION LAWS, PLEASE CHECK www.dpf.gov.br FOR
UPDATES BEFORE STARTING THE PROCESS

It is mandatory for a foreign national resident in Brazil (not a tourist) to

register at the Federal Police (PF) and have a Brazilian National Migration
Registration Card (Carteira de Registro Nacional Migratório) issued.

In order to get it, you must access their website and make an appointment
for an interview within 90 days after your arrival.

This is a guide to help with the application process.

On the PF homepage: www.dpf.gov.br, click on “Imigração” (Immigration)

Next go to “REGISTRO de Visto Consular” (Registration Consular Visa)

 You will get to “REGISTRO de Autorização de Residência”

and then Option 1:

The formulário can be found in English. However, you need the additional
information to fill it out:

On the Main Occupation box, you should enter or choose 930 from the list
The SCHOOL ADDRESS should be Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de
Janeiro, Zip Code: 22451-900, (Rua Marquês de São Vicente, 225, Gávea) and
on Additional Details, you should add the Department information
 Check the Sworn Declaration box

The system will generate a "Protocolo” (confirmation slip), which should be

printed. You will need the "Código de Solicitação" number (application code
number) to schedule the appointment.
After printing the “Protocolo”, you must go back to the original page and
schedule an appointment in “Agendamento”.
 Fill out the form and proceed to the calendar

THE DATE MUST BE BEFORE THE 90 DAY DEADLINE

If there no date available, please print the onscreen message and try another date, after the
deadline.

You should go to the Federal Police Offices, on the first floor (Departures) at Santos Dumont
Airport, in the city centre, BEFORE the 90 day deadline, taking all the required documents, including
the printouts that show your failed attempts to schedule an appointment before the deadline and
ask for instructions on how to proceed.

Be prepared to pay a fine, in case you are told to go back on the scheduled date you already have.

and then "Para gerar GRU"

After filling out your personal information, you must choose:

RJ – (021-3) SUPERINTENDECIA REGIONAL DO ESTADO DO RIO DE JANEIRO

“Código da Receita” 140120 (Immigration ID card costs) R$ 204,77

Print the payment slip that must be paid up to the "Vencimento"

If you miss the due date, you must generate a new one

You must take the original to the interview.

On the date of your appointment, make sure you have all the required documents, the fee paid and
the original of all your documents with you.

It is recommended that you have a proof of residence - an original utility bill (electricity, gas or
cable tv) in your name. If you have not got one yet, you need a declaration from your landlord that
you are living at that address, accompanied by a copy of his/her ID card.

If the documents presented have been issued abroad, they must comply with the rules of
legalization and translation, including those contained in treaties to which the country is a party.

Translations of the list of documents and of the declaration of electronic address and other means
of contacts are below.
 CHECKLIST 2 - registration for immigrants holding temporary visas or residence permits

□ Personal application, using a duly completed and signed form

□ Two 3x4 photos, recent, colored on a white background

□Declaration of electronic address and other means of contact (annex XIX of Inter-ministerial Ordinance No. 3/2018);

□Valid travel document or other document, which proves identity and nationality, under the terms of the treaties to
which the country is a party;

□Birth or marriage certificate or consular certificate or visa form, when the travel document or official identity document
does not state data of filiation (parents’ names)

□ Original visa form / visa consultation at STI, as appropriate;

□ Document of identification of the sponsor (for temporary visa for family reunion)

□Declaration, under the penalties of the law, signed by the sponsor and applicant, that none of the causes of loss of residence
permit provided for in art. 135 of Decree No. 9,199, of 2017 (for temporary visa for family reunion)

□ Proof of payment of the CRNM issuance fee, when applicable (revenue code 140120, in the
amount of R$ 204,77);

Note:
If the documents submitted have been issued abroad, they must respect the rules of legalization and translation,
including those contained in treaties to which the country is a party.

the Decree No. 9199 of 2017, is true and that I’m aware of the obligation to update the Federal Police records whenever there
is any change of my personal data and ways of contact. I further declare that I am aware that any subsequent communication
and notifications about the administrative proceedings made by the Federal Police will be sent, preferably, to the above-
mentioned electronic address and published on the Federal Police official website http://www.pf.gov.br/servicos-
pf/imigracao/lei-de-migracao (NOTE: CORRECT ADDRESS) and that the start of the countdown to respond, under the terms of
this Ordinance, will occur with the publication on the of the Federal Police official website on the internet.
