Decision: Approve change to CHEA-recognized scope of accreditation

Summary of CHEA’s Review

The CHEA Board of Directors reviewed a request for a change of recognized scope of accreditation for
an organization outside of the regular recognition review. The review was based on CHEA requirements
that an accrediting organization conduct pilot reviews to demonstrate the capacity to carry out
accreditation reviews under the new scope of accreditation (2006 CHEA Recognition Policy and
Procedures, Paragraphs 10 and 11, pp. 4-5).

ATMAE demonstrated that it meets these requirements and that its accreditation process under the
proposed changes to the scope of accreditation is consistent with the quality, improvement and
accountability expectations that CHEA has established. The CHEA Board of Directors granted approval
of the ATMAE scope of accreditation that follows below:

ATMAE Scope of Accreditation After Changes

Associate, baccalaureate, and master’s degree programs in technology, applied technology, engineering
technology, and technology-related disciplines delivered by national or regional accredited institutions in
the United States.(2011)
