Introduction
Generally speaking,educational sociology is a branch of sociology that studies
the relation betweensociety and education.

2-1-Definitions of key terms
*Education
Education is defined as the process of receiving or giving systematic
instruction,specially at school or university.
*Sociology
The term sociology can be known as the study of the
development,structure,and functioning of human society. It is also the study of
human problems.
*Educational sociology
Educational sociology is a study that studies how people learn,describes and
explains institutions,social groups,and social processes or social concerns.That
is,the social interaction in which or by which an individual obtains and
organizes his or her experiences.
2-2-Some aims of educational sociology to be highlighted
The aims of educational sociology are follows :
*To develop a curriculum that will help in achieving the sociological aims
According to educational sociology,curriculum is organized so that it may
help in achievement of social aims.The social progress of the society and nation
depends on the curriculum in the schools and universities.Due to this
reason,the sociologists consider it essential to organize the curriculum carefully
and properly.In the word of eminent educationists,’’education is not to be
confined to the study of a few subjects alone,is to be present any epitomized
study of the diversified social life.
So,to construct curriculum,we should follow some principles
-The curriculum should be such that it helps in achievement of the social
aims of education
-The curriculum should be chosen on the basis of the problem and needs
of the society. But it should also pay the attention to the real problems and
interests of the pupils.
-The curriculum should be so organized and its relationship with
instructional methods should be such that it becomes effective medium to
keep a control over society
-The curriculum should be flexible and changeable.It should change
continuously according to changing social planning.
*To develop children into good and responsible citizens of the society
It means that through educational sociology,children will learn about how
become a good citizen for example. It helps children to understand what is
happening within the society and as citizens,they should act in responsible
manner.
*To make children understand the difference between good and
bad,ethialc and unethical in the society
This means that when dealing with educational sociology,children learn
about the moral and not moral ways of doing things in the society,that is to
say,do what is good to be done and leave what is bad to be left.
*To teach children about he importance of equality,justice,peace and
harmony in the society
This type of aim claims for democratical values which enable children to
fight against all bad evils in the society and try to understand how those values
should be protected.
*To introduce students to basic social progresses of society,social
interactions and patterns of social behavior
This aspect tries to help children to be familiar with the evolution of the
society,of institutions and copy the good examples given by the society in order
to behave well in the human society.
2-3-Importance of aims of educational sociology
As it deals with society and education,educational socioloy aims to develop
a curriculum that will adequately socializes each individual student.It tries to
find out what would best contribute towards the child’s
personality,development and control the educative process to achieve
personality development process of each single child.
3-Conclusion
To round up with,educational sociology applies sociological principles to the
process of education to acquire objectives of sociology through the educative
process carried on by the school and the community.
